Indefinite Hiatus

So, I’m grounded. In a few hours I’m losing technology access, so I won’t be able to keep updating the blog.

Hopefully this won’t last more than a month, so I should be back within the next few updates, but I really dont know when I’ll have access to tumblr again.

Oh, Kanaya. How I’ve missed you.

So this is obviously a bluff. For one, Tavros is on the side of the rebellion, he wasn’t even kidnapped, he was the one who ran away. Second, there is no way you can expect me to believe that anyone involved in this plan would put Tavros in any actual danger. He’s kept up in the air on the ship, held as a “hostage” and far away from Jane. She can’t get to him, and Kanaya wouldn’t hurt him. He’s safe. Third, whatever Jane decides is a loss for her. If she gives up, she loses a lot of political influence for giving in to the demands of the rebels. If she doesn’t, she still loses a lot of political influence, because she was just completely apathetic in letting her son be “killed” by the rebellion.

Tavros is going to be perfectly fine if she refuses the offer, they would just take him on the ship and pretend they killed him while the others run off. And if she accepts the offer, I’m not sure if they would give Tavros to her or if they would just say he was safe, but at worst he would probably just run away again to rejoin the rebellion.

The worrying thing is that Jake is clearly not in on this plan. He thinks Kanaya is going to snap his sons neck if Jane doesn’t let the others escape, and he wants them to escape anyways. He was the one who dropped the leash in the funeral, after all. If Jane refuses the deal, this could mean a lot of things for Jake. He could either turn completely against Jane and quit his double agent act that Brain Ghost Dirk coerced him into, or suddenly turn against the rebellion and side with Jane. I doubt that he would side with Jane, but it’s a possibility, considering this is hs^2.

Tl;dr: Kanaya is bluffing about killing Tavros, but I have no clue how Jane will respond.

Might have to do some more comparisons between sketches and final product, most are pretty much the same but some of these are just pure gold.

I love Karkats expressions in these, sucks that they got cut out in the final drafts. Although, I do think I prefer the relaxed and more calm vibe that the final panels give off, when paired with the whole conversation they have.

While I do love an animated karkat, the exaggerated expressions wouldn’t really match up with his dialog in my opinion.

Also you may have noticed that the final panel is flipped in the sketch, that would be because they decided to swap the camera angle, I guess.

I thought maybe they just flipped it completely, but no, the room just has doors on both sides. Which is odd for a laundry room that doesn’t lead to a garage, in my experience, but who really expected anything else from Jakes second best ship?

This last bit may just be a me thing, but I love looking at the differences between the sketch artists “homestuck style” and the final panel. Maybe I just have a heavy fanart intake, but that more personalized style really appeals to me. It wouldn’t be homestuck if it didn’t, well, look like homestuck, but the softer angles and slightly less dramatic angle really make the shot look more candid and casual, as opposed to the climactic ending feeling the final panel gives off.

Forgot to comment on this when the sketches and commentary came out last week, but it has been confirmed. The little purple and green thing next to the dryer in the davekat laundry day update was in fact a roomba, not a miniature recuperacoon as speculated by some fans that apparently really wanted davekat to raise a child.

Some people also thought it might be a scale. Like, for weight. Nope, it’s a roomba. A troll roomba, to be specific, which is Different than an earth roomba, but we do not get to know how apparently, because , quote, “some things are secrets so deep there isn't a patreon tier expensive enough to accommodate them.”

I’m not actually sure how many people were speculating about the roomba, but I came across too many posts about it on my dash to not acknowledge it.

That’s what probably happened, I’m just a little surprised that they haven’t noticed their mistake yet.

People (mainly one person) have been pointing out the mistake in the comments of the post in patreon, but no response so far.

I’m not really sure what’s up with this, it’s been like that for over an hour. It is, in fact, the exact same post from May 30th, but without the panel sketches included.

I guess we’ll see what happens when the team realizes they posted it twice.

UPDATE:

The current patron count is 2003, meaning there will continue to be two updates per month. Whether or not the momentary drop below 2k was long enough to mean one month without the second update, I don’t know, but I doubt it.

Most likely, things will continue on as they have been, with two regular updates per month, and the additional bonus content for patrons.

That’s what I thought too, buddy.

Jasprose whisked Jane away to the Midnight City, but Dad Crocker followed and met up with Droog (and Problem Slueth, and now slick and snowman too) so they’re not dead anymore.

They can’t be from the Derse from the alpha session, because Droog had no clue who Dad Crocker was, but they can’t be from the Beta session, because he didn’t recognize Crocker as Dad Egbert either, and they’re supposedly identical.

But they can’t be from the trolls session, because I’m pretty sure in all of the above, Snowman has died (correct me if I’m wrong, the details are fuzzy).

Which leaves two options (in my mind, I’d love to hear what you guys think other possibilities could be): 1) They’re from different sessions that somehow survived and all now live in Midnight City. or 2) They’re from a new session that we haven’t seen happen yet, either on Dirks new planet, or the Omega kids session.

I don’t think the Omega kids will play the game, if I’m being totally honest. And I don’t think dersites from the meat session would be able to interact with non-players, but with Jasprose being a sprite I guess she could possibly teleport Jane into the session.

I’m not completely sure what is going on, exactly. But Snowman’s back.
