Bleach 291:
"If I knew sadness, I would embrace it. If you went ashtray, I would be your guide. If you make a mistake, I will forgive you. When you had nowhere to turn, I would be your refuge. I wanted to help, all so that this man could no longer love the world might love it again."

I'm sorry I have been away too long. My computer is finally up and working, but not entirely yet. It needs some minor upgrades. After that, I will post more. Thank you all for your patience!

It can already read hand and body movements, but Microsoft's Kinect technology is incorporating sign language into its motion-sensing vocabulary, too.

Types of Languages: Sign language and Speaking
The constant notion of Deaf people thinking they should preserve their sign language to ASL... and if any D/deaf/HOH folks that don't use ASL are not one of them.
The constant notion of Hearing people thinking they should preserve their speaking language to English and if any Hearing folks that don't speak in English are not one of them.
But the majority in this world, we all irrevocably must accept that... this is the Hearing World and English is the one world language. It applied to the entire world. I know a hearing friend of mine lives in China, had to learn English and speak in English as their second language.
Be it as speaking or sign language, we as D/deaf/HOH folks all have to learn English as well as sign language in English in education system. In case if we need to survive in this world. It does not mean it will strip our cultures away if we learn in English. We can keep our cultures at home as long as it is our choices.
My understanding... of what languages means in sign language and speaking:
Speaking Person--
Speaking does not imply... they're speaking in English. I'm talking about "Hearing World." People that use speak in a clear, intelligent conversation in a complete/some sentence. Clear pronunciation. Their level of Hearing loss would be less than 40 decibels.
Sign Language D/deaf Person--
Hand Signing does not imply they're speaking in ASL. I'm talking about "Deaf World." People that use sign languages. They're speaking through hands in a clear, intelligent conversation in complete/some sentence. Clear hand sign. Their level of Hearing loss would be greater than 40 decibels.
Author's note:
I know this is very sensitive topic. Most people would rather not discuss about it, but I don't mind. I talk about it all the time with my friends and families. It's the only one way or other I have to be honest with myself.
Again, remember this is my experiences being in two different worlds. I could see both of their problems and I am more interested in solutions and working together rather than to be segregated. I thought that I could help to put our difference aside since I have experiences from both worlds. And I want to share it with rest of you.
I don't want us all to be stuck in the mud for rest of their lives clinging to those old notions. Not only we're working to improve better lives for Deaf world, I believe doing that we're also helping Hearing and Deaf world to work together.

More Lipreading game: Tom Hiddleston.
You all can play this game with me. See if you've got it right better than me. The gifs source: skrepo4kacrazy. Her gifs are awesome! It's hard find gifs without subtitles so I can play 'lipreading' games. This is Tom Hiddleston speaking. I am not sure which TV show he's in, but however, let the game begins!
Tumblr media
"Ehh, so far..." (This is the easiest...to guess.)
Tumblr media
"He's very, very, very aggressive." (wth is that icon on bottom, left corner?! Is it just me or it looks like Thor?)
Tumblr media
"Ohh..." (it could be no voice at all. Just a facial expression would be my second assumption.)
Tumblr media
"Well, maybe he's being framed."
Tumblr media
"Far from being bereaved..."
Tumblr media
"I thought he was spoiled."
That's it. Took me about 10 good minutes to figured it out. Then again, I wonder if I got it all lipreading part right.

Conversation
Website about the SL Communication with Hearing.
Website: "Sign Language is bad for Deaf people because they will rely on it too much and it will make them unable to communicate with Hearing people.” Study after study has shown that keeping Sign Language away from Deaf people does nothing except keep all language away from Deaf people, and it can have numerous negative effects on their ability to learn. Even Deaf adults who have never learned to speak still live in a world that is mostly Hearing, and have developed incredible skills for making themselves understood. On another note, Doctors are continually saying how good Sign Language is for Hearing babies, why would this not be true for Deaf babies as well?
Me (deaf): Why, of course, I could say the same thing for Deaf babies to learn English in sign language. It's not fair that the Hearing babies get to learn both while Deaf babies are being subjected to learn ASL only. It would not make sense if they don't think Deaf babies should learn in English.

Let's us ALL play lipreading games!
This is David Lyons, but I am not sure the title of TV show he's playing in... I think it's "ER" (1994) and he plays as Dr. Simon Brenner. The gifs source: skrepo4kacrazy.
Tumblr media
"Find a barrel 'cause you've to barf--." (This is the most difficult...)
Tumblr media
"As much as you can."
Tumblr media
"Ooh..."
Tumblr media
"Find a time. And don't worry about it as you can."
Tumblr media
"...hmm."
With no sounds at all make it more difficult. I wonder if I got the lipreading part right.

I was born and raised in California and I’m currently living in Kansas City. I grew up with hearing aids and got a Cochlear Implant during my early 20s. This is an example of a deaf accent.

Being deaf from birth, most children would either choose to perceive life in a optimistic or pessimistic way. People often forget that just because someone can't hear, doesn't mean they are mentally challenged or incapable of adapting to their environment. As a positive-minded and ambitious individual, I grew to accept my disability, using it to my advantage, and to see the humor in life. This is my story.

Deaf Issues: Wrongly Accused.
My deaf experiences from hearing people.
1) Not my problem, read my lip! (I know this person for three years.)
2) Oh, never mind! (After asked this person to repeat several of times. Write what you're saying on a paper with pencil? Or use the dragon apps -speech to text- in your cell phone so I could read on there while what you're saying? Or you could type something on your cell phone so I could read what you're saying? There are many innovative way to communicate, believe me...! I would too. I do that all the time.)
4) You're a liar! You're not deaf. You're doing to get people's attention. (I can speak it does not mean I am lying that I'm deaf to get people's attention.)
5) Oh! I'm sorry that you're deaf. (I always smiled at that comment. They just don't get what I'm trying to say. I was trying to say that they have to write down what they're saying or at least face me while they're speaking to me.
6) Stop that. I know you can understand what I'm saying. I know you can hear me. (I can hear some but it does not mean I can understand what they're saying.)
7) Deaf people can't write English. They can't speak English either. (Wrong. They can write English. They can speak English as well, but don't go thinking all of them can. Some of them can't speak well. Some of them are lazy to write English. Like you know same with rest of hearing folks. They can be real lazy about it, too. There are few cases in school for the deaf that don't teach English. My public school in the past had done it on purpose to keep deaf students like me in special ed class.)
8) No, you are not deaf. You just don't want to say that you're stupid. (This guy does not believe that I'm deaf because I was speaking. I was having trouble saying few words at the beginning, and then had to ask him to repeat what he was saying.)
9) What languages do you speak in? (This person does not know that I'm deaf. Because of my deaf accent this person thought I don’t speak English.)
10) Example like you, you're born of disease. (The high school teacher in the health class was explaining what the disease really means and used me as an example to my classmate. There are many different types of hearing loss and I was not born of disease. I was born deaf/HOH from hereditary disorders.)
11) Huh, what? What? WHAT? WHA-A-AT?! I'm sorry, could you say that again? (This person knew I'm deaf and did this on purposefully to not understand me. I think this person's in shock that "DEAF" like me could speak. Luckily my friend was with me the whole time and she understood what I was saying. She actually repeated it for this person. I know not all hearing people can understand other accents too. They'll get used to it once they listen for a bit from time to time, anyway.)
Bless, love and peace to you all.

WHEN A HEARING PERSON STARTS SPEAKING TO ME
I'm like:
Tumblr media
Why bother? They all will walk away... if I tell them I'm deaf. Just nod and pretend. Sometimes I do that. I just hate pretending, but they're in for a small talk anyway.

Deaf Issues: Hearing folks' Expectation.
When a hearing person starts speaking to me...
You know one way or the other I had to let this person know that I am deaf. I could not understand what the hell s/he was saying. I can't stand it. I know hearing folks can't stand it either if this guy starts the conversation in sign language, right? Anyway, this is what I have to deal with everyday in this hearing world.
Naturally I said that I am deaf with my hand gesture towards my ear, and then this person stopped speaking. S/he looked at me as if s/he have no idea what to say next. I was waiting for this person to say something. I was pretty quick. I told him/her to write something down with my hand gesture. You know, my hand holding an invisible pen and my other hand as a paper. That kind of simple sign language that everyone can understand.
Suddenly this person walked away quickly with his/her hands waving at me in a rather apologetic way.
Now, what did I do wrong this time? Nothing. Absolutely nothing wrong with me. I was being upfront about it.
This person was supposed to keep trying and do whatever it takes to get the conversation going because s/he started the conversation first. Honestly it's not my job to accommodate him/her. I have never seen this person again in my lifetime though. Most of them I have never met.
