In this class, I realized that software knowledge was much more needed to understand to get things finalized how my mind wanted it to complete the assignment. I believe I could have done better, but this is an absolute improvement from the original proposal that was originally submitted.
This class has shown me that it is best to take things slowly and sketch out EVERYTHING before you even begin. It is best to also have some sort of action plan and direction as to where you want to go with any of your ideas. It is also necessary to think outside of the box. I think that I was able to approach this assignment with a new perspective and show that I have the ability to give a proposal to any client that needs further help to increase sales and goals.
Given the constraints, this project used an infographic which was changed completely from its original format as well as the video. The flow of the project could have been smoother, but this was a learning experience and I could achieve a much better outcome once I felt more comfortable with using all the software available.
I learned how to integrate both imovie, screenflow as well as keynote on this project. Pretty awesome tools!

Mastery Journal Reflection
Main page design used for a fourth grade virtual field trip assignment for one of my previous classes. Simple design, which I liked, but still seemed very amature and felt unfinished.
Another page of the same assignment. Notice that some of the copy is hard to read? I didn’t notice this, even though the professor mentioned this. I think this is my hard head telling me at the time I was right, when I wasn’t. Something inside me did tell me something was wrong about this, but it was pretty, and at the time, looking pretty was enough. BIG MISTAKE!
Once again, the background and the print did not mesh well and caused issues when reading. Although the design concept was clean, it would not get the attention of the intended audience, which was a fourth grade classroom.

How can we start using this in our classrooms?
Sometimes using the newest and best equipment for learning doesn’t mean that your students are learning the way they should. This is a good start, but how do we KNOW that each student is learning:
A. At their own pace
B. Building upon their knowledge
C. Going to use these skills in a real world setting

So I came across this article from thelearningcoach.com. I often wondered what it takes to be a successful instructional designer. I don’t think it is just having a degree, like the article says, but more the blood, sweat and tears needed to have a complete rounded idea. Projects from start to end, one must know exactly how to formulate the idea and mold the vision using actions and learning techniques (Malamed, n.d.).

Statement of Intention
My long-term goals are to acquire or start my own company where I will improve curriculum for schools as well as help companies better their training to suit a desired standard of culture. With a Master of Science degree in Instructional Design and Technology from Full Sail University, I will reach that goal.
Currently, I am molding my mastery. I intend to better the theories of how people understand using the psychology of learning. I also intend on improving my storytelling techniques, motivational techniques, and visual and verbal communication techniques.
The short-term goals include improving my skills to create inspirational digital media. This means being able to produce artwork and designs that captivate the learner. I will create incredible content to keep both student and hires engaged using the latest technology. I also plan on improving my skills of differentiation to improve a learner’s capability. Because I already have a basic knowledge of media and technology, teaching techniques and learner profiling, I will excel in my chosen field.
I chose Full Sail among other colleges and universities because of their commitment to using technology. They also have a hands-on approach to learning, which is how I find it easier to learn and build upon what I already know. The school also provides me with the tools needed to create, which is the most important thing when trying to achieve that awe-inspiring content.
As for this blog, I will introduce ideas that will help in keeping my ideas concise and in order as well as keep my creative aspects reproducing and alive. Sometimes you will see quotes, drawings, sketches, videos and everything else required by my current classes to obtain the mastery that I desire. Sometimes my inspiration will come from my family, other times it may be abstract. I am sure that no matter where this inspiration happens, the foundation to complete my goals will become stronger and more focused. I know that the road to obtaining my Master of Science in instructional design will be a difficult one, but in the end, I know that I will be able to complete it.
