Wow! I sure do love that "Prevent Third-Party Sharing" is not enabled by default! Did you know that I and many others abandoned Deviantart for a situation very similar to this? And I don't know if I feel highly enough of Tumblr to not do the same? Please consider making that the default option, instead of just throwing all your artists into the fire if they're not fast enough to notice this : - )

AI companies are acquiring content across the internet for a variety of purposes in all sorts of ways. There are currently very few regulations giving individuals control over how their content is used by AI platforms. Proposed regulations around the world, like the European Union’s AI Act, would give individuals more control over whether and how their content is utilized by this emerging technology. We support this right regardless of geographic location, so we’re releasing a toggle to opt out of sharing content from your public blogs with third parties, including AI platforms that use this content for model training. We’re also working with partners to ensure you have as much control as possible regarding what content is used.

Here are the important details:

We already discourage AI crawlers from gathering content from Tumblr and will continue to do so, save for those with which we partner. 

We want to represent all of you on Tumblr and ensure that protections are in place for how your content is used. We are committed to making sure our partners respect those decisions.

To opt out of sharing your public blogs’ content with third parties, visit each of your public blogs’ blog settings via the web interface and toggle on the “Prevent third-party sharing” option. 

For instructions on how to opt out using the latest version of the app, please visit this Help Center doc. 

Please note: If you’ve already chosen to discourage search crawling of your blog in your settings, we’ve automatically enabled the “Prevent third-party sharing” option.

A Snivy and Floatzel duo; Basil's a Pokemon Contest Winning Snivy who purposefully doesn't evolve so he can stay small and cute, and is a bit of a glutton who really enjoys the contest winner life. Alfredo's an Alpha Floatzel who acts as a bodyguard for his best friend, and is very careful around the lil guy!

Biscotti "Smoke" Lemra

Part of a thieves guild with Scarlet, the bat I designed, Biscotti - AKA Smoke - is a lemur whose skillset revolves around being able to lob smoke bombs from a great distance, for the sake of confusion and subterfuge. His mask helps him see through the smoke he creates; he rarely does any thievery himself, but his long prehensile tail DOES help with that! Like how Scarlet was inspired by Rouge the Bat, Biscotti here was also inspired by a few Sonic characters too; in this case, Tangle the Lemur and Whisper the Wolf!

Scarlet "Nails" Batte

A bat thief who is definitely not inspired by another bat (she is, I've got brainrot for Rouge after all), Nails! I designed her a while back and meant to post her but it SOMEHOW slipped my mind. She's a thief who uses nail-like spikes to climb around and sneak into places, and has a partner who is a big hammerhead shark named Tooth (not pictured here, coming soonish maybe); the two work together in a larger Thieves Guild of sorts, all of which use codenames related to their main implements - Nails has her oversized Nails, Tooth uses their teeth, etc.!

Ohhhh I LOVEEEEEE Discord making Tumblr Dev level decisions, please everyone share this if you can, this is very dang important and can save someone pre-emptively if shared

If you're on the app, immediately go to your dms and then "add friends". After the latest update they allow your contacts to find you and have that option turned on by default, so make sure it's unchecked!

This is very obviously not great for a multitude of reasons, but especially for people in vulnerable positions who do not want people in their contacts to see who they are on discord and/or know they have discord in the first place. I've also tried finding out if this is a thing on desktop but haven't been able to find any mention of it, so either it's not a "feature" (yet) or they've hidden it. Either way, stay safe, and turn off finding friends via contacts!
