first look at a new AU in the works with @guldig✨

Bonnie drops her gaze to watch as Kai traces the tip of the blade down to her heart, pressing it just hard enough to break skin. A fresh trickle of blood runs down beneath the ruined fabric of her slip, another damning stain that he has no hope of hiding from.

“I’m sorry,” he repeats, though he doesn’t lower the weapon. “I - I have to, baby. I have to-,”

She takes a slow, steady breath before she lifts her gaze back to him, something ancient looking back at him from the pearlescent depths. “If that’s what you want,” she agrees, one hand lifting to circle his wrist. “Show me who you love more.”

Kai swallows tightly, gripping at her hip to pull her closer as he tries to make sense of what she’s saying.

“You need to pick,” she adds, her fingertips pressing over his racing pulse. “Me…or your God.”

It's an easy, obvious choice.

Or it would have been, before he'd come wandering into her wood.

life has been so painfully busy lately but here are some snippets of my current wip's:

jo centered one-shot set in the Hits Different verse:

“Is this the worst of it?”

The months play out behind Bonnie’s eyes, written in the lines of her frown and the clench of her fingers in her lap. “Sure,” she nods, the motion absent and far away. “It’s the only time he made me bleed.”

Jo doesn’t know if it’s the haunting sound of her voice or the waves of grief threatening to consume them both that makes her set the bottle of disinfectant aside, but suddenly she’s tugging at her own shirt, lifting it to show off the jagged scar that crawls over the left side of her ribs.

“Me too,” she says, quietly.

Heavy in Your Arms:

Kai manages to dip his head in something like a nod, the glass in his hand giving an uneasy creak as he tightens his grip. “So,” he says when it becomes clear all Jo can do unprompted is stare and drink and frown back at him. “How’s life?”

“Terrible,” she mutters, “but you know that already. You’re the reason I’ve been having nightmares, aren’t you? All this time you were pretending to help me and it’s your fault I’m sick to begin with.”

“Karma,” he agrees solemnly, “sorry.”

“No, you aren’t,” she snaps, sounding annoyed and disappointed in equal measure. “You never are.”

“You’re not going to like her,” Jo sighed, flopping onto her back to stretch out over the end of his bed. “She’s had less training than the kids put together. She didn’t even know basic mending-”

“She’s still a Bennett,” Kai snapped, unable to keep the glare from his face when he turned back to her. “I don’t care if she’s the stupidest witch we’ve ever met, I’ll make it work.”

“I didn’t say she was stupid,” Jo huffed, lifting her head to return his glare. “And you know what, on second thought, her manners are even worse than yours. Maybe you’ll kill each other, and I’ll finally be rid of you.”

“I don’t want to hurt you,” Kai whispers, the fingers of his free hand creeping to rest at the back of her neck, the other faltering around the knife that he holds dangerously close to her throat. “I’d do anything to keep you, but I can’t love a witch.”

my second original work:

There was no point in promising that she wouldn’t run off on her own again, she knew herself better than that. Even now, if she could go back to the moment she’d fled her bedroom straight into this unending darkness, she’d do it again. 

Born under the sign for Taurus, she and Eli were both far too stubborn for their own good. My little bulls, Blythe had dubbed them growing up, until Parker had complained one too many times that he hated being called a stupid crab. The old nickname felt especially fitting now as she plowed her way through the dark, determined to find an answer to at least one of her questions. 

It was comforting in a way that made her heart ache, to be reminded of a trait they shared while he felt so far from her grasp. When Lijah really wanted something, he went after it with a kind of ruthless intensity that made everyone else nervous. He’d always been rather remorseless when it came to getting what he believed he deserved. 

Meredith had never wanted anything like that. 

Except, perhaps, keeping him alive.
