✶⊶⊷⊶°.•☆•.° ✶⊶⊷⊶⊷❍⊶⊷⊶⊷✶ °.•☆•.° ⊶⊶⊷✶
- Day by day, night after night. As the moon and sun trail across the big blue above, time moved on. Time stopped for no one! And no one could control time.
- Even if you wished it to, you could never go back. Back to the day your kind was eradicated from the face of the planet. All those hundreds of years, gone. Wasted and never used as you never wanted to leave this island of snow.
- You had no attachments. No friends. Certainly no family…but perhaps you could make up for lost time.
- Sure, the youngling tucked against your side, sleeping away beneath warm scales, was human. And yes, humans never lasted as long as dragons did.
- He couldn’t fly, he didn’t have wings. He couldn’t breathe fire, his anatomy was different. He couldn’t survive in such harsh weather, he was no dragon.
- He was human.
- And humans never lasted long.
- You could predict what the future would look like. The youngling would die. You would lose yet again.
- You’d feel that horrid pain of loss again.
- When the youngling shifted in his sleep, you noticed his groggy eyes. They blinked in the sunlight, his small form moving about until his face was buried in your scaly side.
- Oh, what a precious youngling.
- A youngling who had all the time in the world now.
- He had you, even if you didn’t know his name. That was okay. He never addressed any other soul but you, sometimes asking for food. Sometimes wanting just a hug.
- The youngling never asked much.
- How could he? He had everything he wanted. He may have lost Cora, but he had his guardian. His protector. His new…
- …New parent.
- Ya, his new parent. All he knew was that the dragon acted fairly protective of him now. It fed him. It watered him. It kept him warm.
- His new family was just beginning to grow.
- “G-aaaw-ood morning.”
- “Rrraaaawr.”
- Huh, maybe yawns were contagious!
- The boy chuckled before sitting up, stretching with a slight yell, and slumped back into the Light Fury’s side.
- It just flopped over, cooing, and looking tired. It reminded him of a lazy Husky not wanting to move.
- “Mmm, fish for breakfast?”
- You huffed, moving just your next so your muzzle pointed him in a specific direction of the den. Sea spray made the edges of the den slightly slippery, but you knew that the youngling knew not to play over there.
- To the side of the den was a small pile of dried foods. While you both were out, you sneaking around the village, your smart youngling advised you to steal the dried items. They’d last longer!
- Uuh, not YOUR youngling but, THE youngling! Haha, whoops!
- But the youngling definitely was smart. He’d bring back some books on medical stuff. Stuff you didn’t really care about for, but you never tried to damage his objects.
- He liked the books, so you tolerated the piles of paper in the back corner of the den, situated next to a small beanbag and scorch marks on the stone floor.
- The scorch marks were your fault. But you couldn’t help it! You liked lying on a heated surface, it was cozy.
- Either way, you watched the youngling wobble up and head towards the chefs of foods. He had picked out some dried apples and began munching on his little breakfast. Returning to you, dried slices in hand, he curled up under your wings again.
- It was like a little tent.
- A little tent made from the wing of a living Light Fury.
- The sun was just barely above the horizon, both of you looking out towards the not yet harsh sun. The youngling eventually finished the apple slices, yawning once more, before settling back down.
- Ah, poor thing hadn’t gotten much sleep as of late.
- He had been spending so much time with his nose buried in those books. Spending time scraping what remained of his Amber Lead Disease. Spending time planning his future.
- You’d try to get him to sleep, but your actions were always in vain.
- He just wouldn’t listen to your concerned warbles, too engrossed with his books on human bodies and grasping his devil fruit powers. You never pushed him to sleep, but you still wanted him to be healthy.
- And those eyebags told you everything.
- The moment he became comfortable under your pearly wings, you tucked your head into the same space. However, instead of drowning the youngling, you just laid your round muzzle against his full tummy.
- You looked like a kind of massive swan.
- You may have more time than humans did themselves, but that didn’t mean you couldn’t share your time.
- A small hand was set between your nubby ears, subconsciously petting your head as if he were awake. You could smell that he was, but just barely.
- What had happened to your resolve? Your will to stay strong and not give in. Give into affection and connection.
- It was vanished. Gone. Crumbled under the softness you couldn’t resist when it came to your youngling.
- His time was short, nothing but a second to yours.
- And you knew the consequences of such attachments.
- You just couldn’t help it.
- With your youngling hidden away from the hailing snow, the other cruel humans, the hardships, the pain…perhaps you could give him your time. Or what time you could give considering the youngling was human.
- The days would continue to go by, your human would soon grow up.
- No longer needing your protection.
- Nevertheless, perhaps you could make up for lost time.
- Together.

✶⊶⊷⊶°.•☆•.° ✶⊶⊷⊶⊷❍⊶⊷⊶⊷✶ °.•☆•.° ⊶⊶⊷✶
- Everything was so dark. Dark and warm. Warm. Was he dead?
- He had to be. Yet, something wasn’t right. Something was moving beside him. It felt like scales.
- Scales. Smooth like a shield. As pretty as pearls in the moonlight.
- The sound of purring met his ears. His body felt so warm, cozy even. This- this had to be a dream!
- “Pppprrrrrr~ Pppprrrrr~”
- You were sleeping soundly, wings tucked against your side. The nights had become frigid, many lakes and rivers freezing over in such extreme temperatures. You were okay, your internal fire keeping you at the perfect temperature you liked it.
- You hadn’t eaten much, from the fish sunken to the bottom of frozen water, but that was also okay. You could tough it out for quite a while without a proper source of food.
- However, her nubby ears perked up at the feeling of shifting within one of your wings. Oh, had the yo- child awoken? He had!
- “H-huh? Where…where am I?”
- The poor human child was so lost. But what could you say. You’d grown weak for him.
- A forked tongue merely swiped at his head, his fluffy hair spiking up as he was covered with saliva. He sputtered in surprise, not expecting the sudden action.
- You didn’t know why you had returned. In fact, it seemed almost unnatural for you to have returned.
- Sensing the change in weather, you fled to another island with lesser snow. The lakes over there were still liquid, the fish swimming about and plentiful as the humans in that tiny town didn’t like traveling so far just for fish.
- Though, you still had the habit of fishing too much. During the weeks you stayed on that island, you pondered to yourself about the extra fish lying about. Your instincts told you to hunt.
- But why did you still hunt so much? There was extra fish just right there! Yet you kept diving into the water to retrieve more…almost like you were hunting for another.
- And then it hit you.
- You had earned the habit because of the child. The child you had left behind.
- You spent a few days, eating the fish and restraining from hunting anymore so as not to waste the fish.
- You knew how horrid the blizzard of Swallow island would be, but your nerves were itching to fly back to that tree. To perch and hang from that tree where he’d be sitting under. He’d stare at you all day, following you like a lost duckling.
- Like a lost youngling.
- Like you once did before ‘that’ time.
- Before you were the only dragon left in the Grand Line. In the Red Line. In the New World.
- But when you did return, you were horrified to have found the child sitting still, covered in snow, in that same spot he always had.
- This was your fault.
- You left the youngling behind. You were the one responsible…when had you considered him a youngling?
- Oh well, that didn’t matter now. You had to take care of him!
- It’s not- It’s not like you cared. It just because your habits were too strong to break, and all that fish would go to waste if someone didn’t eat it.
- The humans meant nothing to you!
- Ah, but, maybe this young- child, this young child could be an exception.
- It wasn’t like any of his kind took him in.
- “Why?”
- What?
- “Why did you…whe-cckh! Where were you?”
- Oh. Uh. You drowned out his question with your saliva, literally.
- Lapping at his face, he coughed as tried to retreat back under the safety of your wing. Then again. It was your wing.
- You easily tucked your head under your wing, following him to try and clean off the dirt and grimy stuff stuck to his head.
- “Ack- wai, pppbblltt! Hhhuu, gah! Stop, kkhhh, stoop! Pfft, pppbbfftt! H-haha!”
- Huh. His laughter sounded so different in comparison to his cries…was it weird you liked the difference? Like, your ears didn’t hurt! That’s why you liked his laughter. Your ears were spARed from his, uh, horrid cries.
- You’d hate it if you found him crying- BEACause of your ears! Your ears were sensitive.
- Ya.
- The youngling wouldn’t stop laughing, trying to get away from you cleaning his face. It was the least he could do! You always noted how dirty he was whenever he was extremely close to you.
- You were just doing this for yourself! The youngling could go clean himself in the lake when it…wasn’t…frozen over. Maybe he’d die from the cold like you’d seen others in the pas- NO you were doING THIS FOR YOURSELF.
- He was covered in drool, yet he was somehow cleaner than ever! His face didn’t feel dusty to the touch. But he did understand how cats felt when they were bathed. Aaand he also smelled like the Light Fury’s saliva now.
- He wasn’t sure that smell would wash out if he tried.
- “Gahk, ckh. Oookay, a-are we done now? Please? PleASE-“
- You stopped at his pleas, finding him with a strange expression on his face. It was like he was smiling…yet still so annoyed. Oh well. At least he was clean by your standards.
- You watch him crawl out from under your scaly wing, shaking his head like a dog. Your head flinched back, eyes closed as some of your slobber landed right back on your face.
- “hhCCCHHH!”
- “B-bless you?”
- The youngling looked amused. Confused, but amused. He tried wiping his face of what remained on his face, groaning at the feeling that just spread to his hands. You crooned back at his groaning, the youngling looking up at you before snickering.
- “Ay! This is your fault!”
- His voice sounded harsh, but there was not a single trace of animosity behind it. If anything, he was being playful with you.
- You just flopped over, gurgling as if you had been shot.
- “Wh-hey! Don’t you act like you didn’t do this! I smell like your breath!”
- Your ears flipped straight up, your electric blue eyes wide, as you stared straight at the youngling. You. were.
- Offended.
- How dare he. How dare this- this youngling! This chILD. How dARe he!
- The snow fell harshly, the villages outside buried under piles of frost. The night continued on.
- Human vs dragon.
- The two play fought in their cozy little den, hidden away in the cliff side.

- He hadn’t seen the dragon in ages. It had been several weeks, and he couldn’t find it. But then again, it was a Light Fury.
- Its purely white scales were perfect for camouflaging into the blankets of snow that fell each night.
- Was it so bad that he kept searching for the warmth? Was it so bad that he sought out the Light Fury? He must be delusional.
- Was it so bad…that the Light Fury reminded him of Cora in a way?
- Cora was aloof in the beginning, just like it had been. Cora had grown warm to him, though, just how the Light Fury had before it disappeared that one night. Cora had a dopey smile when he looked to him. The Light Fury had when it saw the boy flailing his little arms to get out of the snow.
- Cora was kind enough to give him hope of surviving his Amber Lead disease, to which the boy’s slowly been scraping out of his system.
- The Light Fury had saved him from being turned into the World Government.
- It gave him hope that almost matched Cora’s. Of course, his late father figure still lingered in the back of the little one’s mind…but ever since that day, the day Cora was taken away and the Light Fury made itself known, He couldn’t help but reach his arms out.
- Desperate for that warmth.
- The days were growing colder and colder. The northern islands had constant snow, but these nights it was below freezing. More so than ever. The boy still hadn’t found shelter, the villagers knowing him as ‘the runt’ or ‘the rat’ from how they saw him scamper away after digging through their trash.
- How cruel. He was still so young. So young to the life he had been given, and yet he just couldn’t seem to get a jump start.
- The moon was high at its peak, the snow clouds covering its soft light. The child was huddled against a familiar tree, one he had once seen pearly scales dangle like Christmas ornaments.
- He wanted to cry, though nothing came out. He was just so tired now. So tired and wanting sleep. It was so cold, his mind felt numb. He tried to move his hands to bring the cloak closer to his body.
- But he couldn’t even feel his fingertips.
- He was so, so tired. The boy didn’t even notice his eyelids drooping. His head felt heavy. It was all so quiet. So quiet and cold. Cold. Cold like the ice he trudged through when wailing after the murder of Cora. Cold like the feeling of his heart being ripped in two. Cold like when his town was destroyed. Cold like- like the fire that burned down the hospital.
- Cold like the fire. Like the fire? Fire? Fire was hot. Hot. Warm.
- Warmth. The snow must’ve gotten to him. Everything felt so warm now. So hot. He was burning up.
- Was he dying?
- Not yet! He couldn’t die yet. The child had it live on for Cora. For Cora. For the one who save his life. For the one who saved him. Who kept him from being thrown to the wolves. The World Government.
- He was given a second, a THIRD chance. To live. To thrive. He was dying. And their sacrifices were all in vain. Cora’s death. The Light Fury’s existence.
- His eyelids had closed, he felt warm.
- He couldn’t die yet. His body craved the warmth. The soft warmth. He can’t. He can’t.
- Not yet.
- Warm like a hug.
- The boy couldn’t help himself.
- He welcomed it.

✶⊶⊷⊶°.•☆•.° ✶⊶⊷⊶⊷❍⊶⊷⊶⊷✶ °.•☆•.° ⊶⊶⊷✶
- How strange. You never thought you’d end up in such a situation, not that you were being cornered or something dangerous…you were merely lounging on a warm rock, as warm as it could be in these northern islands.
- But the child was just sitting there. Watching you.
- Your interaction wasn’t really anything grand. You’d go about your day, fishing and then leaving behind whatever you didn’t want. Flying to the trees and hanging by your tail. Sunbathing when the clouds gave way.
- But it was all so…strange.
- You found yourself fishing more than necessary. You were perching lower and lower. You sunbathed in the middle of fields, on random boulders, instead of on the cliffs you used to do before.
- Why? You could say so yourself. In fact, the child was sitting straight up, just staring. It was strange.
- He just sat there, tailing behind wherever you went. Recalling the last few days- no, the last week in fact, you hadn’t even flown too far from that one particular tree!
- Were you growing lazy? No, it couldn’t be. A downed dragon is a dead dragon. You had to get up. You had to fly.
- You dashed into the clouds without another thought about the child. Ah, without another thought of anything but flying!
- Soaring above the clouds, it was freeing. It was delightful. You could do this all day long!
- But, it was kinda quiet without hearing the faint breathing of that young- child! Young child.
- The sun was slowly crawling across the sky, heading for the horizon. Such a pretty sight that never grew old. You flew towards the sun, peering below at the small beaches covered with more snow. You island.
- No, not YOUR island. But the island that you called home. This island, as much as you hated it, belonged to the humans.
- And the humans did as they pleased just as you did as you pleased.
- Those humans and their children. The children. The child. That strange child, wearing the funny hat.
- He was probably gone from that spot he always sat. Probably gone now that he had nothing to watch. Gone since the humans were nothing to you.
- Gone.
- Just like your kind.
- He was…alone. Weak. Defenseless. A youngling.
- No. No- no, he wasn’t- wasn’t a youngling. He was a human child.
- A human child who was all alone.
- Hmm. Sunset. You’ll probably just head back to the cliff side to bask in the moonlight. But before you knew it, your pearly scaled wings guided you to that one tree.
- ‘Your tree.’
- “-o, stop!”
- What? What was that?
- “Aw-y! G- way!”
- It was the child. Why was he screa-
- “Go away! Stop!”
- “Shut it, youuu runt. You’ll fetch a hefty price if we turn you into the World Government!”
- There were strange yellow creatures with solids rectangular eyes. They looked like shiny yellow blobs! But, why were they grabbing at the child?! They had strange packs, of the same color, attached to their back. The creatures were taking your you- the child away!
- “I won’t- ah! I’m nOT GOING!”
- “Don’t make this harder on yourself buddy! You’re coming wi-“
- A high pitched whistling met the land dwellers’ ears.
- “LIGHT FURY!”
- “GET DOWN!”
- BOOM. A flash of purple exploding into the night.
- The blast struck a few of the yellow blobs back. The one blobby yellow creature holding the youngling back away. All of their glossy single rectangular eyes stared straight at you.
- Their target was you.
- “GET IT!” “OVER THERE!” “WATCH IT!”
- These creatures- no, these humans were despicable. They were trying to take your youngling away! He scrambled back, towards the rock you once claimed as your sunbathing rock.
- How dare they try to hurt the youngling.
- But, humans did as they pleased…just as you did as you pleased.
- In an instant, two humans were yanked from the ground and thrown into the air.
- Their screams quickly grew silent as they were thrown quite far. You didn’t care for their wellbeing after they left, you just wanted to drive the rest of them away from your tree.
- It didn’t take long, traumatizing the humans who cowered away. They could bring back the truth to their village. No one would believe them; they had no proof.
- Scorched hazmat suits? Could’ve been a simple fire that accidentally caught them. Ringing ears? Hah, they could be lying about that just to play the part. Broken bones? Falling down a cliff side in the middle. Of. the NIGHT. The explosion sound? Could’ve easily been a misfired cannon. Missing people? Who KNOWS what happens out there in the wilderness! For all the villagers knew, there could be a murderer amongst their group.
- And it didn’t help their story that you were smart enough not to attack innocent villagers.
- You just occasionally raided their sheds for fish during the lesser seasons. Occasionally! The humans knew nothing. They thought it was cause of the bears.
- When they left, you were alone, faced with the youngling you saved.
- He was crying, but this time more quietly. He looked stunned, star struck even.
- The Light Fury saved him.
- “Tha-thank you.”
- You cooed softly in response to his gratitude. Cooed? You cooed?! This couldn’t be happening.
- You had grown weak to humans. How can this be…you fired off a single plasma blast and flew right through the center.
- You disappeared.

- This time, it had only been a couple of days since until you found the child.
- He was sitting next to a tree. The tree you always perched on when you circled the island.
- His head was tilted down, his funny looking hat covering his head. You could swear his hat had the spots of a snow feline. Gah. What was he doing by your tree?
- The moment you perched, his little form twitched to life and he gaze up. Golden eyes met electric blue ones.
- “You’re back.”
- Your nubby ears couldn’t help but perk up. It was the first time you had heard him speak! His voice was still a bit high, but so raspy. Now he sounded like a Boneknapper trying to roar when it was missing a piece of his skeleton.
- “I…have a fish for you.”
- He held out a fresh looking fish, his hands shaking probably from the cold.
- Was that tuna?! Oooh, you loved tuna! Tuna and salmon were your favorite fish, but the moment he dumped his bag out, you hissed at the sight of…an eel.
- An eel. An eEL! EEL! EW EW EW! AGH!
- “W-woah! Ah, wait! Wait, uh. You d-don’t like eel? Huh?”
- He threw it away…he had a surprisingly good throw for such a, well, maybe not so frail human child.
- “Sorry about that. Ya, I don’t like eel either. Reminds me of Sea King.”
- Sea King? Oh yes. Those ribbon-looking beasts who ruled the seas now that dragons like the Bewilderbeast were gone. Those slimy freaks. You didn’t like eel. You didn’t like Sea King.
- Once you refocused on the child, you saw him wiping his small spotted hands on his cloak. Hmm, his finger tips looked extremely red. What did the humans call it? Frostbite?
- You dropped from your perch, sniffing around the fish pile before gobbling up the ones you liked the least before finishing with the best fish.
- You turned to the boy, sniffing at his body to make sure he wasn’t holding out on you.
- “Wha, h-hey. No- no more. I don’t have anymore!”
- He was backed into a tree, falling on his rear when the Light Fury’s rounded muzzle was right in front of his face. He didn’t have anymore. But the docks were so heavily guarded, and his hands were too cold to properly fish. He didn’t even know how to really truly fish like Cora did…Cora…oh- eu-EUGH!!
- You had thrown up the upper half of a fish, sitting back on your hind legs while tilting your head like a confused puppy. Now it was your turn to look confused.
- It was a gift. He didn’t have anymore fish, so you should give at least a bit of what he had given you!
- Ooooh…it was all warm and coated with saliva. Ugh, if he wasn’t trying to become a doctor, he probably would’ve been sick. But he’s- he’s seen worse.
- “I- um, what? What am I supposed to do with…uuuh-“
- Both of you stared at each other. You just swallowed your saliva while making straight eye contact with the youngling.
- “Oh.”
- He didn’t look too pleased with the gift. He picked up the fish, sniffing it, making a weird face, before weakly glancing up at you. He gave a weirded out expression.
- You swallowed again.
- “Ah…n-no thank you.”
- Oh. Well, at least he didn’t throw it away like the eel. So…the youngling wasn’t hungry then? Eh, whatever. He could eat it later if that’s what he wanted.
- You watched him place it by his bag, sitting up before looking dead bro your eyes. What a weird feeling. Was this youngling challenging you? Ah, why was he stretching his hand out??
- He wanted to get a closer look. His child like nature took hold and the boy just wanted to know more about the Light Fury.
- However, when it zoomed off into the snow, blending perfectly into the white wonderland, he looked a bit…blank. He felt curiosity dig into his brain. He had studied so much about all sorts of creatures. He’s dissected frogs. He was a strange child.
- But he was a child nonetheless.
- …and that was a dragon who gave him a, uh, fish head.

✶⊶⊷⊶°.•☆•.° ✶⊶⊷⊶⊷❍⊶⊷⊶⊷✶ °.•☆•.° ⊶⊶⊷✶
- The skies were quiet. The snowfall was gentle.
- It had been days since you last visited that island. Since you had last found that human child wandering the snowy planes.
- You were currently perched atop a tall tree, gazing upon your domain. No ships. No pirates. No marines. Those flamboyant pirates were also gone, just some mysterious red splotches slowly being covered by the blizzards last you found them.
- Ah…it was boring. You couldn’t lie, but that was the reason you liked to toy with those white clad humans. They were your entertainment in exchange for wreaking havoc near your skies. Your kind were gone so you didn’t have much to do. It was likely…
- You were the last of your kind.
- But no matter. You weren’t weak, and you had ample time to spare. You were a dragon, a Light Fury.
- A Light Fury, who was all alone. Left to fly the skies solo.
- Those sky humans you visited were fine, but they didn’t exactly fly like you did. If anything, you were the only ones to actually fly above the clouds. You didn’t like including those sky pirates.
- They didn’t count. They cheated by using a flying boat.
- Anyways, you didn’t have much to do since the island was all peaceful. Sure, you liked to live a quiet and not worry about being hunted. But without your friends, ah, nope!
- No. You weren’t going to be weak.
- You could live without them. Without your company. Without your friends.
- Without…without your family.
- It was a quiet life, now. Due to having been captured as a hatchling, along with your family, you could barely remember where the Hidden World was.
- But there weren’t any dragons in the skies, so you doubted there were any dragons left.
- Ah, that- that was okay, though! You could last being alone. For the rest of your long, long life.
- You weren’t weak.
- Oh? Huh, you caught a familiar scent drifting around the snowy floors beneath your perch. The tree rustled slightly as you leaned down to search for that smell.
- There he was! You found him!
- He was walking through the forest, shivering slightly since he only had the cloak. It had been a few days, a few long days since Cora was taken away. He was alone now.
- But he had his devil fruit to survive, if he could just figure out how to use it properly.
- He wandered through the trees, coughing to himself as his illness had stopped destroying his body. It was still there, but he, uh, still didn’t know exactly how to utilize his new powers.
- At most, the boy could only make a tiny sphere, barely anything in comparison to Cora’s large spacial room when he demonstrated the silencing devil fruit.
- He had to take a break. He was just barely caught digging around the trashcan of a restaurant in search of something to eat.
- Luckily the chefs weren’t too keen on trudging through heavy snow to find the little rat as they screamed at him. He was no rat, however. Just a boy trying to live in the light Cora had given him.
- It was so hard. Some moments, like when he was nearly nabbed by a drunken pirate, the boy wanted it all the go away. He missed his family.
- He missed his mother. His father. His little sister. His home. The friends of his old class. There were so many names floating around his head…Cora. He missed Cora. He wanted it all to just- what was that?!
- Another attack?! Did they really try to come find him in this thick snow?? He had struggled trying to walk through the packed snow- he was trapped! If they were right behind him, how could he run?!
- Ah. The child was panicking again. But the moment you made yourself known, peeking from around a trunk, the human child had calmed down. His chest still heaved, though not frantically as before.
- How strange. He was all alone again.
- You knew humans to be quite the social creatures, kind of like most dragons were back in the days. They stuck together in packs, always seeking a group to stay with.
- But how strange. The child was alone in the vast white fields.
- You crept closer, keeping your guard up in case there was an ambush or the child suddenly attacked. Although…judging from his scent, you didn’t catch the scene today any metal on him. No weapon.
- The child was alone. No way to defend himself. He was weak, his body seeming even more frail than before…or maybe that’s just how you perceived him since dragons were more durable than humans.
- Uh…goodness, for such a small human child, his stomach was as loud as a Thunderdrum.
- Hmm. You were also feeling quite hungry. With nubby ears no longer being irritated by the shrieks of the youn- child, you could tolerate his presence more.
- You could hear a stream nearby. Knowing this part of the island well, you were sure to find some fresh fish to eat! Ehm, but about the human child, who still stared at you with wide sized eyes.
- Well, you guess it wouldn’t hurt to at least give him something so he’d last.
- You couldn’t help but feel like you were looking at your younger self, shivering against those horrid green colored bars as the humans dragged your siblings out and- ah. Never mind. Focus on the present. There was nothing you could do now.
- The boy was startled to see the dragon, what did the villagers call it again? Light Fury? The Light Fury walk away, leaving a large path in the snow behind it.
- What was it doing?
- He should’ve known better than to mindlessly follow the trail. But he was still a lost boy trying to restart his life in honor of his family, in honor of Cora.
- He was confused as to why the Light Fury spent so much energy waltzing through the snow instead of just flying away. It was stranger to find that it lead him to a river…WOAH.
- The human child couldn’t survive in such cold waters, so it seemed you’d have to fish for both of you.
- You threw the first two fish from the river, one of them hitting his face as he scrambled back baffled. Or maybe that was disgust. You couldn’t tell. You studied their behavior, not their faces.
- But once you got two fishes for the boy, you sent on catching your own meal. Catching the jackpot, you didn’t hesitate to gobble up as many fish as you’d wanted, filling your empty belly with ease.
- Nubby ears perked up with interest when you turned back to the youngling.
- He was rubbing sticks together? Then he was hitting rocks together…what in the great Red Line was he doing??? Oh! There was a small spark! Fire? Did the child need fire?
- …oooh, right. Humans like to place their food on fires and then eat them.
- Well, it seemed the youngling needed a bit of assistance, watching the tiny flame go out when a harsh breeze blew by. You padded over, water dripping off of your glimmering white scales, before blowing a steady stream of fire onto the pile of sticks he gathered.
- Fire! The Light Fury had made fire! Ah- but what gain did it have in making a fire? The boy didn’t know. Eh, he wasn’t complaining; just curious.
- Sticking the two fish that were thrown at him, he could cook his meal! In no time, with how hot the fire was, the fish were fried and the smell made his stomach growl again.
- By Odin, you’d think there was a Screaming Death around with how loud the youngling’s tummy growled. But you were the only dragon present. So that ruled out any chance of your idea.
- But you just watched the boy scarfing the fish down like a Terrible Terror. He was…kinda funny, in a strange human way.
- No no no. Don’t. You didn’t have time for this. You had other places to be. Other skies to fly. Other things to do like…uh, other marines to mess with.
- If this youngling couldn’t make his own fire, how would he survive? He wouldn’t. So that made him weak.
- Ah…uhm, you weren’t weak. You survived. You had to survive.
- For your family.
- And so, you flew away.

- The snow fell harshly, blizzard sweeping through the northern islands. All was as usual.
- Well, all except for the attack on Minion Island. Marines vs Pirates. But you couldn’t be bothered. Why would you care? After all, you weren’t personal with either side, not to mention humans themselves.
- Humans. Those vile creature that tried to hunt your kind to extinction. Your memory was perfect, each detail from the last 200 years were intact. But that was a story for another time. Right now, you were swerving through flying nets, diving cannonballs, and avoiding capture.
- You were the infamous Light Fury.
- Child of the skies and glider of clouds. As big, if not slightly bigger, as a Clydesdale Horse. Your scales were like pearl, prettier than any kind. With your plasma based fire, you could make yourself invisible for in a moment’s notice, like a magician disappearing from the stage.
- Disappearing.
- Now how come you didn’t just use your disappearing act and fly away unnoticed? Well, where was the fun in that? It wasn’t like you got much action from the humans when you hid away.
- If you wanted to hide, you could. If you wanted to make your presence known, you could. These humans were nothing to you…but oh, how wrong you’d be.
- Just a normal day of flying, agitating the humans, and then going on with your peaceful life. Though, it wasn’t part of the plan to find a stray human child wandering the snow banks of a village’s outskirts.
- He was tiny, frail even, drowning in his ragged brown cloak. It reminded you of a potato sack. The child’s hat was strange as well. Kind of like a snow leopard- that’s besides the point.
- His face was painted with a bright red hue, his nose running and droplets leaking from his eyes. He was in distress.
- The spots on his skin didn’t help his appearance.
- He couldn’t think straight. The sound of Doffy’s crew behind him, battling the Marines, made his head hurt. Or maybe that was because of his tears. His medical books did say that crying made headaches worse. He couldn’t breathe through his nose. His nose.
- Cora’s nose.
- The blood ran down Cora’s nose, his mouth no different. Cora’s face was covered with blood and scratches…no, his head was surrounded by red.
- Red. Red. Red, red, red red red- his chest was red. His blood was red. It was all…white?
- What was that? There that moved in front of him? Blue.
- Striking blue eyes were right in front of him. A…a dragon?! But- but he thought dragons were just of legend! The villagers never believed the marines when they told stories of that pearly white dragon slinking around in the clouds!
- Blue. Such electric blue eyes, pupils that of a cat’s.
- He was going to be eaten. Cora had just died for him, and now…and now he was about to die to a dragon. Cora’s deaths oils be in vain.
- He couldn’t- no more- his head hurt too much. His ears were ringing. His own cries made his brain want to explode.
- He felt back, tripping on his cloak as it grew closer.
- You could smell his fear. His tears were so salty. His cheeks and nose looked too red to be healthy…it wasn’t like you cared for humans, but you did spend a bit of your years studying the interesting creatures. And now, here, right in front of you, was a human youngling.
- Er, child. A human child.
- He looked like he was about to pass out, his chest rising up and down at an abnormal pace. Oh, you must be intimidating him. The moment you backed off proved you right.
- His eyes widened, confusion written all over his face. The little child looked so lost. He was…so sad. His cries like a tormented youngli- child. A child. Right, right, he wasn’t a youngling, he was a child.
- His cries wouldn’t stop though…they kinda hurt your sensitive ears. Your nubby ears were pinned to your head, eyes scrunched up at the high sounds of his endless wailing. Agh, too much.
- You darted into the sky.
- This little human child was weak. He was weak. Weak: lacking physical strength.
- But then again, so were you. You were in the same position as him. You were once wounded like he was. All so long ago. It was the reason you despised him.
- No. Not him. Not the youngling. His kind, the humans. It wasn’t even that long ago, about a hundred years prior…but that story would never be revealed to the world.
- Unless someone found those four red blocks those humans carved.
- You still wondered why they carved such intricate red blocks. But no matter. Humans were weak. That youngling was weak…you were once weak. But never again.
- Never again would you be weak.
- Right?

- Stories of dragons weren’t uncommon in Middle Earth and one particular story told of a dragon with scales black as a moonless night.
- However, none of these stories were consistent. Some say the dragon was as big as a mountain while others described it as small as a dog. The dragon had four wings, no, it had two but only hind legs! It had a purple fire, not true, that was just the lightning it could conjure…each detail was different except for the fact that the worst time it could strike was at night.
- Thus the beast was named the Night Fury, for when it attacked all hell would break loose.
- This beast brought storms and thunder, angering the skies and lighting up the clouds with lightning.
- This beast was you.
- You had eyes that were glimmering emeralds, holding a fierce and wild stare. Only two wings and four legs, with splittable spines for better flight. You were around the size of a large horse with a round head and six nubby ears.
- It was true, what the stories told of you hunting during the night, but you only ever attacked villages and kingdoms for food. It wasn’t fair, after all, that the creatures of the ground hogged all the food.
- So it was reasonable that you’d take your share of whatever it was you wanted to eat! You never emptied an entire stock, but you were still a dragon so you had to eat more than a normal creature.
- You also had to deal with that stupid wyvern that occupied the one lonely mountain. He was always stingy about you hunting in his territory, so just to avoid his nagging and annoying being, you stayed out of the way.
- It was one night you had found a group of small looking humans, dwarves or dwarrow of you knew them, a tinier person, and a man that reeked of magic. Some were by a campfire while others were living about doing whatever.
- Deciding you wanted to know what they were doing, seeing two of them were located by some ponies, you sneakily landed behind one of the dwarves and waited for him to discover you.
- The dwarf was on the taller side and had dirty blond hair. You could smell the many metal weapons on his being as he turned around and spotted you.
- Fili was trying to find his brother at the moment, who had probably wandered off, when he looked back. Two large and dilated eyes stared right back as the dwarf couldn’t tell what this creature was. He had slowly reached towards his sword before hearing the beast growl at his motion.
- You didn’t take too kindly towards aggression as a first impression, but you didn’t want to just fight the dwarf.
- Fili halted before going back to his previously relaxed, now somewhat stiff, posture. He looked utterly confused as to what the beast was, considering the moonlight couldn’t reach the forest floor and it hid in the shadows.
- You sensed the dwarf was a bit disoriented and didn’t make a move yet. Your pupils enlarged as you were relaxing, feeling that the dwarf wasn’t going to mindlessly attack you, unlike some other humans have done in your previous encounters.
- Fili tilted his head right before his eyes grew wide as saucers. You had emerged from where you hid and Fili was mortified.
- You were a dragon…he was interacting with a dragon.
- What should he do? Would you attack him? He should scream for the others, but you didn’t seem dangerous? What were you doing in this forest?
- Questions ran through Fili’s mind as he saw you sniffing around him and then sniff at his person entirely. You were noting where his weapons were and that he also appeared frighten now.
- You were a beast, but you had a mind as well. Trying to show you meant no harm, and were just curious to him and his group, you lay down and cooed towards the dwarf.
- Fili was now weirded out by the dragon’s antics. Why was it being so friendly? Was it playing dumb? It lay down…it couldn’t possibly be thinking of hurting him seeing it in such a docile state?
- You were gradually getting bored of the dwarf’s frozen stance and opted to make a move yourself. You brought your head forward and sniffed at his belt where his daggers were located. Fili had jolted, thinking the worst, before he saw you take a dagger into your mouth and…chew it?
- You noticed how nice the metal, since it was a stolen elven weapon from months ago, and enjoyed the taste of the metal. Now, you weren’t a Gronkle, but even dragons that weren’t obsessed with gold or rocks had an appreciation towards metals.
- Fili continued to look on as you just used his weapon like some kind of chew toy. It seemed the dragon had taken a liking to his dagger, but why wasn’t it flying away now? He watched as you dropped the weapon before diving in for one of his larger swords located over his shoulder. The dwarf flinched before he let out a kind of nervous chuckle as you began chewing on this weapon now.
- You held the weapon in your mouth before turning towards the dwarf. You tilted your head sideways and trilled before bumping your round muzzle to his chest, pushing him back a bit.
- Fili was surprised before he made a kind of offended sound and reached to push your head in retaliation. You were quick to drop the sword and shoved him back even harder. Before you knew it, you and the dwarf were wrestling on the floor- well, more like you were “manhandling” him and throwing him around as he knew how to brace himself.
- You didn’t know how long you were playing around with the blond dwarf before you and he heard the sound of another voice calling to him.
- Oh no, it was Kili! Fili looked panicked as he tapped your snout, you immediately letting go, and dropping him to the floor. You watched him collected the dagger and sword before dashing off into the dark forest.
- You were intrigued at what caught his attention, but also felt hungry now that you spent some of your energy using weapons and a dwarf as chew toys. You flew off into the night, camouflaged with the sky as you heard the voices of other dwarves yelling about “trolls” or something, not that you could care.
- It wouldn’t be until you were hunting spiders for food that you’d meet with the group again, missing their magic man. Perhaps next time, you’ll make some more dwarf friends?
- After all, this dwarf was so friendly despite your kind, what could go wrong?

└───❀*̥˚ ──•❃°•°❀°•°❃•── ❀*̥˚ ───┘
- You were one of the spirits that dwelled around human settlements. You kept the villages safe from the horrors of the North, so the humans returned their gratitude with respect and honor.
- In the North, where the rest of your kin lived, it was relatively peaceful till the red vines took over. You and the rest of the spirits were forcibly pushed out, infected, or killed; no one was safe.
- Many humans and spirits, including you, were infected even if the victim hadn’t noticed at the time. Soon, everyone, fled the lands to seek safety elsewhere.
- You headed from mountain to mountain trying to find a safe place to live, but the vines would always find you. Eventually, you noticed that you had been infected.
- Luckily, the vines disappeared…along with any familiarity of your surrounds. You were somewhere new.
- You spent the first few years gathering information about where you landed. It seemed that the vines couldn’t reach you. And so you were safe for the time being.
- A couple ages later, the Fellowship was struggling through the deep snow along The Pass of Caradhras; Saruman had ambushed them and brought down an avalanche to bury them.
- The poor members were faced with either resisting the blizzard or trraveling to Moria, and with Frodo’s opinion, they would go under the mountain. However, the trip down would be much harder with the fresh snow.
- They all started on their way, trying to backtrack to the base of the mountain. Eventually, Merry became distracted by a bright orange spot in the middle of white.
- He turned to Pippin and they started whispering about the weird dot of color in the snow. It wasn’t until Boromir, who was slightly behind the two hobbits, noticed they stopped walking.
- Merry and Pippin then started pointing out very excitedly that they saw a tiny dot of orange in the snowy background. Boromir looked to where the hobbits were pointing and did see the strange orange dot.
- The rest of the Fellowship realized three of their members weren’t following behind; soon enough, everyone was trying to get a glimpse of what Merry and Pippin spotted.
- The little orange dot slowly but gradually started growing. It was coming closer to them.
- Everyone had their guard up now due to their poor vision and lack of knowledge about the orange dot. Not even Gandalf was aware of who or what this was. But it grew near.
- Eventually, it was so close they could make out the shape of an animal; a fox to be specific. They were surprised to see an orange fox in the snowy pass.
- You were surprised as well. You didn’t recognize these folk and they seemed to be troubled by your appearance. You’ve seen other people tread the pass, however, it was never during a blizzard. What could these people be doing here at a time like this?
- The hobbits along with Gandalf were the first to put down their weapons, only keeping their guard up in case the fox attacked. Next was Aragorn and Legolas, both keeping their weapon in hand pointing them to the ground. Boromir and Gimli were the only ones of the group that still had their weapons raised; sure it wasn’t really necessary, but tensions were high and they weren’t ready to relax atop a mountain pass.
- You could feel that something about the situation was off, so you decided to help them down the mountain. You helped the kinds humans back at home, why couldn’t you do it once more, before time ran out?
- You noticed four creatures, with abnormally large feet, that you’ve never seen before. How interesting!
- Oh, must focus on your task.
- Pippin was surprised as the fox gently bit into his cloak and backed up with a tugging motion. He went along with you and the other close behind.
- You took them to a more safer path even with the thick snow and blizzard. The group finally let their guard down once they felt the route was safe enough.
- You and the others made your way to the base of the mountain with less difficultly than before. The time came when the Fellowship was off to head for Moria.
- It was also time for you to wander once more. You turned around and slowly trotted away atop the snow. Perhaps you could visit some of the villages again. Many were welcoming to your presence and guidance.
- “Hey, wait! Where d’ya think you’re going?!”
- It was one of the tiny, big footed creatures. They were calling for you to come back. Turning around again, you hesitantly trotted to the tiny person’s hand.
- “We didn’t get t’thank you for your help! I’m Pipping, that’s Merry, and Boromir, and Frodo, and Sam, and…”
- You spaced out as you gazed at the many faces of your ex-followers. They were smiling at you, unlike the first time when they appeared wary.
- Pippin dragged you towards the other hobbits and started showing you off as if you were an old friend. The others were laughing saying “Of course we know our guide!” or “Pippin, we were also on the mountain with you!”
- The others’ smiles widened seeing their fellow members playing with you, Merry and Pippin trying to saddle you like a horse. They were fairly interested in what you were doing in the pass.
- They also took notice that parts of your fur seemed to be stained with red and black; they others assumed it was part of your coat, but that didn’t stop them from being concerned should something was wrong.
- “Mmm, enough of your fool’s play. We must make our way to Moria.” The old looking magic man spoke to the group and started down the path.
- With two of the four tiny people on your back, you also trailed behind the magic man and in front of a stout, thick-bearded man.
- As the days passed by, whenever your group stopped, you decided to pull your weight by hunting for the group. Bringing back birds, fish, and other available creatures, the tiny chef would hand you some of the food you caught.
- Along the road, you were deemed “Forncala” by your friends, specifically Aragorn and Legolas. The hobbits, and Gimli, were the first to try and name you. Although it was Aragorn and Legolas’s suggestion of the elvish word “North” as your name. A way to never forget your origins.
- The first half of Forncala stuck like tree sap. You would respond to only “Forn” while when called with “Fluffy”, “Red”, and “Fern” you didn’t react.
- The second half “Cala” came from one of the nights your group was attacked by orcs. It was a surprise attack with the orcs being fruitful in their attempts at putting out your fire. The only ones who weren’t struggling in the dark were Legolas, Gandalf, and you of course.
- While fighting off the many orca, you were fast to notice your more unfortunate friends struggling in the dark. So you shook into your guardian form and began dashing around the orcs.
- It helped in distracting the enemy as they hadn’t suspected you to change, but it also distracted your friends. They faltered in their attack as they witnessed you produce a bright light blue glow.
- But just as you hoped, your friends were able to turn the tides and kill off the remaining orcs. Once the Fellowship gathered themselves, they inspected your new transparent body with fascination.
- It was the next night when Legolas suggested to the others of adding “cala” to your name “Forn”. And so you became Forncala, North Light.
- If only they knew how closely related your name was to your job back at home.
- Yet so continued your journey with the Fellowship to the Mines of Moria…and your friends’ never ending wonder over you.
- All was going relatively well, until you all arrived. An attack of a water monster, the cave in of the door, and now the troubles within the halls.
- The old magic man, who’s name you learned was Gandalf, commented that the halls were extremely dark and he wasn’t lying. Not even the elf, Legolas, could see far into the darkness.
- The others were successful in avoiding making too much noise, but they still complained about losing their sense of sight. So you once again provided them light; metaphorically and literally.
- You switched out of your physical form and padded gently down the halls, giving off the same recognizable light blue glow. And seeing your friend’s smiling faces was enough to tell you they were thankful for your aid.
- Soon enough, Gimli, the thick-bearded man, ran off towards a room where he fell to his knees and failed in sorrow. Gandalf softly mentioned it was as he feared…oh dear.
- You trotted up next to your sobbing friend and nuzzled against his unarmed hand. He brought you into a tight hug, one that probably would’ve hurt a regular living fox.
- Nonetheless, you stayed still and brushed your muzzle against his face and helmet. He smush his face into your fur and cried his heart out. While being cradled by the dwarrow, you thought deep into the past.
- Before your meeting of the Fellowship, there was one particular group that men of the same figure as Gimli. You caught wind that the leader’s name was Balin and his group was yet another victim of the harsh pass. Guiding them to the base, Balin told you the dwarrow would never forget your kindness, even if you were merely fox.
- This was him wasn’t it? Balin, one of your ex-followers. Oh, how tragic…how terrible to know that he and his group hadn’t survived their journey. You sat down in silence as you processed your thoughts. Could you have helped them if you stayed by their side? What if- !
- A loud bang drew you out of your thoughts. My how you kept spacing out…it wasn’t normal, but focusing back of Pippin’s figure, Gandalf yelled out in anger while the others lowered their heads in defeat.
- The banging of drums and screeching of goblins filled your ears as you peered around the room. Danger, it was approaching fast.
- Your darted to the door and growled with your canines bared and tail fluffed up. The glow from your body grew brighter as Aragorn, Boromir, and Legolas barred the door.
- Dodge, duck, snap, scratch. Repeat. The troll, it threatens the hobbits. Quickly, defend them.
- Things escalated quickly as the room flooded with goblins and trolls. You did your best to keep the biggest threats at bay. breaking the goblins’ weapons and distracting them with your agility and glow, your friends were able to lessen the number enough to make an escape.
- It was unfortunate timing, but you realized your infection got worse. The black and red were spreading; it was extremely slow, but still spreading.
- After making sure Frodo was just fine, you and the group ran deeper into the mine looking for the exit. Your thoughts clouded your mind over.
- How could you keep your friends alive? What was causing the infection to spread? Should you die, would the infection spread into this world? How horrible…a wonderful place, like your old home, falling by the same red vines.
- You couldn’t…no, you wouldn’t allow it to happen. It will never happen.
- “FORN, LOOK OUT!”
- It was an instinct. Left, right, right again, jump. You knew where the debris were falling and performed you title as “guardian” perfectly.
- Everything was passing so fast, but you did your best to focus on the task at hand. Protect your friends, guide them to the light.
- You soon came to your senses when you noticed that you were in front of a broken bridge with your friend on the other side. Each one made their way over the gap, all but the magic man.
- Gandalf falling, the hobbits crying, the rest of you racing down the mountain; everything was blurring together.
- Oh you’ve stopped. You set yourself down as you began to black out. What was happening?
- Boromir was the one to inspect your side first seeing that the red and black splotches was practically covering up your glow. You were…fading?
- Your light dimmed as the red and black patches forced your body back to that of a regular fox’s. The group was concerned to see you in such a state. They may have only known you for a bit, but that didn’t mean they weren’t attached to you.
- Legolas and Aragorn notified the others that the way to Lothlórien was close. If they decided to, they could meet Lady Galadriel and possibly have you healed from this strange occurrence.
- When Merry and Pippin, who were next to Boromir during the inspection, saw small leaves and plants sprouting from the blotches, they screamed at the top of their lungs, incoherent and panicked. It was then when the group unanimously agreed to meet the Lady Galadriel, even if Gimli was wary of her.
- As they hurried, the hobbits and Boromir kept a track of the plants and vines. They were helpless as they watched your fur gradually fade into a deep red with black patches fading here and there.
- The vines sprouting from those patches slowly wrapped around your neck and paws. Small bulbs came up with the tiny sprouts; it was terrifying and painful to see.
- You were unresponsive to anything, even your name. You hadn’t moved since you passed out in Boromir’s gloved hands.
- Your blood was staining Boromir’s gear, but he could care less as he saw the small vines taking over your body.
- Everyone was worried, but luckily for you, it wasn’t time just yet.
