It’s because he’s one of the few characters in fiction who has a story where he has dedicated his life to revenge, his whole motivation is about getting revenge….and he gets it! and then he isn’t empty or despairing! he doesn’t regret it! he’s totally satisfied!

because so many stories about revenge or rage are about characters “seeing the futility of their actions” or learning “their desire for revenge has only made them the monsters they hated” FUCK THAT.

Inigo Montoya kills the man who kills his father, is allowed to live in the narrative after and be happy about it and it is so satisfying. it’s fantastic. it’s iconic.

let more characters rage against the world, bring it down with bloodied hands, and let them be FUCKING RIGHT about it. Let them celebrate their success with sharp grins, and let them live happy, full lives where they always remain proud/fulfilled for what they’ve done

Kai monstrosity yet every action he takes is one he knows a fellow ninja would’ve.

And every action he takes is in memory, in honour of the ones he loves as if he is already mourning them.

I’ve said this many times now, but Kai isn’t just Kai. He is everyone he loves, and when they are gone, he clings to their memory like a lost child in a crowd.

Buggy is prone to emotional outbursts and can say rude things, so I wondered if he was once upon a time arguing with Rayleigh about something serious and said something like "You're not even my father, so get off of me!"

I know it's probably a cliche in the "found family" trope, but it's always heartbreaking for me and Buggy looks like a kid who would create such a situation (Shanks would probably not say that)

I love a good angst and I love found family and the “you’re not my father/mother” angst cliche is still good when you do it right!

As I said before we don’t know if Buggy grew up or was picked up on the Oro Jackson, but what I really want and like to read about is Rayleigh being a very close parental figure to him. And like most parent and child relationship they are prone to fight, especially as Buggy grows older.

So yes, he’d definitely get too angry one day and would blurt out “You’re not my dad!” Sentence.

I imagine everyone on the Oro Jackson would pause what they were doing or say and look in shock at the boy. But you know what will hurt more?

If Rayleigh didn’t react!

Him wife eyes, looking at Buggy in shock, and after Buggy sees everyone’s reaction realizes he went too far and looks back to Rayleigh fear growing within him, he would think that the first mate would punish him in some way but is shocked when the man doesn’t do or say anything in fact he just walks past Buggy and continues doing his work.

Buggy doesn’t think much about it but if he tried asking Rayleigh for help or ask his opinion about something he would ignore him or say….

“That’s a task is for a father to do, and I’m not your father on your superior on this Ship, as long as it doesn’t have anything to do with the ship, the crew, your job as a cabin boy, or Captain Roger then I don’t want to hear it.”

And Buggy would get hurt because he still pets Shanks’s hair and praises him like he used to do with him. But Buggy would be still stubborn and won’t think that he needs to apologize but he still wants Rayleigh to react to him….

Start doing good things….

Washing the deck clean, eating all his veggies, doesn’t fight Shanks, finishes any educational task he would give Shanks. But Rayleigh would react or Say anything.

Then he’d do bad things….

He’d hurt Shanks, bother everyone in the crew including Roger, sabotages everyone’s tasks by pulling pranks in everyone and every time he’d look towards Rayleigh who only tells everyone to clean it up.

I think there will be a breaking point where the teo stubborn child and adults would have to confront each other….

Either by Buggy doing something so dangerous that almost kills him but Rayleigh is there to save him.

Or

Buggy pushing on Rayleigh’s last button and he would scream at Buggy to behave, which Buggy would accept it because he is so happy that Rayleigh (his father) is finally talking to him again.

I know this is going to make me sound pretensions but I have to get it off my chest. I feel an unimaginable rage when someone posts a photo and is like "this picture looks like a renaissance painting lol" when the photo clearly has the lighting, colors and composition of a baroque or romantic painting. There are differences in these styles and those differences are important and labeling every "classical" looking painting as renaissance is annoying and upsetting to me. And anytime I come across one of those posts I have to put down my phone and go take a walk because they make me so mad
