All of your names [Katsuki Bakugou/Reader one-shot]
In the very beginning, there was the Asshole. To be honest, you didn't like him at first. You two would argue a lot about irrelevant stuff, and even though your friends always told you to let go, you couldn't bring yourself to listen. There was something very annoying about the way the Asshole carried himself. Something that made you want to bring him to the ground, to make him feel like a complete idiot.
It took a while, but you finally realized, that the Asshole was pretty hardworking and dedicated to everything he did. Once after an argument, you decided that you can't stand each other anymore, and you just have to fight. That was the first time you sparred with the Asshole. Since then, you trained together a few more times. You felt some kind of respect for him, and before you knew it, the two of you didn't yell at each other with such passion anymore. And that's how you met Bakugou.
Bakugou was... loud. Obnoxious. Angry. He annoyed you, but it was bearable. There were a few moments when you thought he was pretty okay, mostly when Kirishima was kind enough to explain his friend's behavior, so you wouldn't misunderstand. The first time the two of you talked without raising your voices, you discovered that there were some things you had in common. You started to turn your attention towards him some more and noticed he's a good student and a true hero at heart. It took a couple more small talks and some of Kirishima's encouragement, but gradually, Bakugou changed to Baku.
Now, Baku was fun. He was the type of person to tease his friends and laugh at them, to yell while playing games, and getting mad when he loses. It was easy for you to drag him in your little games, having the two of you compete at stuffing your faces with as many burgers as possible in 5 minutes, or betting on how many pencils each of you can hold with your face only. Baku would stand on your side when you argued with someone, and glare at people you didn't like. He never invited you anywhere, but always agreed on going out when you asked. And somewhere in between of those fun moments you shared, Baku became Katsuki.
At first, his name felt uncomfortable in your mouth. You always used it consciously, carefully studying his face as you did. At the time, you weren't exactly sure if he even noticed. He never commented on it, like it was nothing out of the ordinary, and soon, it became natural for you to call his first name. You noticed how Baku was much more distant than Katsuki was. Katsuki even showed you some of his good sides. It wasn't much — things like buying you a drink, even though you never asked, or teasing you in a playful, not offensive way. Sometimes, Katsuki would bump your shoulder with his while laughing, or pat your head after he finished teasing you to show you he didn't really mean any of those. He allowed you to see him frustrated and down, you knew when he had a good day and when something was wrong. He would text you first sometimes, just to nag about this and that (usually Deku), invite you for games or share a funny meme. It didn't take much for him to become Katsu.
There was no denying you liked Katsu. Sure, he had his moments, but he was good-natured, and it really seeped through at this point. He always noticed when you got a bad grade in a class and sometimes invite himself over to casually explain the topic to you. His tutoring was sassy and he got annoyed easily, but even though he yelled at you a lot, he had enough patience to continue until you got the topic right. Sometimes, he would ask you a question about an exercise he had troubles with and you would solve it together.
Katsu lets you win in video games sometimes. You always noticed because he didn't get angry afterward. He would just click his tongue and admit his defeat. From time to time he took a nap in your room or just hung out with you in silence. He scolded you (loudly and rudely) for wearing too little clothes when it got colder, and he would lend you his umbrella when it rained.
It was about then that Katsu started to call you by your first name. Katsu that called your first name was the Katsu you fell in love with. He was never kind nor gentle, but he made you feel hella special. He smiled at you with a genuine smile and laughed at your jokes. At the training, he would take you seriously, even though your quirk couldn't measure to his. He gave you some tips at what he thought could be improved and helped you to practice new moves. For your birthday he made you a huge cake, which he left in your room without a word before leaving. When you invited him over to eat it together, he declined at first, but you somehow managed to convince him to come.
That night, his lips tasted like chocolate cake, and it was probably the most addicting flavor you've ever tasted. His hand was shaky as it held yours, but his red eyes were steady and confident. During the next couple of weeks, you got to meet your honey.
Your honey was possessive. He would walk with his arm draped around your shoulders, glaring at anyone who dared to approach you. His satisfied smirk was often present, especially when you made a move to wrap your fingers around his sweaty ones. He was warm, always warmer than you, comfortable to snuggle into when it was cold. When you cuddled to him, he would rarely hug you back — sometimes he would just rest his arm on your back, or tip his head towards you, but you still enjoyed it. He always smelled like caramel and firecrackers, and you were surprised to discover that the combination weirdly fit. The two of you still play games and teased each other, but now it often ended with you making out.
And then you became his baby. It was a casual nickname he would drop from time to time. After you graduated and started living together, he would use it a lot more than before. “Baby, have you seen my shirt? Long sleeves, blue stripes, you know the one!” or “Babe! Fucking hurry up, we'll be late! I swear, next time I'm going alone!” or maybe “Baby? Why are you still up, it's so late! Shit, did I wake you up?”
After a long day at work, your honey would kick off his shoes and go straight to the couch. He would grab your knees, spread your legs and fall on top of you, burying his face in your stomach. He would sigh, close his eyes and just rest, as long as you let him. If you tried to speak, he would grunt, demanding you to “shut your goddamn mouth and let him die in peace.” It was tough, being a hero. Your schedules often didn't match, and sometimes you almost wouldn't see each other for a few days. But then, you came back in the middle of the night, to find your boyfriend sleeping soundly on your bed, face snuggled to your pillow, covers thrown to the side. You would kiss his temple and fix the sheets, and after a quick shower, you joined him in your bed. He didn't always wake up, but when he did, he always spooned you and mumbled a sleepy “welcome home, baby”.
“Yeah, I'm here,” you said, already drifting off to sleep. “Are you going to be here when I wake up?”
“No,” Katsu sighed, nosing at the skin behind your ear. You felt the huffs of his breath move your hair as he chuckled. “Will you be here when I come back?”
“Guess not...” you murmured, feeling disappointed.
“So we have only this moment now, huh?” He pulled you impossibly closer to his own body, and you felt him smile against your skin. “I'll take when I got then... But we're taking a week off from monday on.”
“Sounds like a plan,” you nodded, smiling, your consciousness slipping out of your mind. The last thing you registered was a small kiss being placed at your neck before you fell asleep.
Little did you know, that next week, your honey was about to become your fiance. But, that's another story, right?
