Sally Dawn Williams is the youngest inhabitant of undergrowth hotel. She is eight years old, and fully alive. Instead of being killed, she was kidnapped by Slenderman and brought to the hotel, not as food, but rather to be raised somewhere safer than her previous home. Unfortunately, Slender underestimated the needs of a human child. He expected Sally to be like a cat. She's a sweet girl, who at first was very anxious and wary of everyone, but overtime becomes much more friendly. She's especially fond of the three slenders, and is the only person in the hotel that's able to walk around their floor(s) without fear.

Ben Drowned Character Introduction

Ben (full name Bennet Lawman) is one of many ghosts living in the hotel. However, unlike most of the other ghosts, Ben is fully corporeal, being visible a majority of the time and very very physical. He was raised inside a cult who convinced him he was ''the chosen one'', and as a result, he now has a major god complex. He's a brat to almost everyone except for EJ and doesn't believe he's actually dead. He is about fourteen years old and when he isn't annoying the other residents of the hotel by making fun of them or making furniture float, he's holed up in the hotel's arcade.

Just had the idea of Tim in this au having a stutter 🤔 came from the idea of Hoodie giving him a concussion at one point and Tim ends up sleeping on it which ends in him gaining a stutter. Not sure if I’ll make it canon, its really just a random thought that popped into my head but I think it could be interesting

I am incredibly torn between making Candy Pop much taller than the average human (7-9 ft) or making him comically short (around 4ft). Both are good options and I honestly can't decide

concept art for this au's version of EJ! went with a bug theme for his design (mostly moths mixed with ants). he's got the fluff of a moth, mandibles and antennae of an ant, a butterfly-esque tongue and a scorpion tail (not pictured)

Hotel Undergrowth Guide

In this au, all the characters (save for the Circus Crew) reside inside of a 'hotel' created by Slender as a base of operations, and I wanted to talk about that more in depth! So here.

Hotel Undergrowth is very similar to the hotel in The Shining. The movie was filmed with a wide lens, which makes the rooms and hotel look much larger and more engulfing. The characters are being swallowed up by the scenery. That's what Hotel Undergrowth is modeled after. It feels impossibly large.

The hotel itself is not a real hotel, there's no staff, no manager and no guests. Only the Slenders and the creeps. The hotel is within a pocket dimension. Surrounded by acres of snowy forest.

Some have tried to walk into the forest and leave, but inevitably they arrive back at the hotel again. The hotel itself feels, and very well could be, infinite. It's scarily quiet at times, with long stretching halls. Navigating it is difficult. Doesn't help that the rooms and halls sometimes decide to switch and move around.

The hotel has tons of rooms. Most are unused. Sometimes they're locked, and sometimes they aren't. Some rooms will have the standard, copy-pasted decor while others will have a completely different theme, be completely blank or be ransacked and destroyed. Because the rooms like to move around, the creeps tend to paint or mark the doors to their own rooms in order to keep track of them.

Some rooms in the hotel stay constant. The Slenders are always on the higher or highest floors. Very few people dare to go up there unless they have to, and you can tell it's one of their floors by the unnatural coldness and flickering lights. The cafeteria never moves, so food is easily accessible. Though the decor in the lobby sometimes changes, it never moves from the ground floor. The gym and pool room will move up and down the floors, but they always stay the exact same in terms of looks and equipment. There's a dance hall that sometimes plays music or echoes voices of performers that aren't there. The music most commonly plays at night, and the hall itself will almost always be a few floors above or below Jeff's room.

Nina Hopkins Character Intro

Nina Hopkins, originally from Missouri, is 15 years old and lives under Slender, being taken care of primarily by Jeff. Unlike Sally or Ben, Slender was not the one to bring here there. She was actually taken to Hotel Undergrowth by Jason the toymaker, whom she befriended, because he thought she'd be safest there. Nina is a quiet, shy girl who doesn't think very highly of herself. Jeff worries about her a lot, and lets her stick close to him so he can keep an eye on her. She has a crush on Toby, but hides it very well.

Jeffery Darcie McKenna Character Intro

AKA Jeff The Killer

Jeff, sometimes referred to as Darcie, originates from Donegal, Ireland and is currently 39 years of age. He works as a Surrogate. Similar to a proxy, but with more dangerous tasks to achieve such as feeding the Slenderman. He resides with EJ and Slender has entrusted him with the responsibility of looking after Nina, Sally and Ben. He assists the proxies when needed, particularly with training the younger ones (Toby, Doby and Cody). He can seem mean with his grisly appearance and harsh tone, but he is quite kind when you get used to him. His weapon of choice is his hurley.
