Leon: If I die first, promise to wait up for me, okay, Merlin ?
Merlin : Oh, Leon. When I die, I’m taking you with me.
Leon: I can’t tell if that’s a threat or a compliment.
Merlin : I’d think of it more as a grim inevitability.
Little do they know neither of them will get to die.

Merlin: Sir, can you help me with my wedding?
Arthur: Huh...? You’re getting married?
Merlin: Yeah.
Arthur: Oh, that’s great... so what do you want me to do?
Merlin: Be the groom.

This would probably be Arthur if he had survived after discovering Merlin's magic:
Arthur: I am King Arthur. This is my sorcerer, Merlin. He’ll kill you if I want him to. I’ll kill you if I want to. I don’t want to—but I’m easily influenced. Are we clear?
Vilain: 😰
Merlin: 😈

You think Merlin ever had to train another servant? Like he was there for years and would’ve been really high up in the hierarchy.
Probably only happened once though because he’d be that one coworker that goes you’re supposed to do it like this but I definitely don’t, then get someone fired by telling them about something only he’s allowed to do.

Gwen and Lancelot are having dinner and reach for the same piece of chicken.
Their fingers touch, they look into each other’s eyes… and share a magical, romantic moment.
[At the next table]
Arthur and Merlin reach for the same slice of bread.
Their fingers touch and…
Arthur: Take your hand off my slice of bread, Merlin!
Merlin: I touched it first, the bread is mine!
They start fighting.

Merlin: So the plan has kind of changed
Leon: What?
Merlin, grabbing the biggest knife he can find, turning it this way and that to inspect it: I'm going to go kill myself
Leon: WHAT?

I feel like the fact that there is a canonical afterlife in Merlin is not talked about enough because obviously Uther came back and was unhappy with how Arthur was ruling so he must have been at least aware of what has happening? But that means that not only was Merlin waiting for Arthur but Arthur was waiting for Merlin as well. Would he have seen or felt Merlin’s pain? Because they’re tied so closely? (Two sides of the same coin) would he have seen the aftermath of his death? I don’t even want to imagine Arthur without Merlin for that long because he could barely survive three days in the show. Merlin and Arthur are the most doomed pair ever no arguments

my roman empire will forever be how dedicated arthur was to merlin. he was merlin's true ride or die. because sure merlin was the same way but merlin had insider knowledge and a destiny that arthur didn't have. arthur was just THAT obsessed with merlin for who he was

"merlin is my servant, he has my absolute trust. if you have a problem with him, you come to me. do you understand?" - quite literally translates to "keep my husband's name out of your mouth" and i am obsessed with it

Gwaine: Let's play spin the bottle, but only Merlin spins and kisses whoever it points to.
Merlin: I don't think that's...
Lancelot: Let's do it!
Freya: Yes!
Gwen: I want to play too.
Elyan: Just spin the bottle already, Merlin.
Merlin: But...
Arthur: Spin. the. damn. bottle.

Arthur: Hey, Merlin, what are you doing?
Merlin: Looking at the stars.
Arthur: But it’s daytime!
Merlin: And what do you think the sun is, you idiot?
They end up throwing punches at each other.
