Mickey 17 was sooooo good. I really liked Mickey 18's view of 17 especially. the concept of seeing a representation of yourself outside of you and being so disgusted by yourself that you shout at it and belittle it... feeling like you're having a constant mirror held to the most pathetic, snivelling parts of you. hating that version of yourself and wanting it dead and wanting it gone, but then seeing your partner still love that version of you, too. and how could you want to kill something that your partner loves?

everyone has been saying nasha was the only person to not ask mickey what it was like to die, but no one is making the connection that she didn’t have to ask bc she already knew. on presumably 3 or 4 occasions, nasha held him as he died an agonizing, horrid death. she was the only person who even thought to give him comfort in those moments. she’d never ask him how it felt, she knows.

the fact that sex played such a huge role in Mickey 17 isn't just a fun hot little addition to a good movie about antifascism - it's intrinsic.

They want your sexuality repressed unless you're procreating the "right kind" of babies.

Nasha wants Mickey to be able to grow old with her so that she can suck him off for the rest of her god damned life. Nasha wants to know the name of every sexual position so intimately that her sopping wet boyfriend and her can use the names as a secret code in public. Nasha wants to have sex to feel ALIVE and full of joy. Nasha is going to break federal law to have a threesome with her boyfriend and his clone and she's gonna be high as a fucking kite when she does it. maomao is my favorite "not like other girls" style protagonist bc for one shes a girls girl through and through. to the bone. and two she's just a weird little freak. absolute lunatic. they have the whole "omg she's actually beautiful and everyone falls for her when she's all made up" trope but the punchline is that she does not fucking want to look like that. she actively puts dirt on her face every day bc she does not want to be perceived as attractive (mostly out of fear of being used for sex work though at the same time she has the utmost respect for women who do sex work like she grew up in a brothel those are her sisters). she's Sherlock level smart and solves every mystery so fast but goes "well thats none of my business. anyway back to testing poisons on myself" she has the 2nd most powerful guy in the nation head over heels in love with her and is like "man this guy is weird around me what's his deal. I guess he's fine though because he gives me rare medicines and has no dick" fucking ICON i love her. also she once slapped someone so hard they fell on the floor. 10/10
