I love the idea of Atsushi being the one sent to the mafia, because I actually thinks it opens the door for many interesting plot lines. Like—picture him getting properly paired with Akutagawa and then becoming the "new double black" (I think someone—maybe Dazai—refers to them like that at some point). I mean—sure, we have seen them working together multiple times now, but it would be so cool to see them actually working for the same side. I bet Akutagawa would still swear to kill. Atsushi eventually, knowing damn well that he can't.

Also, I wanna point out that the characters that have influenced Atsushi's development have either been current members or ex member of the mafia. Even though he has come to care deeply for everyone in the agency, I think that it's pretty obvious that Dazai and Kyoka are the ones that he has learned the most about himself with. Plus, like it or not, Akutagawa has also pointed out his weaknesses and actually helped him getting through them. So, all in all, I think they spending some time in the mafia might actually be productive for him?

And I also think it'll be interesting to see him interact with other mafia members like Chuuya or Mori.

Dazai's just like "and remember to make sure he eats properly. Because he's, no offence Atsushi, terrible at taking care of himself. And if he has any problems with the tiger than-"

Chuuya rolls his eyes "yeah I know! I'll call you, I know. I've got him, I've got his snacks and all that packed away."

He gets it already, they've been doing this for an hour.

Dazai is actually this concerned and he's using this to also embarrass Atsushi and Chuuya knows this.

Atsushi is both extremely touched and extremely embarrassed.

I know that most people think Dazai is gonna end up rejoining, but I actually think it would be far more interesting to see Atsushi join the Port Mafia instead.

Atsushi is the same age Dazai was when Dazai left the Port Mafia...would be something if they continued the exchange thing and the age Dazai left is now the age Atsushi joins.
