Reader Review: The Immortalists - Chloe Benjamin
Reader Review for 'The Immortalists' by Chloe Benjamin is up on the blog! #bookreview #review #book #reader #booklife #bibliophile #bookworm
The Immortalists: ★★★★
This book is one that had been on my ‘to be read’ list for quite some time so, upon finally seeing the novel in my local book warehouse, I was excited to get my hands on a copy and get ready it as soon as possible. From just the blurb of the book, it’s evident that the narrative is focused around an interesting, complex, and yet original premise that catches the attention…

In this week's Book Blogger Hop, I answer the question 'You have won a $100.00 gift card. Do you spend it on a rare collector's edition, or buy several newly-published books?' What about you? #bookblog #bookblogger #bookdiscussion
You have just won a $100.00 Visa gift card. Will you spend the entire amount on a rare collector’s edition you have always wanted, or buy several newly-published books? Explain your choice.
‘Book Blogger Hop’ is hosted by CoffeeAddictedWriter.
This week seems to have gone incredibly fast. It feels like I was only posted the last week’s BBH answer the other day, but I’ve somewhat been getting…

Reader Review: Am I Normal Yet? - Holly Bourne
Reader Review for 'Am I Normal Yet?' by-Holly Bourne is up on the blog! #bookreview #review #book #reader #booklife #bibliophile #bookworm
Am I Normal Yet?: ★★★★★
The title of this book is the main thing that first caught my attention due to the fact that it’s such a common and yet misinterpreted phase. My mind instantly went to the thought of ‘there’s no normal’, and I was quick to judge the book before actually getting more information about its plot and premise. However, after looking into the rough narrative of the book, I felt…

Book Blogger Hop: June 8th | Most Read Author
In this week's 'Book Blogger Hop', I answer the question 'What author have you read the most in the past two years?' Let me know your own answers! #bookblog #bookish #reading #bookreviewer
What author have you read the most in the past two years?
‘Book Blogger Hop’ is hosted by CoffeeAddictedWriter.
Whilst this is an excellent question, I have no clue where to even begin. Throughout the past two years, I’ve really been able to get back into my reading after having graduated college and it’s definitely become an element of my self-care as I fell into a pretty dark place.…

Reader Review: The Miseducation Of Cameron Post - Emily M. Danford
Review for 'The Miseducation Of Cameron Post' by Emily M. Danford is up on the blog! #bookreview #review #book #reader #booklife #bibliophile #bookworm
The Miseducation Of Cameron Post: ★★★★
I was completely taken off guard by this book. I was really skirting around this book just due to the fact that the look of it didn’t grab my attention. I don’t know why I thought the book wouldn’t be suited to me, but, whenever I found myself in a bookshop with the novel sitting on the shelf in front of me, I’d turn away. However, this changed when I…

Book Blogger Hop: June 1st | The Blogger
In this week's 'Book Blogger Hop', I answer the question: 'What do you think your blog says about you?' Let me know what you think! #bookish #booktalk #bookblog
What do you think your blog says about you?
‘Book Blogger Hop’ is hosted by CoffeeAddictedWriter.
Good things, I would hope. Haha, bad joke – sorry. Wow, okay, this is somewhat of an odd question because I’ve also been considering it a lot lately in terms of what I want my blog to be focused around and what type of messages I want to get out there. This blog is still very new, I’m still getting…

May 2018 Monthly Wrap-Up
May 2018 Monthly Wrap-Up - let me know what you've been up to this month too! What have you been reading? #books #monthlyreview #monthlywrapup #bookblog #blogger
Jeez, can you believe that we’re half-way through the year already? I start every wrap-up with seemingly reflecting on how fast life is passing, but it’s really going by too quick. In some aspects, that’s a good thing I suppose, though it also somewhat sucks as things tend to get a bit hectic around here. The blog lacked this month, and for that I apologise, though let’s see what’s been…

Author Interview & Giveaway: James Wallace Birch
Author Interview & Giveaway: James Wallace Birch! Check it out! :) #authorinterview #bookish #bookblog #bookgiveaway #promotion #ebookgiveaway
I recently posted a review for ‘Discontents: The Disappearance Of A Young Radical‘ by James Wallace Birch(which you can find here) and, in having the chance to review the novel, I’ve also gained the pleasure of conducting an author interview with him. Along with working with James to bring this interview to light and really explore the book, the characters, and his writing process, we’ve paired…

The Cruel Prince [#1]: ★★★★★
Lately, it seems that this book has been all the rage – I’ve been spotting it featured on recommended lists across an array of different literature sites and book blogs and I’ve seen the mass of positive reviews pour in. As more and more people continuously provided good feedback on the first installation of this new series, I knew that I had to grab the book when I…

Do you remember the first book you read by yourself?
‘Book Blogger Hop’ is hosted by CoffeeAddictedWriter.
Due to my previous introductions to this weekly question meme, I feel like I always need to start off with some weird kind of event that’s cropped up in my life. However, apart from picking out my new puppy (he’s so tiny!), not much has actually been happening. Far Cry 5 has been kicking my ass, that’s for sure. Anyway, enough with that, let’s get on with the question. It’s a pretty tough one this week (also, check the end of the post for a photo of my new pup, I like showing him off).
I think that the first book that I read solely by myself was probably one of the ‘Winnie The Pooh‘ books due to the fact that I was pretty much raised on them. Otherwise, I would say it’d probably be one of Roald Dahl’s books. I used to have the entire box set collection and could read them over and over, and that’s one of my earliest memories when it comes to my love for reading overall.
I wish I could remember the first book that I read by myself because clearly, it was good enough to spiral me into being a bibliophile. However, I’ve been reading for so long that it’s pretty much impossible to pinpoint the very first book I read by myself. It was probably a book I read with my family and then got to the point where I was able to read it independently? No clue.
Either that or my memory is just that bad. Though, I’d be surprised if anybody would really be able to remember the first book that they read. Even if you’re not that much of a reader, I think it’s the usual to have to read during those first years of our educations. They’re all about those independent reading and writing skills. Not that I’m against that, at all, I think it was one of my favourite parts of my earlier years of education. I started school a lot later than people usually do in the UK due to the fact that my family moved to England from South Africa, and in South Africa you only start school at 6/7, so, by the time I enrolled in England, everybody had already had a head start and had their own little groups. I was somewhat of the kid that found themselves in the library whenever I could. I think that’s where my introduction to Roald Dahl’s works came from, and I just fell in love with his writing and his stories that I had to have them all, of course.
If I could remember, I’m sure my answer would be a hell of a lot more interesting, but I really can’t recall it. I’m just going to go with it was either something Winnie The Pooh or something by Roald Dahl.
Damn, my answer this week is boring! Sorry, I apologise for my memory being crap.
To make up for it, meet Arlo. He looks huge in these photos, but he’s tiny. He’s only 3 weeks in the pictures (he’s just turned 4 weeks now) and whenever he tried to walk his legs kept sliding out from under him. We had to do a 6 hour-round road trip to go and pick him out of the litter, but as soon as I saw him, I was instantly drawn to him. I knew that he was the one for me, especially because, as soon as we put him back with the rest of the litter and his mom, he started whining, so I already know he’s going to be a menace. I want him so badly to be with me right now, but he has to be with his mom for three more weeks. Then it’s another 6-hour road trip to go bring him home! Here some photos my mom got of me holding him. He has my entire heart.
He looks so grumpy.
Anyway, what about you? Can you remember the very first book that you read by yourself, or are you just as bad at remembering that as I am? If so, what was it?
Thanks for reading my answer to this week’s ‘Book Blogger Hop‘ and I’ll write you later.

(Requested) Reader Review for 'Discontents: The Disappearance Of A Young Radical' by James Wallace Birch is up on the blog! #bookreview #review #book #reader #booklife #bibliophile #bookworm
Discontents: The Disappearance Of A Young Radical: ★★★
As soon as I received an email from author James Wallace Birch, I knew that his book was one that was going to capture my attention. He made the story sound interesting and captivating from the get-go without giving away the details of the plot or the characters themselves, and so I knew the read would be one that I wanted to experience for…

Book Blogger Hop: May 18th | Adapatation Regrets

What were your worst movies based off of books?
‘Book Blogger Hop’ is hosted by CoffeeAddictedWriter.
Ah, my time to shine. The bibliophile who’s a graduated film student.
Now, as an avid reader with an extended diploma in Creative Media Production, you would think I’d have a variety of good answers to this question. However, I do not. I also think that may be due to the fact that this day has…

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before Series: ★★★★   To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before [#1]: ★★★★ P.S. I Still Love You [#2]: ★★★★ Always And Forever, Lara Jean [#3]: ★★★★

Reader Review: Always And Forever, Lara Jean - Jenny Han
Book Review for 'Always And Forever, Lara Jean' by Jenny Han is up on the blog! #bookreview #review #book #reader #booklife #bibliophile #bookworm
Always And Forever, Lara Jean: ★★★★
I knew that I was going to read this book after finishing off the previous two in the series and reviewing them in a fairly good light. Therefore, it only made sense for me to grab a hold of a copy of the last book and give it a give it the read that I think it deserved, even if I still maintain that the genre and storyline isn’t the type of thing that I…

The Importance Of Writing For Yourself, Even Though It's Hard
Check out my latest blog post which is all about the act of being a writer: 'The Importance Of Writing For Yourself, Even Though It's Hard' #writing #writers #thoughts #discussion #authors #advice #bookish
Any writer – no matter how big or small, published or unpublished – is going to tell you that they either love writing or they hate it. Hell, most of them are probably going to have a love-hate relationship with the skill itself and, in turn, this has bred the stereotypical tropes that society associates with writers themselves.

Reader Review: Queen Of Corona - Ro Esterhazy
(Requested) Book Review for 'Queen Of Corona' by Ro Esterhazy is up on the blog! #bookreview #review #book #reader #booklife #bibliophile #bookworm
Queen Of Corona: ★★★★
I was emailed a while ago by Ro Esterhazy asking if I would be interested in completing a review of her book Queen Of Corona’. Thinking that the premise of the novel sounded interesting and wanting to expand my own reading preferences to explore more new authors, I happily accepted her request and added her book to my ‘to be read’ list.
