I have this headcanon where wings will outgrow baby furies for a couple weeks until the rest of their bodies catches up to them. They're pretty clumsy during this period of time, gotta get used to the weight of their new extensions😋.

My best guess is in this day and age... Especially after the pandemic, when a lot of high quality stuff went straight to streaming, and most of Disney's expansion of content being TV shows marketed to kids only, that weren't touted as direct sequels (some even stomping on the lore like "lion king meets avengers" The Lion Guard or "ok but lets add ALL the whacky magical nonsense" Tangled the Series, and I like parts of the latter)... People, especially the newer gen, aren't that used to the 90s-00s straight-to-DVD type movie sequels, not anymore. This kind of stuff, presented the way it is, HAS been missing for some time.

Hot take, but I think people are overreacting to the "second" Megamind movie being bad. Yes, I understand people have been begging for a proper Megamind sequel for over a decade, and thus when anticipations aren't met, they're disappointed. I get that. People wanted a sincere and efforted return to the franchise. However, this isn't some shocker bad movie. There is no shock to this. It's par for the course. This is the direct-to-video VHS equivalent of the modern age. It's the same reason I was never surprised a Mulan 2 or Beauty and the Beast sequel was bad. They're cheap footnotes that were meant to be cheap footnotes. This was always designed to be like a backdoor pilot to a crappy stream-only TV show. "Oh my goshhhh what the heckkkk why is it so baaaad?" We already know why it's bad. Call me when we get a theatrical release to a long-awaited property.

personally i think there should have been at least one episode where sokka collects aang and zuko and is like, “looks like we’re running low on supplies.  time for a GUYS-ONLY field trip.  three days of hunting and fishing and polishing our swords.  y’know, manly warrior stuff.  (aang, sotto voce: actually sokka i’m a vegetarian as you know–)  you girls have fun sitting around braiding your hair and talking about your crushes” and then the entire episode is just zuko and sokka lying around by a river, plucking blades of grass and staring up at the stars confiding in each other their deepest feelings and most secret insecurities while aang braids flower crowns, and whenever the screen cuts back to katara and toph and suki, they’re fighting and screaming and hacking away at river pirates and evil spirits and legions of assassins and hired mercenaries with swords.  you know, as girls do.

and when the boys finally drag themselves back to camp (they stayed up way too late discussing what true leadership really means and whether or not power always corrupts)  they find suki and toph and katara lounging around with black eyes and fresh bruises and bloodstained weapons and sokka shrieks, “what were you guys DOING while we were gone???”  and karata just shugs innocently and says in her sweetest voice, “oh, you know.  just girly things”
