Have you ever noticed how scents can put you in a time-space warp? . It can be quite overpowering. . On the way home from fetching my daughter at school, she asked to stop to play in the park. . And as I watched her and her bff on the monkey-bars, I was teleported back to my own childhood carefree springs. . The scent? . Lilacs in full bloom! . The scent of lilacs reminds me of my brother climbing the neighbours fence (where they grew). . It is also a strong reminder of my Mom, who loves lilacs. . My folks sold my childhood home last summer, and I wonder: has my mom got to smell the lilacs in bloom this season? . I marvel at God‘s great joy in watching His creation burst forth in colour and fragrence! . And take peace in knowing He watches over my Mom even while I am unable to just drop by. . I‘m not convinced that I am shy. . But I am often socially awkward. . And that often causes me grief. . Take last weekend. If you will, my grand entrance to international public speaking. . A big honour. . Bringing with it smart clothing (I‘m a tee shirt and jeans gal) which made me a wee but self conscious. . And a message which dug deep into challenges I‘ve overcome. True, overcome. And yet a close call when it comes to vulnerability and intimacy. . Andrea. Raw, not naked. . But I felt bare. . And the biggest surprise? . The week AFTER. . The rising tension in my stomach is unreal. . Over the weekend I will see people from the event likely and it makes me angsty. . It‘s time to take my thoughts captive. Again. Renew my mind. . Why? .
