remus lupin chronic pain haver. remus lupin cane user. remus lupin sometime wheelchair user. remus lupin with arthritis, perhaps?? remus lupin with EDS, perhaps?? either way, always, DISABLED REMUS LUPIN.
peter decorated remus’ first cane (a kinda crappy metal one) with stickers and doodles, which made remus smile every time he saw them. the boys commissioned a lovely handmade wooden one for remus for his birthday a few years after. sirius learnt woodworking solely to be able to repair/make canes for remus. james bought him some good quality finger splints because of his arthritis, and continues to replace them as needed, or buy him pretty ones for events. the boys have supported and always will support remus!!!

Knight (June 23rd)
Word count: 910
@wolfstarmicrofic
It must say something about how Sirius has spent the last few months that regularly talking and eating with the enchanted knight armour in one of Hogwarts’ dark corridors is not even the saddest thing he’s been doing.
Sirius doesn’t even have mind space to think about how sad it is at all. Most of his mental power is spent thinking about ways to fix the worst thing he’s ever done, which turns out to be rather time and mind consuming.
Who would’ve known.
“Not this foolery again,” says the knight instead of ‘Hello.’ Sirius isn’t sure how an enchanted object can sound so disappointed but Orion’s tone can even give Walburga a run for her money.
Yes, he named the armour after his father. He doesn’t have the time or mental capacity to dissect that, either.
“I know me eating dinner with you is the most fun you’re had in however long you’ve been a sentient armour, so you can can it.” Sirius sits cross-legged on the floor, his back leaning against the hard and always suspiciously damp cobblestone wall. He starts eating one of the many sandwiches he got from the kitchens.
He’s made friends with the kitchen house elves, as well. Sirius has never made this many friends in such a short time. He also doesn’t think he’s lost this many friends in such a short time, either, so maybe everything cancels out.
“I can can it?” Orion scoffs. “Whatever does that mean?”
“It means to stop talking,” Sirius says, mouth full. “We can have a pleasant conversation if you want to, Orion, but no condescension or disdain, please.”
Sirius isn’t sure how a metal armour is able to frown, but Orion does. “That is not my name. My name is Sir–”
“Yeah, yeah,” Sirius says, opening a purple juice box. Who knew the kitchens had muggle juice boxes?
Orion’s frown deepens. “May I ask you a question?”
Sirius nods, taking a sip. “Whatever you want, babe.”
“Why are you here?”
Sirius continues drinking for a little while. Why is he here? He thinks for a moment, then with surprising honesty he says, “Because I’m lonely.”
Orion, ever the empath, snorts. “Lonely? Surely you can find better ways to spend your time, find better company to spend your time with.”
In for a penny and all, Sirius says, “I don’t really deserve better company. No offense, Orion.”
“That is not my name. Who is that?”
“It really does say something about the kind of friend James is that I’m the one that has to avoid his company after what I’ve done,” Sirius says, ignoring Orion’s remark. “I wouldn’t even look in my direction had I been James, after what I’ve done, and yet–” Sirius blinks quickly a couple of times. He will not cry all over his dinner.
“James is the kind of friend that you max out all your wonderful friend credit when you get, is what I want to say. And the fact that he still even talks to me after– he asks if I’m okay when we’re walking in between classes or he makes sure that I’m eating–” Sirius shakes his head. He can’t really talk anymore, so he takes a big bite of his sandwich and pretends that he’s not crying.
“Oh, the melodrama. Who is this James?” the armour asks. His tone is different, though, and after a few beats, he asks, “What have you done?”
Sirius smiles while crying. “I was cruel and unkind. Not intentionally. But I used something a friend told me in secret against them to, I don’t know, get the upper hand in a conversation? Pull a prank? I don’t know.”
Orion is quiet for a while. “That doesn’t sound too awful. It is an awful thing to do to a friend, but it surely isn’t the end of the world, is it?”
Sirius thinks about how Remus looked at him while he was explaining what had happened. How it would’ve been marginally less painful to give Remus a knife and tell him to carve Sirius’ rotten, rotten heart out as atonement. One of the things Sirius doesn't let himself think about much these days is Remus. Mostly because he’s a coward who cannot think about how much he hurt the person he loves like nothing else in this world, and how easy and vindictive it felt telling Snape how to get past the–
Sirius wipes his eyes. “Sure.” He thinks he’s met the ‘baring out his soul for the world to see’ quota of the day.
“Have you tried apologising?” Asks Orion.
Sirius snorts. He won’t even dignify that with a response. “Tell me, Orion, do you ever get tired of standing up all the time?”
“That is not my name,” Orion says, and it seems that any and all sympathy he felt for Sirius is now gone. He doesn’t say anything else.
Sirius drinks from his juice box and wipes his eyes again.
He has to make this better, and he knows that it will be for his own sake, which makes him all the worst kinds of selfish and horrible, but he has to make it better. And he will find a way.
He rests his head back against the scratchy wall. Later, he will find a way to make this better. Now, he’s going to close his eyes and try not to notice his lungs collapsing under the weight of everything on his chest.

Enchantment (June 22nd)
Word count: 585
@wolfstarmicrofic
Not to be dramatic or anything, but Sirius thinks that if he dies right this instant, he would die happy.
“I’d die happy if I died right now,” he says, taking a bite of his homemade chocolate cookie ice-cream sandwich. Life is great.
Remus’ eyes are a little wide as he snorts. “What the fuck, Sirius.”
“It’s a good thing.”
“Sure,” Remus says. He takes Sirius’ hand. “Let’s talk less about death while we’re on a date, love. It dampens the mood.”
“A date on the beach,” Sirius says, grinning. “With the prettiest person ever. In the summer. Is this what James would call a ‘picture perfect movie moment’?”
Remus grins. “Hell yes.”
“Summer was never fun for me,” Sirius says. It’s a little muffled because he’s eating but he doesn’t think he can say this with a clear voice, anyway. “I used to hate summers so much at home. But they’re great. I love them. What could be better than spending my summers with you, all sun-kissed and freckled? Also, shorts. You should always be wearing shorts, Remus, your legs are wonderful.”
“You’re making me blush, pretty boy,” Remus says, and it’s a little sarcastic but also a little sincere. He kisses Sirius’ cheek.
The air around them is cool and salty. The sun is setting so the sky is purple and yellow and orange. Sirius makes a grabby hand gesture at Remus. “Give me the camera. Let me take a photo of you and the beach sunset.”
“Merlin,” Remus swears gently, but hands Sirius the camera anyway. “You’re extra sentimental today.”
“It’s the stupid photogenic beach.”
“Can a beach be photogenic?”
Sirius nods.
Remus looks around for a little bit. “You know, normally I’d argue but this is a damn gorgeous beach.”
Sirius snaps the photo without warning Remus first. “And a damn gorgeous you.”
Remus looks at Sirius, exasperated and sweet at the same time. “You could’ve told me to smile.”
“Be cool. It’s a candid.”
Remus snorts. “Sure. Do you see that old lady?”
Sirius looks at where Remus is not-so-desecretly pointing. He sees an old lady with waist-length white hair and a pretty flower necklace around her neck. “She looks very cool.”
Remus nods. “Yeah. She’s our resident town witch.”
“Really?” Sirius asks, ecstatic. “I never knew you had magic friends before Hogwa–”
Remus shakes his head. “She’s not a witch witch.”
“What does that mean?”
Remus shrugs. “She’s not a witch like how Hogwarts has witches. But she gives out pretty crystals and promises to cast enchantments that get rid of your acne before your school dance.”
Sirius smiles. “Does it work?”
“I’d like to think it does. My mom used to get me this potion every month near the full moon that Miss Morgana said eased joint pain. It totally helped, even if only in my mind.”
“Miss Morgana has a witch’s name, if nothing else,” Sirius says, kissing Remus’ temple. He doesn’t like thinking of Remus alone during a full moon, ever.
“Yeah. I don’t think our magic is the only magic there is, for the record,” Remus says.
Sirius kisses Remus’ temple again because how could he not? “You’re extra sentimental today,” he parrots.
Remus smiles. “Damn photogenic beach.”
Sirius smiles right back. The photo in his hand has finished developing and it is the single most captivating thing he’s ever seen. What a wonderful life, Sirius thinks, deciding he won’t be happy to die right now, only because he’d much rather stay alive, with Remus.

james and sirius would find each other in every life time btw... as lovers, as friends, as brothers, as neighbors, twitter nemeses, business partners, ex situationship, as a matching pair of stuffed animals or a set of cufflinks... there is no universe where they haven't met and loved each other

Enemy (June 21st)
Word count: 826
@wolfstarmicrofic
“Why are we doing this, again?” Sirius asks, putting another book on top of his already comically large stack of books.
“Because it’s summer,” Remus answers like it’s obvious.
James nods. It’s fair to say that it’s obvious, he thinks.
“And because we’re bored,” Peter adds.
James nods again. Excellent arguments all around. He can’t complain.
“People do it all the time,” Remus says. “I remember the library back home organising one of these every couple of months and it was super fun. It is only for a day though, Sirius, so you might want to borrow less books.”
James can’t help but laugh at how offended Sirius looks. “I will finish all of these.”
James counts 17 books in Sirius’ stack. “You’re going to read 17 books in 24 hours?”
Sirius shakes his head. “I’m going to read 20 books. I left the last three for you to choose for me.”
“Sure,” says Remus, and James can tell he’s trying not to grin. Remus turns to James and Peter. “How many books are you guys going to read?”
James says, “Four,” and Peter says, “Fifteen,” at the same time.
“But not in a crazy way like Sirius,” Peter clarifies. “I mostly read comic books and I fly through them.”
“I’m reading cheesy romances like the ones I steal from Marlene,” James says. “They’re super sweet.”
“The ones with the running girl and shirtless man cover?” Sirius asks.
James nods. “I mean, sometimes the man is running. And sometimes there is a horse or a fountain or a spear. But that is a recurring theme.”
“I used to steal them from Marlene too,” Sirius says. “They are fun. I mostly have dragon books in my pile.”
“Those are fun, too!” James exclaims.
Sirius nods, and decides to put his book pile on the floor. He dramatically dusts off his hands and sits next to James. The four of them are now more-or-less sitting in a circle on the floor of James’ favorite library back home. They’re near the high fantasy shelves at the back so no one is really bothering them, and Madam Lindsey, the librarian, doesn’t mind either.
“What are you going to read, Re?” Sirius asks.
“There’s this sci-fi series that I’ve been meaning to get to forever,” Remus says. “It’s three books and there’s an enemies to lovers subplot which sounds so fun–”
Sirius blinks. “What does that mean?”
“Which part?”
“How can there be enemy lovers?”
Remus laughs, and it sounds a little surprised. “That’s not– I guess there could be a book about enemies that are also lovers at the same time– the one I’m reading is like, they were enemies but then they stopped and became lovers.”
“Like Lily and me before,” James says, then he blinks. “Like Regulus and me, too, now. Why is there a theme to my lovers? Am I predictable?”
Remus nods and Peter says, “Yes.”
Sirius pinches James’ shoulder. “You’re the worst. I’m telling Regulus you said Lily as an example before him.”
“No.”
“Actually, James, I think you and Regulus are more like, my best friend’s brother/my brother’s best friend,” Peter says, and Sirius actually gags.
“You guys are the worst,” Sirius repeats.
Remus rubs Sirius’ shoulders gently. “I think I prefer friends to lovers, anyway. Since you’re my friend to lover.”
James sees Sirius actually melt. He wants to fake gag just to rile Sirius up but he can’t bring himself to do it. His friends are way too sweet.
Sirius’ eyes are sparkly when he whispers something to Remus that only they can hear, their hands intertwined between them.
James claps his hands. “Okay. What are the rules?”
“Rules?” Peter asks.
“We have to make this exciting somehow,” James says.
“We stay up the entire time. No sleeping,” Sirius says.
“Starting when?” James asks.
Peter looks at his watch then back up at them, “Starting now. Until 8:23 pm tomorrow.”
“What if I need more books?” Sirius asks.
James snorts. “It’s a day, Sirius. I’m sure you’ll be fine with your 47 books.”
Sirius pinches James’ shoulder again. “I am so telling Regulus what you said. You remember he’s coming tomorrow, right?”
Of course James remembers. He has a countdown in his calendar and everything. “That’s tomorrow?”
Remus smiles as he kisses Sirius’ temple. “I’m sure it slipped your mind, James.”
James ignores them. He takes the book closest to him and opens it. Peter has also started reading next to him. James peers over his shoulder and decides to read this comic book after Peter is done with it because he really likes the art style.
Sirius and Remus are in their own bubble, talking and smiling. James thinks that friends to lovers might be his favorite subplot, too, but he won’t tell them that to avoid their heads getting too big. He settles down, thinking about Regulus, friends and enemies, and lovers. He smiles and starts to read.

disabled remus and reformed dickhead sirius.
sirius who has to LEARN to take care of remus, to not rush off, to not assume he can physically keep up. remus who uses a cane and sirius who at first is kind of embarrassed to be seen with him in public (because of his “never show weakness” upbringing), but who also immediately glares at anyone who looks funny at remus. sirius whose boundless energy both enchants and exhausts remus, who has to learn how to take care of his boyfriend when fatigue catches up with him. sirius who is forced to learn to be comfortable with the quiet (which is actually good for him). sirius who researches remus’ conditions (chronic fatigue, arthritis, problems that the doctors still can’t diagnose) to better learn how to help him. sirius who comes with remus to his appointments, or drops him off with a kiss, depending on how he feels.
remus who can sense sirius’ embarrassment, who snaps at him for it more than once. remus who softens when he finds sirius asleep as his laptop, fifty tabs open to different medical websites and forums. remus who can see how much his boyfriend is unlearning his own prejudice, and working to take care of him. remus who has never been taken care of so fiercely and purposefully, and who loves sirius for it.

Yall need to remember that no matter how popular a fic gets (even if it’s literally the most popular fic on ao3) it still goes against fandom etiquette to publicly hate on it or say that it’s bad. Those opinions belong in private conversations or in your private bookmarks, nowhere else. Fanfics are gifts that we aren’t entitled to, and we have to treat them as such.

Obscuro (April 3rd)
Word count: 511
@wolfstarmicrofic
“I drove all the way to our house before I realised that’s not where I wanted to go,” Remus says instead of ‘hello’, putting his keys on the designated tiny leaf-shaped plate near the Potters’ front door and the takeout on the kitchen counter. “I was in a trance the entire time, I think. So weird.”
“This is actually making me kind of annoyed,” Sirius says instead of ‘welcome back’, closing the thick, flimsy book he’s holding and putting it on the kitchen counter near the food. “I don’t even think that the people who wrote this know what they’re saying half the time.”
It occurs to Remus that they’re having two separate conversations. He kisses Sirius’ cheek.
“What’s your book about?” Remus asks, and then, “Why is it quiet in here?”
Sirius smiles. “Computers.”
“What?”
“That’s the answer to both your questions! This is James’ computer textbook, and it’s quiet because James, Albus and Lily are ‘binge watching’ a tv show, whatever that means.”
“It means they watch all of the episodes back to back,” Remus says, remembering Albus explaining it to him a few days ago. He picks up the textbook and flips through it. “Is there anything interesting in this?”
“It’s all interesting,” Sirius says. “And annoying. The authors really need to pick a damn lane and stick to it. I can't deal with the real-metephorical-real bullshit.”
Remus smiles and he sits down next to Sirius. “I feel like metaphors are the last thing I’d expect in a computer science textbook.”
“Right?” Sirius says, turning toward Remus, smiling. Sirius’ hair is out of his face in a pretty bun. Salt and pepper hair suits Sirius like it’s never suited anyone before, but maybe Remus is a little biased. “I’m going to say something, you’re going to tell me whether they’re being literal or not.”
“Who’s they?”
“Doesn’t matter,” Sirius says, waving Remus off. “Okay, there’s this thing called ‘cloud computing’. Real or not?”
“I don’t think it’s in the actual clouds, whatever it is, so not real.”
Sirius nods. “Great! Now, what if I say the internet is in the ocean, real or not?”
“Is the internet the thing that tells us the things when we ask it?”
“I think so,” Sirius says after thinking for a second.
“Okay. Then I say not real.”
“Except it is. The internet wires are on the ocean floors.”
Remus laughs despite himself. “What? Which ocean?”
“All of them,” Sirius says, also laughing. He gets up. “We should probably see what the kids are watching. Last time I watched something with them, I had to Obscuro everyone three different times.”
“You don’t say.”
“Everything is so graphic.” Sirius blinks. “I think we should babysit less. I’m feeling old.”
“We are kind of old, darling,” Remus says, and he laughs at how Sirius looks at him, unimpressed and trying not to smile. Remus continues, “Growing old is my favorite thing only because I get to do it with you.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Sirius says, smiling Remus’ favorite smile and kissing Remus’ temple. “Mine, too.”
