Been thinking about how Alphas have a Longass refractory period due to the knot and the biggus dickus and how that would be a PROBLEM in helping with heats. The solution I've come up is mad simple. Heat pheromones are baisically just Alpha mega-viagra. Like that pole ain't coming down tier. ONLY however, if the two persons are compatible. Idk that would just make it more interesting, and prevent medical Intervention using donor heat-slick (cursed). It would also make heat fuck-buddies difficult, since it's unlikely to just meet a good scent-match, fit together sexually, AND with the pheromones... It also kills that stupid trope where an Omega goes into heat and some stranger alpha just Cannot Help It (yuck).

The usual high school fight between girls, turned up even more vicious: hair pulling, scratching nails, knowing all the spots that’ll hurt like hell. Oh—and biting.

Sure, an alpha will probably overpower an omega in a 1v1 boxing match. No duh. But omegas will latch onto you and gouge your eyes out, rip the cartilage of your ears. Grab your head by your hair and bash it into the ground over and over and over again. Especially since they’re fast, and quick, and there is most certainly force behind agility. Besides, you think an omega would leave their alpha behind in a fight? They’re not diving for safety; they’re tag-teaming by ripping flesh from bone.

The concept of a stress heat pisses me off so much. What do you mean you lost a bunch of blood and now your body desperately wants to be preggo?? HOW IS THAT LOGICAL

So not beta related, but there is no way that an omegas body would be able to continue function under a massive amount of stress.

Let's take the average female human body. It's kind of a delicate ecosystem. If they are too stressed it can cause hormones to go wako and cause issues. Nevermind if their attempting to get pregnant. Female animals will be unable to get pregnant if the conditions aren't right, or she'll just absorb the fetuses.

An Omega is all this times 15. Too stress about an exam? BOOM. Skipped over heat that month. Alphas are deciding to be shitty? BOOM. body absorbs the fetus.

Or even better. When a society of alphas are causing omegas to stress it triggers a mass biological change and they stop having alpha kids. You'll know it's reaaaaaaaallly bad if the betas stop having alphas too.

These are a bunch of half baked thoughts after seeing a bunch of fics where alphas are treating omegas badly with no consequences. There is no way that there would be 0 consequences. Mother nature herself would show up to teach them a lesson. Might fix up later.

Heat is Sexy

Another common myth, more perpetuated by alphas, is that heat is something that makes an omega submissive and open to sex 24/7. It's a trope often seen in books and movies. In reality, heats are often accompanied by a number of other undesirable symptoms, sometimes mood swings or general physical pain, in addition to a heightened libido. Slick gets everywhere, and undesirable fluids along with them. Omegas in heat may often actually prefer to have gentle sex, as rough sex may be too painful for them. Many may not want sex at all, as prefer to take care of themselves since for a few, sex can be physically painful, and dick won't make it any better. Many omegas are not going into heat looking like pornstars, and may actually more resemble a basement goblin.

Heat = Consent

Due to the patriarchal nature of many places, heat may be misconstrued as consent. Many omegas don’t actually want to have sex during heat, and prefer to ride it out alone.

Omegas need Alphas for their Heats

There’s this concept that omegas can only benefit from an alpha spending time with them during their heats, but that isn’t true. Sexual activity of any kind, regardless of the partner’s gender, can benefit an omega in heat and help them through it.

Omegas like Big Knots

Most omegas don’t like big knots. It’s a sudden expansion of something that, if too big, can make sex painful. Many omegas prefer a knot of average size.

Pregnancy Doesn’t Occur Unless You Knot

While losing one’s virginity is important, some alphas believe that so long as they don’t knot inside of an omega, the omega won’t get pregnant. This is untrue, as fertilization can occur whether or not a knot latches.

Scents 102

Addition to this post. It's about how in my version of the omegaverse, scents form on kids!

Nerd shit incoming!

I am aware this is overwhelming, so we'll go from birth to presentation chronologically!!!

Baby: Newborn babies have a distinct smell, even in our world. In my Omegaverse, they smell like Newborn Baby. It escapes any reading.

0-6 Weeks: In this time, the baby does not throw its own scent, it mostly smells precisely like their birth parent. Or, more accurately, whoever does the majority of the care work. This mimicry is ESSENTIAL for development.

6 weeks-3 years: Baby starts to have something approaching their Own Opinions. This means they form a Base scent! The rest is still a chaotic mish-mash of anyone that takes care of them.

3-Whenever they happen to present: The parent influence is still heavy, but the yellow/blue as well as the Base scent are now fully their own! (Refrence for what each colour means is in 101)

Another important factor here is outside influence. Teachers, kindergarden teachers, babysitters, non-pack friends, adults or peers whom the child spends lots of time with also have an influence!

Lastly- Once the child presents, or in some sub-gender cases begins that process (takes years), the chaotic mush of influences melts into three categories, which are explained in 101.

Scents 101

As mentioned, this is long, and quite complicated. This idea was one of those you get right before falling asleep and then you scribble it down manically before passing out. After a good night's sleep, I worked out wtf i meant and wrote it down properly. I've been brainrotting about scent communication for a hot minute, so finally figuring out how i want it to happen is Neat!!! Anyways, if you wanna use this PLEASE DO!! and tag me in any products i wanna see❤️

Nerd fun under break...

Okay, first, there's three layers to any given basic, non-mated, non pack person. I will first explain those layers.

Firstly, you can observe here thar the squares are of diffrent sizes. It's simple, alphas "throw" more scent (meaning their pheromones are stronger/projected outwards more). This is to attract a mate! Betas project the "normal" amount, they dont really rely on scent as much (theirs is more volatile). Omegas throw less, simply to garner less attention, and therefore be safer. Fem! Omegas are on average pretty dainty, so they hide even more, it's nearly Impossible for a stranger to know whether someone is fem!O or fem!B.

Next, what the layers mean:

-Yellow layer: The top layer, easiest to make out. Basic info about health, Sex, wellbeing, Mated (yes/no)

Blue layer: Baisically markers on who their parents/birth pack were, who raised them etc. this layer will be explained more in depth later!

Red layer: More volatile compounds, such as emotions and "active" communication, like someone purposefully souring their scent as a threat, show affection, etc. The volatility means this is harderst to read from a stranger, therefore it's at the bottom.

Omega-Spesific scent: As a measure of self defense, Omegas can throw a pepperspray-like pheromone compound which causes distress, lethargy, fear, nausea and lack of motivation in its victims. It is temporary. It gets thrown on the upper and base layer, unless the Omega has any conditions that cause the constant production of the compound.

How does a new pack form?

A Beta is neccesary for pack forming, only their scent is volatile enough even when grown. They act like sort of a "crucible", cooking up the new Pack scent by taking the upper two layers of the others and mixing them with their own (green here). The base is too volatile to mix well in packs. Once the Beta has a fully mixed pack scent, they may "give it back" to the other pack members via scenting, or gifting clothes, or whatever they are into.

Hey, it looks as if the beta looses their own scent in that process?

Yup, they do. Well, it mixes with their friends, causing it to shift into a pack scent. Whether they have a pack or not, Beta scents shift around all the time, as they dont expirience a "cementing" of their scent Profile as part of Presentation (more on that later).

Here's a visual of just this phenomenon! While A/Os keep part of their historical scent, Betas do not. None of these have mates, though...

What about mates?

As we've learned, (unmated) Omegas throw less scent that alphas. To be considered "mated", There must be enough mixing of ALL scent layers to be noticeable. As we've just learned, Neither As nor Os actually Change their scent after presenting. Meaning that a mating must be kept up near CONSTANTLY. Be it with close proximity, biting, sex, cuddles, emotional closeness. It has to be maintained. SAME GOES for Pack-structures. Pack scent will fade if not kept up (this is a Beta task, obviously)

Here's what a scent profile for a Mated Person would look like, if they had NO pack.

Betas, again, don't keep their historical scent. Once mated, An Alpha will throw less, an Omega will throw more. Because the A doesn't need to show off anymore, and the 'Taken' scent is safer for an O, and they may need it to bond with their kids.

Beta base scent is quite strong (it's all they get individually afterall, it's easier to read out), so the mated bit doesnt touch it.

What if they are mated AND in a pack??
