I was wrong. I do have a type and it’s INFJ 😂
Which type of people do you like?
I can’t speak for other INTPs, but I don’t think there is a specific type of people I like that I can pin down, but if we click then we click.
I would say that anyone that I can have a deep and interesting conversation with is my favorite person in the moment. I remember there was a girl I only ever talked to once. We talked for 2 hours, exchanged contact, and never spoke to each other again. From time to time, I think of her and only remember how fun it was to talk to her. I’m sure we could’ve been best friends had I not been atrocious at keeping in contact.
Anyone whose first instinct is to try small talk with me has already made a bad first impression. I would much rather not have them approach me again if that’s what they plan to do each time they see me. People who immediately have a thought provoking question or start with a subject of interest has automatically made a fantastic first impression.
People who will indulge me on my current hyper fixation is also high on my list of favorite people.
Common interests are a must with no exceptions.
That’s all I got off the top of my head. I can’t say this is true for other INTPs, but at least this is my experience.

INTP Story Time #37
INTP: I should’ve known you were an INFJ
INFJ Platonic SO: Really? Why?
INTP: Cause three of my best friends took the test and got INFJ, and the more that I think about it, the more obvious it should’ve been that you’re an INFJ
INFJ: So you do have a type *laughs knowing I’m AroAce*
INTP: Apparently, and this reminds me of a quote, “Once is happenstance, twice is a coincidence, three times is a pattern.”
INFJ proceeds to laugh at me for the next 30 minutes

INTP Story Time #36
Brother: Hey, this is an actual question. Are you Autistic?
INTP: Well damn, where did this come from? What did I do?
Brother: I’m being serious. You do this thing where you get up and start bouncing around whenever you watch a really funny video, you constantly make weird noises, you flap your hands when you’re too excited, and you’re socially awkward to the point where it’s painful to watch.
INTP: That doesn’t mean I’m autistic!
*A Few Years Later*
INTP: *Watching another relatable Autism TikTok* Why am I literally a walking Autism Diagnosis?!

How do you relax yourself before something stressful?
Stress management is different for each person. What I do is indulge in my current interests whether it’s video games, TikTok’s, fanfiction, or other. I seek out that dopamine boost to keep my mind off of the thing causing me stress. I also found that seeking comfort from a person you trust is also very therapeutic. I often hug my mom when I feel overwhelmed and it’s always a very nice way to decompress and even cry if it’s all too much (I’m 24, there’s no shame regardless of age to want comfort). I also squeeze my cat cause he’s soft and it’s funny to hear him scream but refuse to run away from me.
I have to note that I am in a very healthy mental state for a few years now, so I know that stress management used to be very difficult for me. You’ll need to actually let yourself relax for anything I just said to work, so it really depends on your mental state. I have adopted the mentality of “I’ll worry about that later” for anything stressful that I can’t take care of in the moment.

Which type of problems do you faced as a student?
I had a lot of problems as a student, but like most INTPs, I was academically inclined. The problems stemmed from my depression, social anxiety, testing anxiety, crippling fear of failure, and undiagnosed autism and adhd.
One particular problem that stands out to me right now is the group projects. I was the smart kid that was left with all the work because I couldn’t communicate, I wanted everything to be perfect, and everyone was ‘too slow’. I was fine with that until the teacher decided that the lowest preforming student would be the grade all of the team would get. I was stuck with the guy who refused to even copy my answers. That was one of the most stressful days of my life. I eventually convinced the teacher to kick him out of the group cause I was the teacher’s pet for most of my high school days.
Group projects always brought out the worst in me tbh

Strange Questions
I tend to ask the strangest of questions at random times as soon as the urge strikes me. It ranges from things that can happen in real life to theoretical scenarios.
I once asked my friend what she would do if someone was terrified of her because of a bad first impression. She immediately asked if this was about a boy in my class which completely caught me off guard. It was just a random question with absolutely no relation to my life. Plus why would anyone be afraid of me? I’m super mellow and barely talk to anyone.
The only one that’s completely used to me and my weird questions is my little sister. She just answers them and never really questions where they came from.
These sorts of questions are just to satisfy my curiosity as to how different people react to the same situation. It’s fascinating to compare and contrast how people think.

Answers
You could ask me anything and I would answer honestly and to the best of my ability. However, I will avoid certain topics or scratch the surface of the truth in order to spare the feelings of the person who asked me about it. For example, when my parents ask me about my opinion on religion, I simply state that I don’t understand it. Technically, I will be telling the truth, and I spare their feelings by not confessing that I in fact am simply indifferent on whether or not I stay in church.
I don’t like lying, but I also don’t like hurting people’s feelings. Sometimes I hurt them by accident because I hadn’t had time to think through my answers.
