Also got my hands on Orly the Tortle bard from #criticalrole . He was the fan creation NPC and literally every option I chose so I was super excited when he was introduced into the show. He is very close to Kiri for being my favorite NPC. Specially growing up with a stutter.

Got my hands on a Kiri mini from steamfordged games! Was so happy I got this because I missed buying one myself. Probably one of the best NPCs in #criticalrole.

Bright and Vivid - Running adventures in the Feywild
Tumblr media
Hullo, Gentle Readers. This week’s Question from a Denizen came to us Anonymously. My anonymous friend asks, “Do you imagine the Feywild as an 80s acid trip?”
In short, I do not. I can see why there might be a temptation to treat the Feywild as something out of The Beatles’ Yellow Submarine movie, but that’s not how I envision it, personally.
My feelings about the Feywild come more from classical sources like Maxfield Parrish and Howard Pyle, as well as more modern artists like Tony DiTerlizzi. I imagine it as a place incredibly vibrant with life. In my own campaign, it is a brighter reflection of the mortal world. Cities of younger races like humans don’t exist in it, but some ancient cities founded by Dragonborn, Eladrin, and the mysterious Old Ones have counterparts in the Feywild.
I imagine it as a place of fanciful animals and plants, as well as the homeland of the various kinds of fey. Hags are a real problem there, haunting the swamps, empty hills, and lonely coastlines. Treants roam deep forests where no axe has ever fallen. Gentle glades might be the domicile of dryads, nymphs, sprites, pixies, or many other creatures. Tritons, merfolk, and aquatic elves are common in the seas, and the Feydark below the lands is full of creatures like Myconids. It’s also the original homeland, in my campaign at least, of eladrin, elves, drow, and gnomes. Most eladrin remain in the Feywild at most times, while elves and drow have largely left to live in the mortal world. Gnomes dwell in both, feeling equally at home in either world.
I also make it a bit like a faerie tale. Time flows differently there. To someone in a hurry to get somewhere, every day might feel like weeks, while to someone relaxing and enjoying themselves, years might slip by in a flash. The same tends to be true of the Shadowfell in my campaign; time flows strangely there. I wanted this strange time dilation effect due to legends like Rip van Winkle. I use it as a plot element, to make traveling there unpredictable and dangerous. If you’re facing against a specific enemy, and you enter the Feywild, there’s no way to predict if time will pass in the same way when you return, speed up, or slow down. You might come out to find your enemy’s plots have all advanced by months, while only a day or two has passed for you. In my current campaign, my players have bargained with an Archfey to make sure no time passes in the mortal world while weeks have gone by for them in the Feywild.
I try to be very colorful and descriptive when running sessions in the Feywild. Calling up exotic and incongruous smells, textures, and sounds can make the place feel otherworldly. Colors are more vivid, tastes brighter, and everything just feels…more. The same can be true of emotions, and I try to make the inhabitants and long-term visitors to the Feywild seem more extreme, alien, and difficult to read.
I hope this helps give an idea of how I visualize and run the Feywild. If you have your own Feywild ideas, let us all know!

I'm currently painting a mini that I am super excited about so I am taking my time to make sure it looks amazing. (Or as amazing as I can make it.) So in the meantime here is a better image of my Kenku Warlock Mini, some rainbow bagels and lattes from NY, a mini of a Skeleton King on a throne I painted a few months back and my judgmental husky.

More cryptids! The ningen (a humanoid-ish, arctic-dwelling creature from around Japan), the cow-eating tree (of India), the famous Jersey Devil, and the Tatzelwurm (of Switzerland. If you’ve been following me for a really long time, you’ll know that I’ve already stat-ed a Tatzelwurm, but the old stats weren’t as good).
Once again, it was exceedingly difficult to find the original sources, my apologies.

Ship wreck Revenant. One of the bigger minis I have painted. This guy is a boss for my pirate themed campaign, it was fun to paint but one of my first large minis. I may go back and repaint it in the future.

Some newly painted minis. The Dwarf Cannoneer and Grung Ranger. Both minis are from Stonehaven miniatures. The very large Rottie is the rangers pet from Reaper minis (war hound).

You can't DM a pirate themed campaign without a proper Kraken for the group to fight. Painted this big guy from Reaper Miniatures, he has a lot of nice details on him that I really liked.

A Gnome fire mage from Stonehaven Miniatures and his budy the human barbarian from wiz kids. Painted them as a tribute to my best friend who passed away last year. I was really pleased with how the mage turned out.
