i found the ask button, hi my scientist seems really depressed and im not sure what's wrong? i gave them a 4x4 enclosure with a couple little test tubes and food coloring to make pretend science liquids, what am i doing wrong?
A 4x4 enclosure is NOT enough space for a scientist!!! Maybe it works for them as babies but as your scientist matures you WILL need to upgrade to a proper laboratory setup! Many people feel that this is a lot of space for a scientist and end up forcing them to live in enclosures that are much too small to be able to support a growing scientist. If you keep your scientist in an enclosure that is insufficient in size, it can lead to things like depression, lack of focus, and in severe cases the construction of tiny doomsday weapons!
It's always important to provide your scientist with the appropriate care. The best enclosure you can get for your scientist is a full laboratory, allowing them space to pace, write on the walls, and construct large devices! While I know not everyone can afford a large laboratory, even a decent one of unused-classroom-in-a-rundown-university size would work for a smaller scientist!
You also mentioned test tubes and food coloring, and while this is suitable enrichment for a younger scientist, as they mature you WILL need to provide more advanced experiments for your scientist to play with! Things like boxes of various miscellaneous scrap metal, a plasma ball, or a large chalkboard with multiple colors of chalk are good starters! There's always new inventions and experiment material kits being created and sold, and it's always a good idea to buy locally! Of course, do your research before buying anything for your scientist to make sure it's free of harmful substances like two different colored liquids that can leak and touch each other causing a large explosion, or even large red buttons as these can be harmful to your scientist and you!
Take good care of your scientist and they will take good care of you <3

Hello everybody! You can call me whatever you like as long as you use any pronouns except she/her, and I'm a big advocate for proper scientist care!! It's really important to me to spread the word about proper scientist care, and how to keep your scientists healthy and happy! I'll be around finding scientist videos that I feel will provide an insightful look into how to care for a scientist. If you find anything you'd like me to look at, please feel free to send it to me!
Stay safe out there, and don't forget the goggles!
