End Patriarchy | Why It Will Probably Never Stop
“Tumblr has taught me more about feminism than school ever did, and there’s something wrong with that.”
And that is the sad fact about this world. School never did - and probably never will - teach us anything about why patriarchy is so bad. It only tells us how everything was terrible for women some years ago, and that now, everything is perfect. It tells us about Lucy Stone and Rosa Parks, but not how we still need strong women like them. And it never tells us much about the current feminists like Malala.
Things are definitely better than a century ago, but are we yet where we need to be? Do women actually get the same rights as men? Of course! We get to vote, have the same job opportunities, wearing short dresses isn’t illegal anymore. Except that the interviewer will still prefer a male candidate over a female one, and if we wear what we want, we might just get raped.
Tumblr media
And that will never change if we don’t stop teaching the same shit load of senseless ideals generation after generation.
We teach our girls not to wear short stuff, not the guy to not rape.
We shamelessly abort the girl child, and encourage others to do so.
We criticize the victim, and sympathize with the rapist.
youtube
And the next generation watches this, learns that this is the way of the world, and follows it. And the cycle simply repeats itself. Over and over. Forever.
The only way to stop patriarchy, is to teach children that it’s wrong. But schools don’t do that, and only a few parents actually tell their kids what feminism stands for. These kids start out good - respecting the girls around them - but then comes the overwhelming feeling to match friends who grew up thinking that males are superior, and there goes everything they ever believed it in the dump. Some of them do stick to their original ideals though, or change later on; and those are the good, perfect guys every girl dreams of. If only there were more of them.
Tumblr media
If we ever want to change this state of the world, the kids are the way. And since kids just believe there parents, it might just end up never happening. And our world will always remain a pathetic place.

12 Reasons To (Not) Visit Ladakh
Ladakh is a much sought after tourist destination – and I just don’t get why. Here’s why you should NOT make Ladakh your next travel getaway.
Tumblr media
There are only mountains in this place. Seriously! The whole place is all about big, barren mountains. I remember when I visited the place – it was disastrous. You look around and all you see is brown mountains. Some are snow tipped, and I used to call them choco-chip ice cream sundaes because they look just like that. But others are just normal mountains with the serene blueness of lakes amidst them, and only a crazy person can find that interesting. Right?
Tumblr media
There are too many weird animals in this place. I mean, who has ever heard about something called an Ibex? Or a blue sheep? Heck no, sheep are meant to be white. And Ladakh is filled with these strange animals. You definitely do not want to go there and get harmed by one of these unknown things – Kenya might be safer! At least you’ve heard about a lion before.
Tumblr media
Food. I cannot stress enough on this point. The majority of the food here is Tibetan styled. Stuff like momos are more commonly available than what you’d eat at home. Anyway, momos are special food, right? That’s why we pay loads of bucks to eat them at an elite restaurant. If they’re available this easily, then there’s definitely something wrong with them. You can’t get momos at such cheap rates! Moreover, one of the biggest points to keep in mind while travelling is always food. New places are amazing, but if you can’t eat the food there, you’ll probably die of starvation!
Tumblr media
Ladakh is all about monasteries. The same old monasteries which you can easily find anywhere in the world. True, these are really old and beautiful holy places, but that is just not good enough. When you travel, you want your destination to have something more than the same old sports like paragliding, the same old scenic beauty, and the same old monasteries. Which makes Ladakh a big no-no!
Tumblr media
There’s no oxygen in this place. Not enough for normal human beings anyway. Maybe the people who live in Ladakh have some kind of Harry Potter wizardry – I’m thinking they have a spell which magically gives them power to breathe without oxygen (bubble-head charm, anyone?) – but that spell is obviously not provided to tourists. Everybody knows oxygen comes from plants and since the vegetation level here is low, there is obviously not enough oxygen to survive. If you are on a suicide mission however, Ladakh is definitely the right place for you.
Tumblr media
The place has some awful road tracks. Many roads are more maintained here than a lot of other places, but then again, many are terrible too. If you go when it’s snowing, instead of dreaming about the eye catching beauty of the pristine snow, please worry about the roads. Think about it, potential injuries are always more important than gorgeous adventures!
Tumblr media
There are a lot of ethnic groups in Ladakh. And while that makes it ideal for exploring different cultures, it’s an apparently proven fact that more the groups, more the chance for riots. Currently, Ladakh is a pretty peaceful place with friendly families. But who knows? When you go there, some group might suddenly decide it’s superior to the others and start riots! That would be bad.
Tumblr media
The language here is similar to the Tibetan language. You can’t communicate with the locals in a normal manner, because obviously, none of them can possibly be educated enough to know English. The literacy rate in Ladakh is just 62%! You might want to take some language classes or hire a translator before leaving. That’s generally not favorable for one’s pocket though. I mean come on; China would be a better option than here.
Tumblr media
There are so many quirky festivals in Ladakh. People paint their faces and dress up, all to look like some kinds of demons! These festivals have large participation levels and beautiful stories behind the traditions, but really, you do not want to get scared out of your wits. It might be fun for the horror-loving weirdos among you though.
Tumblr media
This is an especially bad point if you’re the normal male chauvinist. Women in Ladakh are given a high status and loads of respect. Also, it is quite normal for the groom to go live in the bride’s house after marriage! How ridiculous is that? People here don’t quite understand the meaning of the glorious patriarchy. Not good, definitely not good.
Tumblr media
The weather here is terrible. The sun is too harsh and the nights are too cold. You are just going to end up with sunburns and frostbites at the same time, everyone does; and that can be really painful. Which means that the people living there have burnt skin all the time, yet they manage pretty well – hats off to them!
Tumblr media
There’s this quote from a movie called Wild – “And not until I got lost, did I find myself.” And Ladakh is the perfect place to do that. It’s a beautiful retreat, a new life away from our normally hectic lives. A place to get lost and rediscover ourselves. But well, who wants to get lost? Rather, who even has the time to do that? Our busy lives are better than that. Really.

You’re right, I’m sorry. It’s just that most people I know do it, so I didn’t think much about using the word “everyone”. In any case, that’s wrong. There are a lot of good people out there too, and I definitely agree with that!

Who is a slut?
Slut shaming - what is it actually? Why do we call only women sluts and not men?
Slut shaming is something we do almost every single day. Women, men, everyone does it. We step out, we see a girl wearing clothes WE don’t like, and be like, “Damn, she’s such a slut.” We see a girl roaming around with a group of guys, “What a hoe!” A girl who’s dated many guys before - “Whore!” A girl who goes out on one night stands, “She’s probably just a disgusting bitch.” We all do this.
Tumblr media
A guy does ANY of these things, he gets termed as a hot stud. A big, influential man.
But even if we decide to forget about the fact that this is clearly so patriarchal, I still have a question for you. What exactly is wrong in being a so-called slut? Slut, whore, hoe, bitch, prostitute. That endless list of derogatory words. They were just invented by a satanic society to express its mean side.
Tumblr media
There isn’t anything wrong with wearing clothes you’re comfortable in. Heck, if it’s 90 degrees outside, I AM going to wear really short shorts and the world can call me a hoe for all I care.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong in going out with a group of males, so long as they don’t hurt you.
There’s no harm in dating many guys - at least that girl you call a *whore* didn’t settle for the wrong one like you.
Having casual sex is NOT wrong.
Slut shaming is wrong. And we need to stop it.

I totally, totally agree with that. People who are risking their health aren’t in a position to call themselves shamed - it’s more likely the concern others have for them. This post is intended for people who get shamed for a few extra pounds, or other reasons. I’m not promoting obesity in any way.
Tumblr media
Almost every girl in this world (and a lot of boys too) has experienced body shaming. Whether it’s for too many piercings or some extra pounds, we all know how bitter body shaming can be. People comment on others’ bodies like they own them. They seemingly have a problem with everything – hair color, skin color, clothes, piercings, weight, nose, eyes, mouth, ears, height, neck, nails. Pretty much every part of the body. Including the heart – though people somehow don’t consider the heart as a part of the body and don’t include it under the term body shaming. But in any case, body shaming drastically brings down the confidence of an individual, and it needs to stop.
Tumblr media
People should be allowed to look and dress as they like. A bright red or a pastel blue hair color – it’s NOT your problem. So shut up and stop commenting about it just because you aren’t brave enough to pull it off. A short neck is just as pretty as a long neck. Pale skin and dark skin make no difference unless you’re racist, or just a big jerk. Being fat isn’t something to be ashamed of. Nor is being thin. Like the word “slut”, “fat” and “thin” and all those other derogatory words are mean terms created by our mean society. Piercings aren’t bad if the person wants to have them. No one asked for your opinion, so don’t just pop it up unnecessarily.
Tumblr media
And for everyone who says body shaming includes shaming people who don’t use make up or any other cosmetic product, it also includes shaming people who do use them. I don’t quite understand why this hasn’t been brought up more often. I am a feminist, but that doesn’t mean I can’t use make up. Make up isn’t for impressing others, it’s just something you do because you like it. It’s something you do for fun, and for feeling different or more comfortable. If I have a big zit on my cheek, I AM going to use concealer. But that’s not for impressing that cute guy at school – it’s for feeling good about me, no matter what. And that applies for guys too. It probably sounds weird to many, but it’s true. Most people who use make up do it because they like doing it. Not for impressing idiots like you.
Tumblr media
Nazis wanted *perfect* Germans with blond hair and blue eyes. So the next time someone tries body shaming you, just go right ahead and call them Hitler, because that’s probably what they are.

EDIT - To everyone who thinks it’s a women oriented post - it is not. I really couldn’t find any male-oriented pictures, and I don’t create my own photos. Everyone who shames a man for being fat, thin, too muscular, less muscular, short, tall, or even gay - they are wrong. This post was meant to target body shaming as a whole, not just for women. Sorry if it seems a bit women-targeted!
It’s your body, you have the right to do whatever you want with it. Anyone commenting on it is wrong. (Now this doesn’t mean you can go do drugs, because you can do anything with your body!)

Why do people hate feminists?
It’s a common question, and everyone knows that a lot of people hate feminists. In the short span of time since I started this blog, I’ve already received a lot of hate messages. The question is, why? Feminism used to be a good thing - then how did giving women equal rights become bad?
Tumblr media
I agree there are some fake feminists out there, who propagate that all are bad. But there are also instances when a woman can’t help but believe that men are demons. If you were abused, raped and tortured by a man, would the thought of men be as pleasing as before? If your father (or any other guy, honestly) raped you and said it’s his right as a man, wouldn’t you start disliking men because of their apparently superior rights? You would. And if you find a way to let your feelings out, you’ll do that too. And since the internet is an easy way of doing that, there are a lot of men-hate messages out there. And I believe that’s how anti-feminism began.
Tumblr media
To put it more simply, if a guy breaks your heart after pretending to love you for three years, you won’t trust another guy the same way again till you find the right one. Till then, you’re just going to date every guy with the assumption that he’ll break your heart. Same applies when a girl breaks a guy’s heart. It’s like the quote - trust is like a paper, once crumpled, it’ll never be the same again.
But people forget that feminism is NOT about demonizing males. It is about providing equality. It’s about making sure that women are not underestimated.
Tumblr media
People, both men and women, however, just decided to assume the feminism is eliminating the male race. It isn’t. It’s about eliminating patriarchy. It’s about changing the fact that people with dicks have always tried dominating the world. It’s about eliminating the possibility of this -
Tumblr media
The only thing that’s different about today than a hundred years ago, is that at least women are allowed to run. The problems and hurdles society produces in the middle of it are not even being considered yet.
For example, when I decided that I wanted to study abroad and major in mechanical engineering, everyone stopped me. Including my family. I was told that mechanical is only for boys, that I cannot go to a college too far from home, and that I must pick a more girly career. Notice how I use words like “must”. Today, I’m rebelling against everyone I love so I can do the one thing I love the most. If I ever do become a mechanical engineer though, no one will ever consider the problems my family set up to stop me as a part of the race. And eliminating that is what feminism is about.
Tumblr media
Feminists are not feminazis. We are about eliminating patriarchy. Not about killing or demonizing men. We are about stopping the power of the bad men - and giving more respect to the good ones. We are about believing in the goodness and control of men.
Tumblr media
And I already know I’m probably going to get more hate messages for this, but to hell with them. I am a feminist, and I believe in the beauty of feminism. It’s darker side was man-made. We are not undermining men, we are just equalizing women. That’s just what feminism is all about.
This Quora question perfectly expresses every doubt anyone ever had related to feminism - https://www.quora.com/Why-do-some-people-hate-feminists-so-much
Tumblr media
A very big difference at that.

Yes, and that’s great. But gym should be to get fit and healthy, not to impress society. If a person takes steroids which kind of bloat him up (and assuming he was fitter before), how is that his fault? And why should he be shamed for it?

Again, I’m not saying being beautiful is wrong. Many people consider it as an achievement and that’s not wrong. But really, why exactly do people say longer necked people are better than ones with short necks? Or why is having green hair a bad thing? Our society teaches us a lot of bullshit values including patriarchy, or that males are superior. If you want me to start conforming to all that crap, then I’d much rather face the consequences. Everything the society says is not right.

This Quora question perfectly expresses every doubt anyone ever had related to feminism - https://www.quora.com/Why-do-some-people-hate-feminists-so-much
Tumblr media
A very big difference at that.

Tumblr media
Hey guys, this post is gonna be about using products found in your kitchen to your skin's benefit! There are loads of different ways to achieve a softer, smoother skin naturally, and I'm gonna tell you a few of them today.
The basic ingredients I'm gonna be using in these techniques are
1. Honey
Tumblr media
2. Lemon
Tumblr media
3. Gram Flour
Tumblr media
4. Turmeric
Tumblr media
5. Curd (NOTE - use curd if you have oily skin. If you have dry skin, use milk)
Tumblr media
6. Rose Water
Tumblr media
(Here's how to make your own rose water - http://www.popsugar.com/smart-living/DIY-Rosewater-33121814)
7. Cinnamon
Tumblr media
8. Aloe Vera
Tumblr media
Now there are a few things you should know before using aloe vera, if you are using the plant. If you're gonna be using a gel available in the market, you can ignore this part.
Carefully cut the leaf from the bottom, as there is hardly any gel in the top part. You can just break it, but a knife or a blade would be better and less messy.
Tumblr media
Wash the leaf to get rid of any insects or germs.
Now, depending on how much gel you need, cut off a piece of the leaf and then slice it open.
Then, scoop out the gel with a spoon or a knife as shown -
Tumblr media
If you have a large part of the leaf left, put it in a glass of water, with the thicker part submerged into the water. It should last for at least 4-5 days.
Don't scoop out all the gel and store that, because it may get spoiled in just 1-2 days.
Recipe  1
Ingredients -
about 1-2 tbsp of curd (or milk)
2 tbsp of gram flour
1-2 tsp of honey
0.5 tsp cinnamon (optional)
You can increase the proportion of gram flour if you want a thicker mixture.
Mix everything together, spread it properly on your face, and let it dry. After around 20-3 minutes wash it off. Your skin should instantly feel softer and more glowing!
Recipe 2
Ingredients -
1 tbsp aloe vera gel
1 - 1.5 tbsp honey
1 tsp rose water
In this recipe, I started using rose water mainly to cover the smell of aloe vera (it smells disgusting!) However, rose water has its own benefits for skin and makes the recipe even better!
In a small bowl, take the aloe vera and using a spoon (or something like that) mash the aloe vera. It may not get completely mashed, but make sure a lot of the juice comes out. Add the honey and rose water to it. Apply it on your face and leave it for as long as you like, you could also leave it overnight if you could manage the mess it would make! After you wash it off, your face should be smoother and brighter. This is an especially effective recipe for removal of some kinds of deep acne scars too, if used regularly for a few months.
Recipe 3
Ingredients -
0.5 tsp of lemon
a pinch or two of turmeric
2 tbsp gram flour
1 tbsp curd (or milk)
Just mix the ingredients together, apply it on your face and wash it off after 15-20 minutes at most. If you have very dry skin, you may want to skip this recipe as lemon may further dry out your skin. However, it is pretty effective for oily and normal skins and brings a fresh glow to your face! Lemon also acts as a natural bleaching agent, so it's effective for all those scars.
Recipe 4
In the above recipe, add 2 tsp honey instead of gram flour. This recipe is safer for dry skin types.
Recipe 5
If you want to lighten your skin tone, use this recipe -
1 tsp lemon
3 tsp honey
2-3 tsp curd
1 tbsp gram flour
0.5 tsp cinnamon powder (optional)
Mix everything together and leave it on your face for 30-40 minutes. Do this every day to have visible results.
Recipe 6
Ingredients -
0.25 tsp cinnamon powder
0.5 tsp honey
0.5 tsp aloe vera
3-4 drops of lemon (optional)
Mix them together (after mashing the aloe) and apply it only on your acne and pimple scars. If you didn't add lemon, you can leave it overnight, or else not more than 40 minutes. Regular usage should cause the scars to fade, leaving behind a smoother skin.
Those were the major recipes. You could mix any of the ingredients I've listed and try out different combinations too - just be careful with the usage of lemon and turmeric (those are known to cause break outs in some people).
Alternatively, each of the ingredients has its own use and can be used separately. You could replace your cleansing lotion with some rose water. You could also apply just curd or just honey or just aloe on your face. Gram flour can be mixed with normal water or rose water and used separately, though I would recommend mixing it with curd instead.
So go ahead and experiment! These natural remedies are gentler to your skin than the chemical ones, and are perfect for people like me who have really sensitive skin. Try these recipes out and let me know if they worked for you!

*FAT* is not the whole point of this post. People get body shamed for a lot of reasons other than fat. People called my cousin ugly because he was a little shorter than the norm. That’s wrong, right? I’m not forcing you stop observing, I’m just saying that it isn’t a bad thing to look the way you want to. I’m not encouraging anyone to be unfit or unhealthy. But what about the people who have a disease or it’s genetic? And body shaming is never right. So if you don’t wanna associate with a person you decide to call ugly, don’t. Just don’t shame them about it.
Not all people are like you, I wouldn’t mind if all my friends decide to dye their hair crazy colors, get 10 piercings, and put on weight. If you can’t tolerate fat people, doesn’t mean others shouldn’t either.
