if you’re comfortable, would you mind writing gaga x fem!reader, where reader struggles with some insecurities due to being more on the plus size side of body sizes. and when gaga finds out about the reader (her gf), she goes off and basically makes it her mission to make her girlfriend see herself as beautifully as she does?? it can be all fluff, fluff and smut, whatever you’d like! sorry, if this is an odd request, I’m just having a low body image day, I think.
anyway, love your writing so much!
To Show You How Beautiful You Are – Lady Gaga x Fem!PlusSize!Reader
note: I actually had more fun writing this than I expected. Thank you for the request.

To Show You How Beautiful You Are - Lady Gaga
pairing: Lady Gaga x Fem!PlusSize!Reader
warnings: body shaming, online hate, fluff
summary: see request
word count: 1.1k
Just recently the word had gotten out into the world, that you were dating Lady Gaga. You were comfortable with it at first. You were actually the one who had less of a problem with your relationship going public. Stefani wanted to protect you, always. She was worried about how you would feel if people wouldn’t like it. She wanted to make sure you were comfortable at all times and costs.
You hadn’t told your girlfriend about all the messages you had gotten on your social media. They were mean. And if it would have been just one or two, you wouldn’t have bothered about it but there had been coming at least one hundred of these every day.
Stefani had been practically locked up in the studio the last few days and you had spent the majority of these days in bed, crying most of the time. Gaga is so beautiful. She deserves better than you, lard-ass. That was just one of the messages you had gotten that day. You’re pretty for a plus-sized girl, but Gaga could do better.
It was almost midnight when you heard the door to your shared apartment open. You had immediately stopped crying, not wanting to burden your girlfriend with your problems. She must have thought you were asleep as she was being as quiet as possible. You heard her climb up the steps to your bedroom and you took a deep breath, trying to calm down.
Slowly, the door opened, Stefani slipped inside and carefully closed the door behind her. When she turned around and saw you she immediately dropped her bag and rushed over to you, sitting next to you and gently taking your face into her small hands. “Baby, what happened? Why are you crying?” She asked you, eyes all worried. The last thing you needed right now was for Stefani to be stressed so you just shook your head, shrugging her question off. “I’m fine. It’s nothing.” You tried to smile but you could tell she wasn’t believing your act. “How was your day?” You asked, trying to change the subject.
“Don’t do that. Don’t try and change the subject.” Stefani said sternly, her hands wandering from your face to your hands, gently holding onto them. “Talk to me.” She encouraged. You sighed and pulled away from her, turning to sit on the edge of the bed.
“I just, I had,” You hesitated. “See for yourself.” You said and handed her your phone. “Stefani, I promise, I’m fine.” You tried to assure her as she scrolled through the messages before shutting the phone off and placing it on the nightstand. “It’s nothing I haven’t heard before.” She sighed softly and knelt down in front of you, her hands holding yours in your lap as she looked up at you. She, more than anyone else knew that the only way to upset you that much was if someone mentioned your weight.
“They are dickheads, Y/n. And they are jealous because they are not nearly as beautiful as you are. They have no idea what they are talking about.” She said softly, her thumbs stroking the back of your hands. A tear rolled down her cheek. Seeing you like this was hell to her. Seeing that people hurt you because they claimed to love her so much. People that acted like they had every right to have a say in her dating life. “Baby, You are the most beautiful person in the universe. Fuck them and their stupid beauty standards. Fuck their skinny cheerleaders and models and...”
“Stefani, stop. Please.” You begged, “There’s the mirror, okay?” You said, pointing to the mirror next to the door. “I know what I look like, I’ll probably always be the ‘lard-ass’, no need to bullshit me.” You hissed. Stefani frowned, her eyes narrowing.
“Y/n, baby. Is that really how you feel?” She sighed sadly and you just shrugged. “Sometimes I just… I just don’t know why you’re with me. You could have anybody in the world .” A small laugh fell from her lips.
“Are you for real now?! I love you, Y/n.” She said, leaving no room to argue. “Why would I want any of them if you are right here? Do you think they could make me laugh like you do? That they could put up with all the shit that comes with being my partner? Do you think anyone could compare with the way you make me feel?” You shrugged and Stefani sighed, rolling her eyes in a playful but dramatic way.
“I guess, if you don’t believe me, I just have to show you how beautiful you are.” She smiled as she rose to her feet, pulling you up with her, her hands coming to rest on your waist. “Hi.” She whispered and you blushed, there was no escaping. She then leaned in and softly kissed you.
Her lips moved softly against yours, the faint taste of her cigarettes was still lingering on her tongue.
She gently got a hold of your hands and led you over to the mirror you had previously pointed at. She turned you around so you could see yourself in it. She gently left kisses along your neck and shoulders. You wanted to turn around and get away from the mirror. You didn’t want to see yourself. You closed your eyes.
“Keep those pretty eyes open, baby,” Stefani told you gently but you didn’t open them. “Baby.” She warned and you opened them just a tiny bit. “Good girl.” She praised. “May I?” She asked, her hands holding onto the bottom of your hoodie. You nodded and she gently lifted the piece of clothing above your head.
“You see this?” She asked, gently caressing your tummy. You nodded. “And this?” She traced the stretch marks on your stomach. She turned you back around so that you were now facing her again instead of the mirror. “And these gorgeous tits?” She teased, playfully cupping each with a hand. You couldn’t help but laugh.
You took your bottom lip between your teeth, trying to hide the lovesick smile that was working its way across your face. “Now, what are you grinning at?” Stefani teased, smirking at you.
“You,” You simply told her, pulling her flush against you. “Thank you.” Her brows furrowed, confused.
“For what?”
“For loving me, the way I never thought I could be loved. For accepting me in a way that not many people can.” You told her softly, tracing around the David Bowie tattoo on her side. “Thank you for making me feel beautiful.” A sob caught in your throat with the last words. “I love you, Stefani.”

Ed shaming is not ok, its mental illness shaming, and most bitches who ed shame have an ed themselves and just like desperately resorting to shaming anorexics and bulimics bcus they think it will convince everyone THEY dont have an ed. u not fooling anyone booboo. Ed shaming doesnt snap them out of it. It creates feelings of shame which leads to depression and depression causes loss of appetite. Not ed shaming is not enabling their ed.
When i was suffering from depression, i hated how everyone around wouldnt stop talking about how sad they were that i was depressed bcus it just kept reminding me that i had a problem. I only started to get better when everyone shut the fuck up and talked about literally anything else.
Now put two and two together and connect the dots dipshits.

It was always a fear of mine
That people would use photos of me, either stolen from social media or taken without my knowledge in public, to share online for the purpose of either motivating themselves to starve or to roast my body type.
Because people were regularly saying nasty, unkind things to my face, I feared how much worse those comments would be if they were anonymously discussing my photo online.
I remember getting comments on instagram telling me to off myself and that I don’t even look human. Which were left publicly under my photos. So I always had this thought that people would screenshot them and send them to a private groupchat or forum to tear me apart even further. I eventually closed my instagram account. That wasn’t the only reason but it was a primary one.
I also didn’t want my body to be associated with starvation, illness, and death. Even worse than receiving nasty comments, I feared being posted as “thinspo” to a bunch of sick kids on a forum somewhere. I was horrified at the thought of being recognized in public as ‘the girl from the pro ana forum’, which someone may have posted my pictures to without my knowledge.
I was already NEVER believed when people asked if I had anorexia or bulimia and I truthfully said no. So I thought that if I’m found on one of those sites, I’d have absolutely no chance of defending myself. Nobody would believe me if I told them those pictures were stolen or taken and posted without my knowledge/consent. It would just be taken as proof that I’m a liar trying to cover up my obvious eating disorder.
If anyone bothers reading this, think again about sneakily snapping a picture of a stranger, think again about stealing someones pictures from their social media, thank again about assuming that random thin girl is starving herself, think again about asking her intrusive questions, think again about leaving accusatory comments under their posts. Just leave that thin girl alone.

btw the term "women's health" to discuss uterine care/menstruation isnt just transphobic, it also keeps up this aggravating idea that the uterus & menstruation are obscene and impolite and need to be kept hidden under flowery vague terms as to not offend any cis men. like trans people demanding the end of gendered language around this stuff aren't just helping trans people, its also just good to normalize calling tampons and pads "menstrual supplies" because thats what they fucking are!!! we should say the words uterus vagina menstruation and we should do it in public and in stores instead of talking about ~women's needs~ and ~feminine care~. trans liberation is fundamental to women's liberation and anti-patriarchal action in general. listening to trans men & people isn't bad for women its good for literally everyone

invisible scars (referenced previous talk here)
[ID: A colourless, digital Trigun comic of Vash and Wolfwood talking about Wolfwood's scars. They're both laying in bed and topless. Vash lays on top of Wolfwood, playing with the rosary around his neck. Then, Vash kisses a spot on Wolfwood's chest. Wolfwood asks, "What are you doing?" Vash smiles sadly, "You got shot here. In the last town we visited. You didn't even bother moving."
Vash props himself up over Wolfwood, who frowns slightly. Wolfwood is quiet for a moment before he says, "You remember that, huh?" Vash grabs Wolfwood's left wrist and brings it to his face. "And here." He kisses another spot there. "When you helped free the hostages from that robber..." Wolfwood dismissively says, looking away, "Was a lucky shot." Vash huffs, “Don’t brag. Jeez.”
Half of Wolfwood's expression is shown, eyes returning to Vash who is now sitting up, continuing to say, "And..." Vash goes on and kiss Wolfwood's right palm. "You got cut here, even though that girl was aiming at me." A moment from the past flashes, of Wolfwood grabbing a knife aimed at Vash, his hand bleeding.
At present, Vash moves down and puts another kiss on Wolfwood's right shoulder. "And here, from watching my back." Another memory flashes of Wolfwood and Vash back to back. Vash looks back as Wolfwood grins while holding Punisher, bleeding from multiple gunshots in his shoulder.
"And," Vash combs up Wolfwood's hair to reveal his forehead, "Here." A final memory shows Wolfwood with a regeneration vial in his mouth while getting shot on his temple. The next panel is framed in blood with Vash at the center, eyes wide and stunned in horror. The next panel is a closed up shot of Wolfwood's eye, locked on Vash's face.
Back to present, Vash’s head is bowed down as Wolfwood raises a hand to his nape and says, “Spikey.”
Wolfwood looks serious and frowns as he says, "We talked about this. Those were my decisions. They're not there anymore. Forget about them." Vash looks very sad before he smiles ruefully and says, "I still see them. All the time." He leans down so they touch foreheads. Wolfwood’s sorrowful expression can be seen as Vash says, "You protect so much. I could never forget what you've done to me. And many others..."
In the last image, they're drawn more cartoonishly. Wolfwood sweats and asks, "You don't actually remember every wound, right?" Vash points at a spot on his chest. "Kuroneko left a scratch here 7 times." Wolfwood, startled, says, "Why the hell are you keeping count—" End ID]

#vashwood#vash the stampede#nicholas d wolfwood#trigun#trigun maximum#another scars comic for one of the vw week days!!!! frankly i think about their scars WAY too often . most notably wolfwood's because#it really symbolizes a lot for him imo bc for vash it's a history of all the people that's ever harmed him betrayed him and the trust he has#given to humanity despite it all. its a beautiful reflection of his character and then u look at ww and presumably#since we dont really see him half naked Ever (shame) and i mean. i guess technically its a hc -- i assume he wouldn't have any scars bc#of the regen potions (which is why he doesnt have his t scars btw the regen pot took them away :pensive:)#in a way its like washing his hands of blood. giving him the body of someone who might never been involved in a fight never held a gun#but he knows thats not true yet he cant really do anything about it anyway bc he's still just human. if he stops taking the regen pots#he can't press forward. so its just a rinse and repeat and growing accustomed to whats inflicted on him because he knows it'll go away at#the end of the day. he's human but he's also not he's far beyond what could be considered a normal human but he still just is.#mortal but also not immortal. idk. i overthink about it a lot GMSKGMDK frankly i dont think it matters THAT much in the context of trimax#but it means a lot to me somehow. also thinking about how no matter how many times ww kills he's never numb to the sensation of it. maybe#the adrenaline gets to him for the beginning half but ive been rereading like.. vol 3? and that entire fight for ww#u can slowly see him spiral as he keeps on going on. anyway anyway. i love ww#ruporas art

I had to decide weather to openly shame you for this ask or keep this buried in my ask box and never let it see the light of day again and I've decided to openly shame you Medieval style, not an ounce of decorum in this place. That being said, someone get this to Mr Gutherie effective immediately

So much misogyny in skinny shaming. When its an anorexic male the comments are nothing but “ZOMG U POOR INNOCENT VICTIM ITS NOT UR FAULT I HOPE U GET BETTER”
But when its a female its “U DONT DESERVE THE RIGHT TO EXIST ON THE INTERNET TILL U GAIN A FAT WHORE ASS THAT THE MALES CAN JERK OFF TO HOW DARE U PROMOTE UR ANOREXIC BODY EVEN THO UR LITERALLY JUST EXISTING”
Its wrong to say “hide away and dont come out till u lose weight” when its a fat girl so why is the exact opposite ok to say to a mentally ill OR naturally skinny girl? And most bitches dont even care abt the health of the victim they do only wana see them become jerkoffable and or less intimidatingly gorgeous bcus sabotoging skinny bodies helps the fuck ugly cope. Most internet anorexics and naturally skinny bitches are just existing and if their existence triggers u its u whos the problem. Block. Leave. Keep scrolling. Log off.
I think naturally skinny bitches and ed bitches need to form an alliance bcus we’re both targets of anti skinny misogyny and fake health concerns.

original thief series basso & garrett :)
ngl, it's about quality over quantity for me. an npc can have a total of three minutes of screen time, but if they have a cool name, they can live rent free in my head and I'll spend several hours trying to decipher drawable features from a blurry screenshot of pixels
there is a vague hint of a story here, and that's because every time I try to play thi4f, I get incredibly frustrated with how Not Fun the game play is. like, is the story good? well. but it has a PLAGUE. that should've given it instant 'I'll replay this once a year' status in my heart, but the game play sucks so bad that I've never finished it. I can't believe Not Fun gameplay beat out my obsession with narrative plagues.
anyway, the idea is basically if the original era had a game with a plague centric narrative and some other stuff I liked out of thi4f thrown into a narrative blender, with a heavy dash of horror thrown in because some parts of the thief games were scarier to me than entire dedicated horror genre games.
⭐ places I’m at! bsky / pixiv / pillowfort /cohost / cara.app
#if i had a laptop and the skillset i would attempt a story mod because the thief modders who create whole mission stories#are GENIUS and also somewhat terrifying. love them! xoxox#anyway im actually kind of obsessed with parts of thi4f but its also like. not at that sweet spot of almost good enough to be fun#to talk about. which. for the record. has not stopped me from talking about it at length to people#the city itself actually fucking fascinates me. its almost alive and im SO mad that not a single part of that game is actually terrifying#it should be gnarlier and instead it feels a bit like it doesn't quite want to be trapped in the story it has to tell?#but between the level that has the bodies on the meathooks#and the scene with the bodies hanging from the rafters or whatever that was and garrett living in a clock tower#because the game is very much ALMOST about changing times and authoritarian violence and capitalism#(like. by virtue of how the story sort of spins out i think it misses it's mark on a lot of stuff here#in the sense that i dont feel like it actually wants to tell that story. it wants to. go in a different direction. or at least walk on top#of those themes instead of through it)#ANYWAY between all of those things. it does kind of live in my head rent free. they did create a compelling setting#SHAME THEY DIDNT WANT TO ACTUALLY EAT ANY OF IT#unrelated but i would've given thi4f a 10/10 if they kept garrett's fucking nail polish from the concept art. cowards. unforgivable#thief the dark project#i still have no idea how to tag the game series as a whole RIP#sorry for the dedicated dark project fans. if you know what the general series tag is. please let me know#garrett thief#basso thief

It’s weird to me
that everyone seems capable of accepting that some people are “naturally big”. As in large bone structure, wide, carries a little extra fat and is most comfortable between a bmi of 26-28.
But absolutely NOBODY is capable of accepting that the opposite might also be true. That there are people out there that are effortlessly small, with narrow bone structure, lean with very little fat, and are most comfortable at a bmi of 19-24.
Why is it seemingly impossible for anyone to accept that some people are simply most comfortable being slim, when they all seem to agree that being “naturally big” is a thing?

i know I've mentioned my interpretation of mizu's gender a million times on here but i don't think i ever fully elaborated on it.
so on that note i just wanna ramble about that for a bit. basically, it's my reading of the show that mizu is nonbinary, so let me dig into that.
putting the rest under the cut because it ended up being pretty long lol. also here have a cute mizu pic of her being happy and most at ease with herself, symbolised by her letting her hair down. <3 ok let's proceed.
Tumblr media
thus, when i refer to mizu as nonbinary, i am interpreting mizu as a woman, but not ONLY a woman. not strictly a woman. she is also a man. she is also neither of these things, she is something in between, while at the same time she is none of these at all. i've said as much many times, but i just don't want people to think that when i say nonbinary, it inherently means a "third androgynous gender" that essentially turns the gender binary into a gender trinary. not only is that going against what the term nonbinary was crafted for (to go against rigid boxes and categorisation of gender identities), but also, not all nonbinary people fall under that category or definition, and that's definitely not the way i interpret mizu.
okay before i go deeper i'd just like to address some important things. first of all, this post is an analysis of canon, and thus everything i am arguing for is about my own interpretation of the show, and not some baseless projected headcanon i am projecting onto the character. please remember there is a difference between an interpretation (subjective; interpretations will differ from viewer to viewer, but ultimately it is firmly rooted in evidence taken from the source material) VS a headcanon (unrelated and often even contrary to what is presented in canon; opinions wildly differ and they cannot be argued for because there is no canonical evidence to back it up).
ALSO please note that nonbinary is an umbrella term. this means that it applies to a vast range of gender identities. other identities that fall under the nonbinary umbrella include agender, bigender, genderfluid, and so on. however, it's my personal preference to use the term nonbinary as it is, simply because i'm not a fan of microlabels (more power to you if you do like them and find they suit you more though!).
also, before anyone fights me on this, let me clarify further that gender means something different to everyone. it's not your biological sex or physical characteristics. but at the same time, gender is not mere presentation. you can be a trans woman and still present masculine—either because you're closeted and forced to, or because you just want to—and either way, that doesn't take away from your identity as a woman. same goes for trans men. if you're a trans man but you wear skirts and don't bind or don't get top surgery, that doesn't make you any less of a man. because gender non-conformity exists, and does not only apply to cis people! some lesbians are nonbinary and prefer using he/him pronouns while dressing masculinely, but that doesn't mean they're a man, or that they're any less of a lesbian. neither does this mean that they're a cis woman.
the thing about queer identities in general is that, like i said, they mean something different to everyone, because how you identify—regardless of your biological attributes and fashion or pronouns—is an extremely personal experience. so a nonbinary person and a gnc cis woman's experiences might have plenty of overlap, but what distinguishes between the two is up to the individual. there's no set requirements to distinguish you as one or the other, but it's up to you to decide what you identify as, based on what you feel. either way, by simply identifying yourself as anything under the LGBTQ+ umbrella, you are already communicating to the world that you are not what a conservative, cisheteronormative society wants you to be.
which is why i find all this queer infighting on labels to be so ridiculous. because we're all fighting the same fight; the common enemy is a societal structure that divides us into set roles and expectations purely based on our biological parts. that's why biological essentialism in the queer community is a fucking disease. because by arguing that women are inherently weak and fragile and soft and gentle and must be protected from evil ugly men, while men are inherently strong and angry and violent and exploitative of women, these people are advocating for the same fucked up system that marginalises and abuses women as well as effeminate and/or gay men.
anyway. i'm going on a tangent. this was meant to be a blue eye samurai post. so yeah back to that— the point i'm trying to make is that there's no singular way to identify as anything, as everyone's views on gender, especially their own, is specific and personal to the individual.
so with that being said, yes you can definitely interpret mizu as a gnc cis woman and that's a totally valid reading of the text. however, interpreting her as nonbinary or transmasc also doesn't take away from her experiences with misogyny and female oppression, because nonbinary and transmasc folks also experience these things.
me, personally, i view her as nonbinary but not necessarily or not always transmasc because i still believe femininity and womanhood is a very inherent part of who mizu is. for example, from what we've seen, she does not like binding. it does not give her gender euphoria, but is instead very uncomfortable for her both physically and mentally, and represents her suppressing her true self. which is why when she "invites the whole" of herself, she stands completely bare in front of the fire, breasts unbound and hair untied. when she is on the ship heading to a new land in the ending scene, she is no longer hiding her neck and the lack of an adam's apple. we can thus infer that mizu does not have body dysmorphia. she is, in fact, comfortable in her body, and relies on it extremely, because her body is a weapon. instead, what mizu hates about herself is her face—her blue eyes. she hates herself for her hybridised racial identity, hates herself for being a racial Other. hates that she has no home in her homeland. thus it is important to note that these are not queer or feminist themes, but postcolonial ones.*
* and as a tiny aside on this subject, i really do wish more of the fandom discussion would talk about this more. it's just such an essential part to reading her character. like someone who's read homi k bhabha's location of culture and has watched this show, PLEASE talk to me so we can ramble all about how the show is all about home and alienation from community. please. okay anyway—
nevertheless, queer and feminist themes (which are not mutually exclusive by the way!) are still prevalent in her story, though they are not the main issue that she is struggling with. but she does struggle with it to some extent, and we see this especially during her marriage with mikio, where we see her struggle in women's domestic spaces.
on the other hand, though, she finds no trouble or discomfort in being a man or being around other men—even naked ones—and does not seem stifled by living as one, does not seem all that bothered or uncomfortable navigating through men's spaces. contrast this to something like disney's mulan (1998), where we do see mulan struggle in navigating through men's spaces, as she feels uncomfortable being around so many men, always feeling like she doesn't belong and that she's inherently different from them. mizu has no such experiences like this, as her very personality and approach to life is what can be categorised as typically "masculine". she is straightforward and blunt. her first meeting with mikio, she tells him straight to his face that he's old while frowning and raising a brow at him. she approaches problems with her muscles and fists (or swords), rather than with her words or mind. compare this with mulan, who, while well-trained by the end of the movie, still uses her sharp wits rather than brute strength. this is a typically "feminine" approach. it's also the approach akemi relies on throughout the show—through her intelligence and persuasive tongue, she navigates the brothel with ease. mizu, in contrast to someone like mulan and akemi, struggles with womanhood and femininity, and feels detached from it.
thus, in my opinion, mizu is not simply a man, nor is she simply a woman. she is both. man and woman. masculine and feminine. she has to accept both, rather than suppress one or the other. her name means water. fluid.
as a side note, while i do believe mizu is nonbinary, i also primarily use she/her pronouns for her, but this is a personal preference. i find it's easier to use in fanfic (singular they is confusing to write stories with, but again, that's just my feelings on it, and this is coming from someone who uses they/they pronouns). i also lean towards she/her because it's what the creators and all the official promotional copywriting of the show uses. and even though i am a "death to the author" enjoyer, i feel that when interpreting things that are left open-ended, it does help to look at the creators' take on things. also because, in general, being nonbinary simply doesn't necessitate the use of they/them pronouns. nonbinary is not just a third gender. it's about breaking the binary, in any which way, and that's exactly what mizu does, constantly.
also, i'd also like to mention that one of show's head of story even referred to her with the term "nonbinary", rather than simply "androgynous" (see pic below). and it's possible this could be a slip up on his part, in which he believes the terms are interchangeable (they're not btw), but regardless i find it a very interesting word choice, and one that supports my argument.
Tumblr media
so anyway yeah that's my incredibly long rambling post.
TL;DR nonbinary mizu rights 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 congrats if you reached the end of this btw. also ily. unless you're a TERF in which case fuck off. ok i'm done.
