I just snorted xD

I was watching the donghua with my mom and just realized that when XL is in the cart they show he’s alone, kind of- but there’s one moment where it’s like- like it bumps into a rock?

Anyway in the novel it shows that XL notices HC in the cart pretty quickly, but in the donghua he notices him after the cart just kind of shakes for a moment and my mom yelled “THATS HIM THATS JUAN”

And I just first of all- found it hilarious to see my mom actually fangirling for Hua Cheng she LOVES him.

Second even if it’s not canon the idea that instead of a smooth teleportation into the cart, HC just YEETED himself into it is SO FUNNY LIKE AHSBSBA

I can just imagine him running 🏃 and then jumping into the hay bc Gege is there and then fixing his hair and getting into a hot yet twink pose for his man PFTTT

I love that both the shens are two faced in such insanely different ways. Shen jiu pretends to be haughty but he's hiding the fact that he's traumatized and insecure. Shen yuan pretends to be cool but he's hiding that he's really a huge fucking nerd who reads porn for plot

I finally found a way to share this roller-coaster of a video from 2009 Nico Nico Douga, and by which I mean I tried fully translating it myself despite not fluently knowing japanese, like at all (help lol).

Any and all useful corrections would be greatly appreciated, but let it be known it was a personal creative decision to call the Hondo stoat a fairy, because nobody knows what a stoat is and the "mountain fairy" nickname was too cute not to reference.

Additional interesting translation notes:

old 2ch forum lingo was used here (makes sense considering the time period). "Utsuda Shinou" (うつだ しのう) specifically means "I'm depressed. Let's die." Or alternatively "I'm depressed. I'm going to hang myself." However this is supposedly only said over simple mistakes (for the most part).

In the Niigata dialect, "Shineba iinoni" (しねば いいのに) actually means "You don't/shouldn't have to die" or alternatively "I wish you didn't have to die." This is funny, since the usage of "Shineba iinoni" is clearly in reference to Kaito's song of the same name, where he says the opposite, and wishes death (upon others) when faced with minor irritating inconveniences. I ended up using the Niigata dialect version of the phrase though, because not only did it seem more in line with Len's overall character and attitude, the Niigata region itself contains some of the mountain range in which the Hondo stoats live.
