hope ur okay, wherever u are. you probably won’t see this, but I don’t care. ur YouTube channel randomly popped back up in my recommends recently, and wow, was it a nostalgia trip to my starkid phase (I still like starkid just…not as intensely, I guess). it was kind of sad to go back, see how I used to know every moment and now only vaguely remember most of them. still, it was fun. i hope wherever you are in life, you’re okay.

i also randomly checked my comments and saw yours on yt, which sent me into my own nostalgia spiral. came back here to relive some of it i guess and saw your message. maybe it was fate or something hahah. i usually forget about all this, or remember it vaguely as a silly hobby i had four years ago.

i hope you can find something a little sweet to hold onto through the bitter. we’ve changed, but it doesn’t mean we aren’t still those people so devoted to a fun theater troupe. there’s just more of us now, more life.

We all love each of the Starkids a lot, and it's not a competition. But I'm curious because you've been in the fandom a while and you make awesome fan content (thank you). Who do you think, overall, is the most popular Starkid among fans? Why?

hello, anon! thank you for your questions!

of course i first wanna clarify that all starkids are amazing, special, unique and bring exceptional talent to every project. i don’t think there’s any use in comparing them in a “who is more talented?” way, but everyone has preferences and that’s okay as long as we don’t use them so bring other artists down.

from personal experience, i think lauren is definitely a (if not the) fan favorite. i’d say she’s usually the memeber fans gravitate towards when they first join the fandom; her roles and her acting stand out and she is really compelling. she’s great at commanding attention and keeping the audience invested in the story. i mean, she was draco AND zazzalil AND emma, some of the most iconic roles in the most known starkid musicals. she is 100% iconic and one of the most known starkids even among people who aren’t really into starkid. and she’s really pretty, ya know!

this is how i view it from my personal experience, i feel like we all had a lauren phase at some point and she holds a very special place in everyone’s fandom experience.

On one hand I’m literally so happy for Lauren and Joey but on the other hand the Richpez creeps who invaded their privacy and trawled through people’s wedding videos to find evidence have won.

let’s talk about starkid. no. seriously.

okay if you don’t know, starkid productions has donated 20k to helping BLM organizations and this week is asking us, the fans to send in donations they’ll match. this may or may not include individual donations being given by every member, but this is really important. especially because we all know that most of them can’t work right now and all of them have the same financial limitations and abilities as we do. 

this isn’t like a bunch of hollywood people donating spare money, there IS no spare money, but what can be given is still being offered. don’t sleep on that. that’s amazing and i’m grateful to know these people exist, so let’s not let them down. we got starkid homecoming to happen, we can rally around if all of us give something. i wish i could personally, but if you or something you know can, PLEASE, spread the word!

does anyone else get weirdly attached to little things they make out of... trash i guess?

like a year ago i twisted a short piece of wire and i thought i looked like a little stick man with no arms and though: “i must keep him”, and i did. a friend even took the wire once, untwisted it when i wasn’t looking, and when i saw i made her twist it again wtf

my brother once took the aluminuim lid off a yogurt or something and one piece tore from the rest, he pointed out that it looked like a bridge and i shit you not i still have it !!

two weeks ago i used the stickers that come with birthcontrol pills and i made a butterly and i just... kept that..

yes they are making a mistake, what they’re doing is not okay, but it’s also important to remain kind (which doesn’t mean you can’t be firm and stern).

not that i’ve seen a lot of people being that way, i just think it’s worth reminding since it’s so easy to give into the anger (i’ve totally been there myself).

hopefully the person who’s been post sk homecing content is on tumblr and will maybe see this post. i know it’s general knowledge that posting “premium” starkid content (aka things you have to pay to see) is wrong, and starkid themselves have made a lot of statements about it which it’s so frustrating that it keeps happening.

but, in one more effort to stop this from spreading, please do read this. it’s partnof an email exchange between me and corey regarding one of my videos that had been taken down for a copyright strike. he once again explains why straight reposting is not allowed, and i just hope the channel’s owner can finally understand why those videos need to stop.

starkid can handle their own publicity. please don’t just repost content other than the one they’ve given us for free. i’ve made my mistakes and learned from them, so can you!

so direct action is not an option available to you. what can you do right now instead?

Be mindful of the content you’re putting on your social media accounts. Stop retweeting/reposting violent images and videos of black people dying. Know that content like this, even with trigger warnings included, can be very emotionally disturbing/distressing and yes, even traumatic, for black people navigating the internet right now.

Report any images and videos you see where protestors’ faces are visible/unblurred, particularly in content surrounding the lootings. Don’t retweet or repost these images and videos. This can be a death sentence. 

DONATE, PARTICULARLY TO MINNESOTA-BASED BLACK YOUTH MOVEMENTS / MUTUAL AID FUNDS WHO ARE DOING WORK ON THE GROUND. FOLLOW/BOOST IF YOU CAN’T.
