I mean do I even need to state what this is ...
Tumblr media
... It’s a review.
Okay, it is happening again. I am as they all like to say in america. I am ‘shook’. Netflix are doing it. So, I was scrolling through Instagram videos yesterday, and I suddenly came across this trailer and it looked a little interesting. I mean, it’s not a film we haven’t seen before but still. It is filled with comedic value. AND MASSIVE SHOCK! the family is actually pretty amazing. This film makes fun of the trends, making statements over the top. for instance having a women contour her face for a date and look like a clown. In another shocking turn of events, the boys are actually sweet, not the cliche traditional jackass’s that one would usually see in an american film.
It also shows the positive and the negatives to social media, how someone can be impacted by the way people look. the way people act. News travels fast. It can never end well.
However, my one problem right now is the CLICHE best friend. See the film has come up as the girl was an ugly duckling and then turned into a beautiful swan. But, if you watch it closely the ‘love interest’ liked this girl prior to the ‘fashion statement’ change. The best friend only became in love with her due to the change of looks. You know, it’s fine for movies to have the girl to have fallen for the most popular boy in town and the friend to be angry about it but don’t push a love triangle that should not actually exist.
This film fits perfectly to what I believe is my fall in life, that you catch on a wave and it takes you places, but along the way you forget yourself, you forget what it is and who you are starting out. then at some point the wave crashes and you’re left standing there. Left thinking what happened? Who have I become? then the best part in my eyes is the fact that you get to fix it all. This film shows all that. To explain that everyone even those who are innocent, nerdy, an outcast can still get caught up in the wave. Because like this film proves everyone no matter how much you say you don’t and I know you are shaking your head at me right now. You want to be part of the inner circle, you want to be liked and even loved. But from the old days. If you don’t love yourself and can’t look at yourself without liking what you see, then what is the point?
Who knew that this film review would turn into something more then just a review? my little life pet talk?
So all together, this film hits a good 4.5 for me. It’s funny, It has the cliche cheese but not over done and it’s a complete twist on the popular kids in high school. However it does use old scenes from other ‘high school’ films. But, nothing can be fully original anymore so I guess that is expected. All in all this is a film I would tell people to go watch. To chill and just enjoy.

Okja - A netflix original.
I am not going to lie and say this is a film i would usually watch. It’s not. This film has been up on netflix for a short while now but I have never really found interest in it. I never actually cared to look what it was about to be honest. The very old saying ‘Never judge a book by it’s cover’ is the same saying that every human who has ever lived does frequently and those who deny doing so are most definite liars. Anyway so there’s a clear understanding in the beginning of this film, Okja is a special new species and there is a competition on who can grow the best ‘superpig’. It is very clear that the young girl gets attached to the animal. So far it’s a film that is clearly following the trend of the moment.
So the girl only has her grandfather and the ‘superpig’, is it me or is this over used in films family not being complete having no parents?
it is so obvious what is to happen in this film the ‘superpig’ Okja is sent to america as it has won the competition and now the young girl is off to find it but does not succeed. My bets on the ending of this film is the that Okja goes back to the girl and they live their happily ever after.
What is the point in the story?
girl falls in love with her pet? but the ‘superpig’ was never a pet only an ‘experiment’ of some kind for a massive cooperation. that no matter what the cooperation tells you there are secrets that go far deeper and cannot be trusted. That those who are at the top, who tell you all these great things will come of this newly found experiment is so great and amazing but really it isn’t?
This film is starting to look like a vegetarian telling everyone that no you should not eat meat. think of the animal that you are killing. Think of its feeling and think of the people that raise it. Kind of reminds me of a quote from Harry Potter - ‘You’ve been raising him like a pig to slaughter’ because technically they have been.
So this film is all about the young girl going to save her beloved pet, who, what? isn’t a pet to her because he can go anywhere he freely wants and do what he wants? this film is all about capitalism on animals i guess?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
interesting, people have come to steal Okja, but they aren’t terrorist? their nice people? what the fuck? I have to say this is rather amusing and different. this is definitely a surprise. Lilly Collins is definite interest in this film. She has been quite the sensation.
So it took 50 minutes for this film to change my opinion. Now the question is are they good guys? and so far they are...
Interesting.
Okay, so for children and others who have not been educated, this is a very good film.
Netflix - I have literally just figure this out. they are creating a movement and educating people in the best way if you look at the films that they have been bringing out recently, they all have a message and show both sides of the story and making a clear revelation. They make people think about what they are doing and how they can change their behavior.
Okja -
Big cooperation - is it all about image? what people think of them?
the visionary - starts off with a vision that is incredible. that has a plan and is a brilliant plan but unfortunately is derailed and ruined and corrupted.
What does that mean that no matter how great the idea, how great the plan? It will never be perfect, there will always be people who corrupt the idea and ruin it. You create something so big that you cannot control it anymore. You make enemies and then them enemies go against you. if you think your controlling everyone who is controlling you? the brain behind the face and that is the person that is where the corruption begins.
it’s all about publicity  - But if you look at it, focusing on the child on the reuniting and how the child is given this chance to go to america, the child is the focus. the focus is not on okja so throughout this whole time what is happening to the pig? what is going on?
Family issues - a arsehole sister to the big CEO so that would mean? the CEO has to prove something and that is never ever a good thing. The the child has no parents only one grandfather where are the family values? or is the way in which films are shown in modern day the same as everyone looks at families...
1 hour 13 minutes in and it shows what really happens. the slaughtering of animals. Even me watching this, me, who loves meat has made me sick. The thought of eating meat of any kind.
This film only makes me think, not to trust big cooperation’s, the disgusting nature of human beings and how one person, one cooperation, one movement can turn a whole group of people.
The fact that every person, can become a follower can believe the pipe bullshit dream and not ask questions.
The end of the film, when the girl saves Okja, the question you ask then is but what about the rest of them? Who saves and loves them?
A creation, an unnatural creation has been made and it cannot be unmade. so what now? because no matter what anyone says, breeding will proceed and that ‘superpig’ will be slaughtered and be in a superstore near you.
You save one, maybe two and they may live happily ever after but what about the rest of them? what about the next unnatural creation that will be made. Because if it is one thing us humans do not do it is learn from out mistakes.
the moral of the story is amazing and looking at both sides works wonders for young kids, and adults but and that is were the problem lies, BUT. what about the other ‘superpigs’ what happens to them who takes care of them as Okja is taken care of because, let us not forget that this girl did not begin this journey to save all the ‘superpigs’ hell she didnt even look at what was happening and yes she was just a pawn in a bigger story but as soon as she got her Okja back that was it she was happy and the story ended. As amazing as the story became and interesting. More, more could of been given a clear outline statement.
you plant a seed but you do not water it. you leave it and hope that the seed will be watered by the person watching it.
