There are many ways a singular placement can express and that depends on the consciousness of the individual. we are not doomed by ‘malefic’ aspects, if anything, they can act as triggers that initiate growth and evolution. Similarly, ‘benefic’ aspects can give rise to complacency. How a placement manifests is not isolated from the individual, it is determined by how the individual works with and responds to those energies, and that is something that will fluctuate over the course of their lifespan.

The Sun is your self, the Moon is the higher state of consciousness that allows you to observe and reflect on that; it’s how you feel about yourself and see yourself. If it were just the Sun you would be living fairly primitively in the sense that your life would be very instantaneous, present and impulsive. If you were just self/ ego you wouldn’t be aware of that because you would be completely involved within it. The moon is the reflective body that cast shadows and offers contrast, it allows us to observe the ego. The Sun is the self, the Moon is our self-image.

"But meet [Pisces] in later life, and all the compassion and wisdom which come from having seen the seamy side of just about everything yield a glow and a richness, which is far more meaningful than the unshaped marble which Pgymalion sees in her late teens and early twenties. In this, the last of the signs, the Wise Woman emerges-- with all the instinctual wisdom... and human insights of her sign. Often she is almost mediumistic, preferring to shelter herself from life because this gift is so dubious and so difficult to bear. There is also more than a touch of the witch in Pisces.... Never underestimate her, because she may be inarticulate or reluctant to explain herself. Neptune is an enigmatic god; to love him is to love the ocean, for all its moods and changes, its anger and its peacefulness, its destruction and its beauty."

Transit Sun in the Houses
Sun transiting 1st house:
While the Sun is transiting your first house, you experience a rebirth and the beginning of a new cycle. From the previous month’s exploration into the subconscious aspects of yourself, the time spent in and insight gained through solitude, as well as the process of releasing your vices, you are now more self-assured and free to be who you are. In this time, there is a greater emphasis on self: self-exploration, self-expression and self-actualisation. This transit brings light to your behaviour and perceptual being to others. You exude warmth, power and vitality and will be noticed more by the public as a result. You can be more outgoing and communicative, with a desire for your opinions to be heard and with the added authority and presence of this transit, this will be the case. Under this transit you can experience a heightened amount of energy, particularly in the area of who you are. You will have a desire to go out more and be seen by the world. You want to be a part of something ‘more than’ and special.
Sun transiting the 2nd house:
While the Sun is travelling through the second house, your life slows down and you experience the self as a steady and secure concept. Throughout this time, you may be inclined to spend money on material items that are seen as an extension of yourself, and items that add something to you. There is an emphasis on discovering yourself in the tangible world through material things. You may have an increased desire for stability and security, particularly by placing a greater importance on money and income than usual. In this time, you may be inclined to take better care of yourself through pampering or relaxing, you can enjoy the finer things in life and evaluate your values and self-worth. This is a time when you don’t want to settle and are blessed with the patience and perseverance to wait and attract your desires.
Sun transiting 3rd house:
Throughout this month, your energy will be directed in 3rd house matters, like: communicating, learning and exploring your close surrounds. This is a time in which you are extra curious, so much so, that you cannot be committed to just one task; rather, you will follow your momentary curiosity into vast and broad areas. This time can also indicate you being more chatty than usual; your newfound interest can be extended to those around you, whether that be siblings or strangers, you will find yourself in more small talk than usual. You will also be more resourceful and of greater mental dexterity, though your interests will be continuously waxing and waning, there will be constancy in your desire to know, explore the mental sphere and expand the intellect.
Sun transiting 4th house:
This is a time of inner exploration for you. In this time, you will place greater focus on finding your place in the world and finding where you belong, particularly by establishing roots and security. To find this place of belonging you will explore your ancestry and your past experiences. You will want to understand yourself by delving into the psyche and the unconscious. This can be a time when you are focused on your subjectivity – how you feel, your intuition, and your emotion centre. This can be a period of exploring psychological roots and your childhood experiences to better understand the person you are now and help you grow into the future. It is possible that in this period, you will focus on establishing a home and creating a more secure life. You want to make your place in the world and can make more of an effort to initiate emotional connections with your family and close friends. However, this is typically a quiet time in your life when you can be more sensitive to the energies of the outside world, and thus, retreat and protect yourself from them.
Sun transiting the 5th house:
The Sun travelling through its home house brings a positive influence into your life. Following a month of solitude and exploring the psyche, this transit brings a more extroverted and lively energy up to the world. This is a fun month for you and will see an increase in your joy for life. You will be more inspired by the world around you, and in turn, be more creative. You will want to self-express during this time and focus more of your energy on your hobbies. This can also be a period where you are in tune with your inner child, following the enquiry into past experiences, this can be a rebirth with you emerging with a new lease on life, possibly: the good life is the life of pleasure. You will spend more time in flow, within this period, that is: becoming lost in the present experience while doing an activity that brings you joy and makes you feel like something greater is unfolding. This is a time when you want to go out, meet others and enjoy life; there can be romantic flings, spontaneous activities, an increased social life and more social gatherings to attend. Overall, this is a time of year when you will focus on what brings happiness into your life, and in turn, will be a positive force that draws others to you.
Sun transiting the 6th house:
With the Sun illuminating your house of work, health and productivity, you will find these areas becoming more conscious to you and will then exert your energy on these issues. In this time, you may get so wrapped up in your daily routine that you lose sight of the big picture or what you are working towards. You focus on the details and can be more analytical and observant. Within this transit, you will often find that you are more of service to others; that could be either: helping them with their day to day lives, or you are receiving more work at your workplace to assist them. This typically is a selfless time of which you need to be reliable and dependable for others. Although, under this transit you can place a greater importance on your own health, this could be a result of health issues that have come to light, or rather you becoming more self-critical and perfectionistic. Regardless, there will be a greater focus on your daily routine, and perhaps will be less time to spend on yourself during this period. This can be a good time build up a skill, or tediously work toward something that offers tangible results, like: cleaning, making repairs, or home improvements. Ultimately, this a time when you focus on bringing order to your daily life and creating a well-run routine.
Sun transiting the 7th house:
This transit brings light to your one on one relationships. You have a greater desire to share your ideas with another and discover yourself through your relationships. You want to explore life through another person’s perspective, and are now more open to balancing and harmonising yourself with another. You are more compromising and diplomatic in this period and are more willing to see life from another’s perspective. Within this time, you have a greater desire to be close with someone and a more open to the idea of a long-term relationship. It is likely under this transit that someone will come into your life. This is also a time where you can be more attractive to others, they will be drawn to you because you can harmonise, balance and understand them; as well as exuding charisma, confidence and magnetism in your realm of partnerships.
Sun transiting the 8th house:
This transit indicates a time of transformation. This is a time when you desire actual change, and are willing to release anything that makes you feel out of control of your life. In this period, you are able to scrutinise your psychological make-up and focus on self-betterment. You are transmuting the energy of and shifting the perspective you have on the emotional baggage that you’ve held on to. By alchemising this baggage, you are also healing your self-destructive tendencies. This transit can also indicate intimacy with another, or the meeting of someone that changes your life and evolves you. There could be more of an emphasis on joint resources or your taxes. Regardless, whatever occurs within this period enables you to evolve, better yourself and tune into your own power. While at first this may appear as a destructive time in your life, that conflict is needed to create the desire to change and rise above it, reborn and revitalised.
Sun transiting the 9th house:
This transit often comes with a feeling of freedom and liberation as you have just stepped out of 8th house terrain. This is a time when you learn about yourself through the world and your life experiences. Through these experiences you develop a belief system or life philosophy. This can be a time where you want to write or teach, you want to show the world what you have learnt and how they can do so to. You will or want to travel under this transit, particularly for educational purposes and to gain a greater awareness of the cultures around you. You will have an increased desire for freedom and will now see spontaneity as serendipity. You look for the higher meaning in the world around you and find lessons in everyday life. If you do not travel under this transit, you will explore the mind, this can be a time where you begin or exert more energy on higher education. At this time, you will experience who you are more through what you know and what you believe, and can in turn, become more self-assured and confident in your opinions.
Sun transiting the 10th house:
With the Sun travelling through the career house of the horoscope, you will exert more of your energy in working towards what you want to achieve, becoming clear on what legacy you want to impart on the world and who you want to become. This is a productive and future-orientated time when you work rigorously on getting to where you want to be. You can achieve success and assistance from others, perhaps by being offered a job that is, or is one step closer to your career goals. Under this transit, you will make real-world, practical advancements in your life that get you to where you aspire to be. Or, alternatively, the work that you have put in previously is now offering you tangible results.
Sun transiting 11th house:
This month you will exert a great amount of energy in the realm of thought, particularly in: your ideas of the future, your goals, and how you will progress. This is also a time of connecting with others and being a part of something greater. You will discover like-minded people under this transit, or even find that you will be around people more often and enjoy that. This is a month of increased socialising with people respecting your ideas, knowledge and individuality. Throughout this transit, you will want to detach from societal roles and be liberated from any box that you or others have put you in. You can even attract people who are unconventional and learn more about yourself through the groups you find yourself in.
Sun transiting 12th house:
This will be a month of seclusion for you. You will explore your subconscious and inner world within this time and gain insight. This can be a time of rejuvenation and revaluation before the Sun moves through your first house. In this case, this can be a month of sacrifices and letting things go that no longer serve you; this can be in the form of: material items, emotional baggage, or subconscious patterns and complexes that cause you undoing. Thus, this month your energy can be directed to healing, perhaps through spirituality and your connection with the unseen realms. Because of this connection to that which is unseen, you can also experience a heightened intuition; and by utilising this gift, alongside your new found sight in the hidden, you can gain clarity on what is sabotaging you from your optimal self-expression.

“The Ascendant may be the way we hatch, but what we grow into is the Sun sign. In other words, the Ascendant is the path leading to the Sun...Or, as Liz Greene expresses it, the Sun is the kind of Hero we are, but the Ascendant is the quest on which we must embark. The Sun is why we are here, the Ascendant is how we get there.”

The Sun in the 6th house’s drive to achieve isn’t motivated by status like the Sun in the 10th house, or wealth and security like the Sun in the 2nd, or fame like the 1st or 5th house, but rather to meet their own high standards and appease their own inner critic.

“I think everything in life is art. What you do. How you dress. The way you love someone, and how you talk. Your smile and your personality. What you believe in, and all your dreams. The way you drink your tea. How you decorate your home. Or party. Your grocery list. The food you make. How your writing looks. And the way you feel. Life is art.”

When transit Venus travels through the 12th house we are called to learn about nonattachement and surrender in regards to Venusian domains. This period may begin as a series of losses that bring us suffering; for example, money seems to go out as quickly as it comes in, or our romantic interest is not showing any interest in us, or our self-worth is at an all time low, or we’ve been overindulging in our vices and feel a loss of self-regulation. This period is teaching us to surrender and transcend the boundaries of our wants, desires, materiality, and superficial beauty, and to reevaluate our values. After this time of deep introspection, when Venus enters the first house we experience a shift in our relationship with self and bring to our awareness our true values. This shift gives us a new found freedom and peace within relationships for we have learnt to go with the flow and accept what is meant for us; but more importantly, we have transcended our egoic desires and ideals. Paradoxically, when we adopt this mentality there is something more beautiful about us, and others will be drawn to our harmonious, peaceful, and integrated nature when Venus moves into the first house.

“The Sun is progressive. It is an active, dynamic principle which unfolds during the course of a lifetime...This aspect of the personality is always in the process of becoming, of moving toward some future vision or goal. Solar goals are innate, and are concerned with self-realisation and experiencing one’s life as special and meaningful.”

Jupiter is typically known as a great benefic planet where we have natural gifts, are lucky, and things come easily to us. However, in evolutionary astrology, it is believed that where Jupiter is in our charts is where we greatly underestimate ourselves. Because of this, what we do in the house of our Jupiter is nowhere near what we are capable of doing or realising. Jupiter is the planet of growth and expansion, it constantly wants to become bigger and gain more experience. However, when things come easily to us - like with harmonious aspects - we don’t try and don’t put in the effort because we don’t think we need to. The house of our Jupiter requires effort, for if we just go with the flow and relish in Jupiter’s natural gifts we will not grow and expand. In turn, we stagnate, and we don’t fulfil our potential for growth and wisdom in that area.

When your Solar Return chart is compatible with your natal chart, you will feel more harmonious and integrated for that year; and will feel comfortable and secure within yourself. Whereas, when your have a solar return chart that conflicts with your natal chart, you will find yourself continuously pushed outside of your comfort zone, and will feel more tension and discomfort within yourself. However, in those conflicting years, you also expand and explore different facets of yourself that had not been available to you previously. In these years, alternate and dormant traits become magnified in the solar return chart, and show the areas that you will begin to accommodate within your personality, and that you will work on evolving and integrating into.
