I'm alive so far. Thank you. Internet has mostly been virtually completely shut-off in the entire country. I rarely have access. If at all. I can't post updates everywhere due to this. In Iran, civilians don't have safe houses or bunkers of any sort. Innocent civilians can only hope to be lucky and not live near targets of Israel so the explosions don't affect them. I'm saying this because some friends of mine have told me to go to safe places. There are none.

Internet access is very limited for us rn. Don't have access to most stuff most of the time. If I can, I'll try to post updates on my situation. So far, everything is on going. Hoping they don't hit the same area twice. Maybe that's a silver lining for me and my family's safety.

I saw in person what happened in the alley near us. Due to the nature of the explosions, there are also civilian casualties. Neighbors. Houses across the street. Etc. There are also innocent civilians who die, even if one person is the target. A lot of people on the outside seem to not understand that. The politics of this are complicated. I currently don't care about that. I am sad innocents are dying. I can be sad about that. And I can be afraid for me and my family. The human aspect isn't complicated. At all. I'm fucking sad and afraid. No matter what your politics are, it's factually not only the targets that get hurt. Way more people who aren't targets have been killed. I'm fucking sad and scared. It's not complicated.

I live in Iran. Israel has hit literally a few blocks away from where I live. Many innocent civilians have lost their lives and families.

My life is in danger as well. Like many of my people.

Today I witnessed my grandpa's passing.

I need to write this so that if I seem like I'm not available, you know the reason. I also want to share this publicly because speaking about it with people who know about my life to any extent feels like something that might help me emotionally right now.

I woke up alone in the house and checked on him to give him lunch. He wasn't breathing. His heart wasn't beating. He was kinda gray. I called his name. He didn’t answer. I shouted his name while I hit him hard across his shoulders. Still nothing.

I called the local helpline and followed the steps they gave me—chest compressions and CPR. The medics arrived and continued CPR for about 40 minutes. They confirmed his death.

I still can’t shake the smell of his dead body from my nose. I even gagged. This was my first time witnessing someone die. My first time touching a dead body. I saw the last bit of air leave his lungs while I was doing compressions.

My family is going to be in a very dark place, and I’m going to be surrounded by heavy grieving energy for at least a week, I think. I’m feeling like I’m in a funk mentally.

I hope he rests in peace.

I never grew up with fandoms. Never even been exposed to any. I grew up watching my fav YouTubers, shows, and playing games without taking part in any community stuff. It's just mostly how I am able to consume stuff—in my own bubble. Just how my brain is.

After becoming a VA, especially with my role in OL, I wanted to interact with the people who enjoy the projects I'm in, and I used that as an opportunity to witness the beautiful work of amazing artists I never would have otherwise. I became a fan of some and started enjoying any art they create—about any subject whatsoever. And sometimes, I even got to know some and find out how cool they are as people (shout-out to @shrxxpy @minthe-drawings @Monarch_Chimera —twtr, to name a few). ✿

And the reason I'm focusing on artists in this post and not fanfic writing is simply because my brain can't properly process super structured writing in an enjoyable way if I'm consuming it solely in text form (unless in specific moods). At least, that's how it is currently.

To anyone's creations I've gotten the opportunity to enjoy, in any fandom, due to this VA journey of mine—thank you for expressing your range of emotions, heart, intellect, and personality through what you create. You are a key part of what it means to be human.
