Used African art museum's flier, Sake(Japanese liquor)labels, label of baggage (Dar es Slam to Addis Ababa), Ethiopian post card, Tanzanian tea box package, Tanzanian beer label, and photo of my house in Tanzania. Those are my sweet memories.

Poster Design

I got job offer to design a poster for an event which's a session with nature, especially plants along a demonstration by a spacial producer Mieko.

JT-Cispo

It is one of Jamlien Tools(JT-) for sewing.

I imitated to make a Cispo which's needles case using by Ainu people.

I'm inspired by their embroidery and culture and this way of carrying needles. I used a piece of African fabric, random thread, Japanese old coin and buffalo horn.

チシポはアイヌの針入れ、真似して作ってみたよ。

彼らの刺繍、文化、そして針を持ち運ぶという行為にリスペクト。

素材は、アフリカの端切れに適当な糸と古い50円玉(少し大きい)そして水牛のツノでできた筒。

Obi remake 2 / 尾美 其の二

破れたアウトドアチェアの修繕依頼を受けて、また帯を縫い付けてみました

帯は生地が硬く、派手派手しいので服や鞄にリメイクは向きませんが、アウトドアにはもってこいです。生地はしっかりして主張があっていいですね。

脇は黒い生地を持ってきましたが、物足りないので紐を縫い付けて装飾しました。

既存の製品というのは機械生産で作りやすさ重視なので、修理やリメイクがしにくいのが難点で、フレームはバラバラにならないので、最後は手縫いでつけました。でもそれがかえって良い味を出してます。

I got offer to repair this ripped outdoor chair.

Obi is thick and outstanding that is why it is not good for remaking it as clothing and goods. But it is better for the outdoor stuffs. Because it is tough and unique.

Both side I put plain black cloth but something is missing, so I sew and put thick strings as decoration.

Industrial products made by machine and mechanic process that is why it is difficult to remake and repair by human being. This frame could’t re structure then I sewed remade fabric on chair by hand that actually makes it better looking.

Anagram Remake / アナグラリメイク

I was trying to remake clothing that a T-shirts faded the color but I still love the design (not include letters). Then I cut out letters and design to patched them on a long sleeve. As I was into anagram to replace letters to make new words or phrases.

what do you think GRAD CAYON will be ?

お気に入りのTシャツが色褪せたのでリメイクして救おう！まずデザインとグランドキャニオンの文字を切り抜く。ちょうどアナグラムにもハマっていたのでGRAND CANYONを並び替えたよ。

looks like you can’t understand what I wanted to tell. Don’t worry I’m gonna explain.

First of all I really love Indian foods like Naan and curry. You know what if you kept took out naan, it will be dried and hard to bite. And it’s ON Computer Graphics that means it isn’t real.

To be honest I didn’t even understand the meaning but the same time I can’t stand a naan is dried. Please tell me it isn’t reality !

ちょっと意味わかんないよね、説明します。

まずインド料理が大好物なんだな、ナーンとカレーとかね。そうナンではなくて正確にはナーンだよ。そしてテイクアウトしたナーンをほっとくと乾いて固くなってしまう、ドライナーンの出来上がり。でそれがCGだっていうんだ、コンピューターグラフィックの略だよ、現実じゃないってこと。

正直いうと、こじつけだけどね、乾いたナーンなんて信じられないってことだね。

Exhibition 22' 27.28 Aug

I had a joint exhibition with my family mom, dad and even our dog !

Mom displayed all her weaving and sewing works.

Dad showed his felt hats and goods.

Our clever dog, she is always picking rocks up by her mouth and we displayed them. 

And me, I had some installations like :painting, tacking (collage and scrap), altar,   sewing & weaving and my Tanzania journey.

The space I used was about 1a and I knew that was perfectly fit to exhibit my works. The surface of Tatame (Japanese traditional flooring material) made them look better.

母は今まで織ったものや仕立てた服などを展示して

父はフェルトの帽子や小物を

そしてうちのワンコが集めた石(割とデカくて重い)を並べた

自分はインスタレーションを何個か手掛けまして、ペイント、タッキング(コラージュやスクラップ)、祭壇、ソーイングに織り、そして今年のタンザニア紀行についてのコーナを設けました。

今回使った空間の大きさは60畳、これがちょうど作品を並べるのに良いサイズで、この畳がまた作品を引き立ててくれました。

Japanese Bone /  和骨

I made stage set for music live that played by aka Yakanzuru who called Kuma-chan is bakery and plays many African instruments. Good sounds.

I used structure or bone of Japanese traditional doors and fusuma sliding to remake. Tried to embody Japanese and African moods.

ステージセットを音楽ライブ用に作りました。演奏はYakanzuru ことクマさん、チェチェメニというパン屋さんでアフリカの楽器を多用。良いライブでした。

しょうじなど建具の骨を再工作して製作、和の要素とアフリカンな雰囲気を醸し出したつもり。

Obi remake / 尾美

きみが帯をリメイクするとしたらどんな形にするかい？

俺なら柄を切り抜いてキャンプ椅子につけるね。

最近は和服も着なくなったし、着るのも大変てよく聞くね

だから仕舞われっぱなしの和服が日本には溢れてるらしい、しかもほぼデットストック状態。そんな服たちがはるばるやって来た。

帯の光沢が好き、時代が変わっても輝いてるstay goldってやつだね。椅子の足の幾何��とも相まって惹かれるし畳の上に映える。美しい尻尾置き(椅子)で尾美ってどお？先人達とのコラボだぜぃ。

How do you remake an Obi which is a large sash used in traditional Japanese clothing ? 

For me I cut out the patterns and put them on an outdoor chair.

There are numerous Japanese traditional clothing (wafuku) in the closets as almost deadstock. And they came to me.

I like the brilliances of them that even shines today. It says me stay gold. The geometric structure of chair and the patched patterns attract me. It is a fusion of ancestral idea and present technics.

Jamming Match/マッチ

About FIRE: Fire is the key of evolution that the controlled use of fire was invented by  Homo Erectus in Stone Age.  How helpful is that ! Protect us from wild animals, variety of cooking and preservation. 

How do you light up the incense ? Lighter ? Noway, I chose Match because I has more vibes !

First of all, match is cool as analog record jacket and that box could be a small container.

Match provides perfect temperature for burning somethings that serve scents. If you are smoker you know the differences of taste between lighter and match.Incense as well !

And personally, it is like pocketable campfire. Burning sounds, spark, the smell, extinguishing motion and more. It brings memories. I remember every birthday my family light up the candles on the cake. So the memories comes up when I smell the smoke of match. 

I designed match box after incense that there is no smoke without fire literally I thought. 

No match no incense. I named “THE EARTH” on the match that was dedication for the Earth. Give thanks for being here on it. There are balances and I represent masculinity and femininity, day and night, negative and positive through shapes and colors. You can find more.

Grip Tape Scrap 5

This time I put album jackets us usual and made a space to show dyed deck  surface. Cuz it is beautiful blue you know I need the sea.

From now the work of putting favorite album jackets on griptape became a part of Jamlien work called “Jamlien Record” 

About these two jackets, top is the legend African reggae artist Lucky Dube that I taught by Tanzanian friends. And last is also legend artist Gil Scott-Heron his hair and beard are cool. 

Better to listen them !

グリップテープスクラップ　その五

今回はいつもの様にアルバムジャケットをくっ付け、板の表面を出してみた色が綺麗だったからね。

これよりこのアルバムをグリップに貼るワークを Jamlien の Jamlien Record としました。

アルバムについては上が Lucky Dube というアフリカで有名なレゲエアーティストでタンザニアの友達に教えてもらったんだ。下のは Gil Scott-Heron 髪と髭が良いね、どっちも聞いてみてね。

MONKEY SUMMER VACATION

Me and my friends made new incense. As one of Jamlien works the incense. This time as collaboration  of JAMLIEN and RUFF which is a brand me and my friends do. We wanted come out something and decided to make incense as my direction. My friend drew these images by color pencils and i scan and digitalize them. 

The smell we made vibes of tropical place we take vacation as space odyssey. So we put bit sweetness of coconut  and fresh basil and citrus essences like limes that give us relaxation even put CBD oil into it as well. 

I place the images on the package with care to keep texture of the pencil and I wrote our brand story on the inside that monkeys(us) went to space odyssey as brand concept stress-free space life because we blasted off the Earth at first by rocket. And that smoke of fuel was the smoke of our incense you know.

友達と新しいお香を作りました。Jamlien の活動の一環としてあるお香を今回RUFF(友達とやっているブランド) とのコラボレーションと称してお香を作ってみることにしました。活動も停滞していたので何か出したいねと決めたことで今回のデザインは友達による色鉛筆画でそれをスキャンで取り込みデジタル化しました。

香りは南国のバイブスでほんのりと甘いココナッツに爽やかなバジルとライムなどの柑橘類のエッセンスを加えCBDオイルも足したリラックスを目的としています。

自分は色鉛筆画のアイコンたちの配置とパッケージの内側にブランドの物語を書き入れました。猿(自分たち)は宇宙旅行に行っていてブランドコンセプトでもあるストレスフリーな宇宙生活というのがあって元々初めに地球からロケットで飛び立っちゃっているのでね。でその燃やした燃料が今回のお香ってことなのさ。分かるだろ煙しか残さなかったんだ。
