"Crappy" Beer vs "Fancy" Beer
“Crappy” Beer vs “Fancy” Beer
2-star Michelin chef David Chang (soucre: Wikipedia)
“I hate fancy beer“, writes 2-star Michelin chef David Chang in a recent article for the GQ Magazine and adds: “shitty beer [...] pairs really well with food. All food. Think about how well champagne pairs with almost anything. Champagne is not a flavor bomb! It’s bubbly and has a little hint of acid and tannin and is cool and crisp and…

Gordon Finest Titanium
In order not to spam my Insta-followers with beer pics, I've chosen to only post this pic here, and just post the beers I strongly recommend on IG. Albeit, this is not one of them. One of the beers I strongly recommend, that is. I picked it up at a local El Corte Inglés store in Fuengirola, Spain, and curiosity got the better of me. I like strong beers, I secretly believe a lot of alcohol is needed to give the beer body and that beers low on alcohol tend to be, well, watery. So, I saw this beer in the shelves, 14% ABV, and Bam!, you were mine!
This particular beer - from the John Martin Brewery in Belgium - is anything but watery. But still not a great beer. Too much sugar. And way too much alcohol. In some of the great Belgium, alcohol-heavy beers, you cannot taste the alcohol at all, but is this one you can. It's like a bad brandy, the alcohol hits you in the face. And in general, it comes acrossa s too artificial.
I actually picked up two similar cans today, the other being the "Finest Chrome" from the same brewery. It is more or less the same beer, it seems to me, only with a different package and a lower alcohol percentage. The can is black, while the Titanium is silvery (or, chrome, actually). And the Chrome is "only" 10,5% ABV. Sad to say, I find this beer quite similar, just as sugary and artificial as the "Titanium", but with less alcohol.
The first but also the last cans of these beers that will make it to my fridge.
Shit,I'm tipsy!!

SoundCloud reaches 5 million users
Launched in 2008, the the social audio platform SoundCloud founded by the Swedes Alexander Jung and Eric Wahlforss just reached 5 million users. The news was made known in the SoundCloud blog on 15 June, where an infographic was posted showing the explosive growth of the cloud service.
According to Jung, 4 million of the users have signed up in the last year alone, and the user base grew from 2 million to 3 million in a span of only 97 days. The news was celebrated along with an undisclosed amount of funding from the A-Grade Fund, the venture capital fund led by actor Ashton Kutcher, artist manager/entrepreneur Guy Oseary and billionaire investor Ron Burkle. Earlier this year the company raised $10 million from Index Ventures and Union Square Ventures.
Ljung attributes the recent growth of SoundCloud to the wide variety of content on the site that extends beyond popular music. First intended for professional musicians, the service has grown to include uploads by people who share their audio tweets, bird sounds or radio shows. “On the music side, people know they can get audio, but we need the outreach to let universities know they can upload their lectures, to let politicians upload their speeches and news outlets to share broadcasts,” Ljung told The New York Times.
SoundCloud recently announced that you can now record and share on-the-fly on your tumblr blog any audio captured on your smartphone using the SoundCloud app for iOS or Android, which could guarantee the service mainstream status.

Twitter Meaningless?
In an article for TechCrunch (http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/08/17/why-i-dont-use-twitter/), Devin Coldewey lists the reasons for why he doesn't use Twitter. "Tweets have no value" he suggests, and continues to say that a tweet is "a quantity of data which I believe to be useless, at least in this context. What can be said in 140 characters is either trivial or abridged; in the first case it would be better not to say it at all, and in the second case it would be better to give it the space it deserves." What do you think?
