Kenrokuen (兼六園) in Kanazawa is known as one of Japan's "three most beautiful landscape gardens" along with Mito's Kairakuen and Okayama's Korakuen. The Tadami Line (只見線, Tadami-sen) is a railway line in Japan operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East). It connects Aizu-Wakamatsu Station in Aizuwakamatsu, Fukushima with Koide Station in Uonuma, Niigata and is known for its scenic views. Jigokudani Monkey Park is a park inhabited by macaques monkeys also known as snow monkeys. Here, you can watch monkeys bathing in the hot springs during Winter, which is when this park is most famous. The park has one man-made pool, located a few minutes from the park enterance, where the monkeys gather. Accostumed to humans, the monkeys can be observed from up close and ignore the watching guests. There's a small information center in the park to teach visitors about the monkey troop and the alpha male system. The Sapporo Snow Festival is an annual festival held over seven days in February in Sapporo City Hokkaido. There are three main sights and over 7 million people visit this festival. There are hundreds of snow statues and ice sculptures situated around these three sights. 14 teams from around the world every year compete against each other to win the snow statue competition. The subject of the statues vary and are usually based on some event or something of importance that happened the year before. Past giant sculptures have included Star Wars, Shingeki no Kyojin and famous buildings worldwide. It's so popular that the Vocaloid Miku has a snow Miku version released every year. Goshogake-Tamagawa Onsen trail is situated in Akita in the Towada-Hachimantai National Park. This course combines driving and walking between four short trails. Each trail takes between 30-50 minutes and allows you to observe mud volcanos, hot springs and other volcanic phenomenon. If you want to spend the night , along with hotels that have their own onsens, you can camp in various spots throughout the park. On clear days you can catch a view of Mt. When you go to a Japanese convenience store you'll come across these plastic pouches with twist off taps in the refrigerated section. What are they? These pouches are usually fruit flavored. Many of them are filled with fruit juice and konnyaku (konjac jam) which is a jelly like substance. They're low in calories and high in fiber. They're good snacks for kids, but because they usually have vitamins in them, adults sometimes use them as snacks on the go when rushing for their train, or too busy shopping to eat. Purin is a popular Japanese custard dessert. The most popular version is covered in caramel and tastes very similar to Spanish flan. However, there are other flavors, each prefecture usually coming up with their own flavor. These range from milk flavor, green tea flavor, and sometimes more interesting flavors like pumpkin and ramune (Japanese soda) depending on the season. Kakipi or Kaki no tane are a very common snack in Japan and my favorite. They're small crescent shapes rice crackers and peanuts. However, the rice crackers are coated so that they taste a bit spicy. They're most commonly eaten with beer as the saltiness from the peanuts pairs well with it. They have several different flavors, salt free, wasabi, and seasonal flavors like plum, cheese, curry, and more. They even have chocolate covered ones. Black Thunder (ブラックサンダー is a Japanese candy bar containing a cocoa flavored cookie mixed with Japanese style rice puffs. Their main advertising slogan translates as 'Delicious taste in a flash of lightning.' In japanese, this makes sense as the word for lightening and thunder is the same. They were first made in Tohashi in 1994 and the target audience was college students. It became so popular that in 2008, they were able to sponser the Men's Gymnastics team. You can buy Black Thunder in any convenience store and almost any supermarket. Girlfriend, Girlfriend is a Japanese romantic comedy manga. It has been serialized since 2020, and has since been compiled into seven volumes. An anime series aired from July to September 2021. The series follows Naoya Mukai, who has just begun a relationship with childhood friend Saki Saki. Nagisa Minase, his classmate, decides to confess her feelings to him as well, and he accepts her request to also be her boyfriend. As Naoya currently lives alone due to his parents living elsewhere for work, Saki and Nagisa decide to live with him.
