OBGYN Rotation has kicked my butt these first 2 weeks not gonna lie but I like it ! I’m learning, I’m becoming more confident I’m making mistakes, In fact everyday feels like I’m just trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Every specialty has their own lingo, their own way of caring for patients it’s crazy . And OBGyns do ALOT their surgeons, primary care and emergency Med all in one! My struggles have been : 1. Trying to figure out how to fit all my fouxloc dreads into a bonnet (I use two now) 2. trying figure how to make myself useful in the OR before surgery- during surgery isn’t the problem it’s helping out before hand without being in the way and slowing them down or worse contaminating the sterile field, which I’ve done! During the surgery is easy they’ll tell you want to do. 3. Being annoyed at meetings where we don’t know the purpose of or what people are even talking about 4. How to Write a progress notes and H&Ps for different residents and different types of patients ! 5. Building rapport with a patient that doesn’t speak the same language and using an interpreter / learning Spanish in general 6. Knowing when it’s time to eat - my body and mind completely fail me when I’m hungry- y’all the other day instead of heading to lunch I thought I’d see one more patient, y’all I presented the wrong patient to my resident, i think I did a prenatal exam on a lady who wasn’t even pregnant 🤦🏾♀️ I walked into the wrong room after I grabbed her chart and didn’t check her name !!! 6. Learning to be confident during your presentation even if you don’t know what’s wrong with the patient your going to give your best shot and make a plan based on the info you’ve gathered ! ! . . . #obgyn #obgynlife #futureobgyn #naturalbirth #womenshealth #rotations #medschool #ms3 #rossuniversityschoolofmedicine #rusm #medschoolproblems #obstetrics (at Silver Spring, Maryland) https://www.instagram.com/p/BukbVnJhw10/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=192p6tachd440

S.T.E.M. - Science Technology Engineering and Math !! Y’all know I am passionate about STEM and it’s so awesome to be in the moment of women supporting each other as scientists AND women! Consider joining 500womenscientist.org where you can register as a female scientist (or a woman in medicine) so that politicians, journalist and the like can use women to consult , as keynote speakers, conduct article reviews etc. because most of the time these are voices are predominately men! So go register so that more of the voices in science and medicine can be women! #women’smarch #cleanenergy #womeninscience #stem #science #medical #ecologist #biologist https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs6iuCphouO/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=813pkksetzz8

First photo, last day of IMF clinic, second photo first day of IMF Clinic . we learned so much and gained a family in Miami! I’m so thankful for being placed at my pulmonology clinic where I was deemed “crackle queen” because I could hear all the crackles and wheezes 😏i got a pretty good view into working as a specialist and we got so many opportunities to work closely with all our patients in managing their care. I learned from our wonderful preceptor but also our patients who were such beautiful people! We will be the last group rotating with private practices as Ross will now be moving all of IMF to Cleveland Clinic Florida! Which will be great too, I’ve visited the facility and it is really nice and everyone seems to truly enjoy their experience there! So to the next batch of IMF Rossies good luck!!! And. Bye bye Florida here I come Washington DC! #rossuniversity #medschoollife #ms3 #pulmonology #lungs #clinics #privatepractice #internalmedicine (at Miami Gardens, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/BrwOiIzBp0j/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1tv1zzw6xixdu

I had a very rough week and decided to make a huge change for the sake of my studying plan on posting a video today if you’ve started following my humble little channel! About to take some Uworld practice test. Remember to remind your myself, oops I mean yourself, of your test strategy and keep the same methodology for each question. If you think clearly through each question you can access more of your knowledge instead of just freaking out and choosing answers in an emotional “desperate” state. That’s not accessing your true knowledge. Calm down and answer each question slow and steady but efficiently. Don’t race through but don’t linger and wonder if you have already come up with an answer choice either! Sorry for giving myself a pep talk on instagram this morning because that’s all this was haha!! Emm k let’s get it! #usmlestep1 #testprep #medicalschool #test #tips #medschoolprobs #selftalk #positivevibes #praybefore #studygram #inspo https://www.instagram.com/p/BnLzI9RgIN1/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=6k87r972x8ww

I know it’s cray cray but I hope just “seeing” where everything comes together is helpful and I could never find a schematic online that had everything I needed. But here it goes! Hope it helps and doesn’t give you slight seizures or make you go run away from Biochem! Which is one of my favorite subjects in medschool! I know throw the tomatoes at me I don’t care! 🍅🍅🍅 🙆🏾♀️ . . . Also can I just say that I think the names of these diseases, although unfortunate I know are my favorite to say like von gierke and McArdle’s shout to my friend. @_corey.diem_ as I use her as a mnemonic for cori’s disease. She’s cute petite shorter height and you get short branches of glycogen that build up ! sorry Corey I though I’d come clean! 😍😂🙊 . . I also added some of my original notes with some more detail jic. my original glycolysis sheet i don’t even know if it’s legible because it’s so worn out but I still use it ! Lol but draw these over and over✏️. Got these from some YouTube videos- lower extremity nerve innervation and the parasympathetic and sympathetic ganglions but I terms of anatomy and embryology (which I working on some fun posts about🤗) , someone asked how to review those topics specifically for the comp exam: Read the first few pages of each system in First Aid and listen to boards and beyond videos that go with it, focusing on the congenital malformations and the anatomy attached to them. know the brachial plexus and it’s injuries and the arms and leg nerves and arterials and veins and the INJURies that go with them not just the names but the presentation ! Memorize pg 97 the lymphatic drainage and go to repro and read and “memorize” those charts in the repro section with the arches brachial clefts, that stuff pg 594-609 they will ask a question from page 607 uterine blood flow( they did on both my exams) and , 601-603 know cold (FA 2018) DITs video called embryology in the basic part, all their embryology videos for each system. I like boards and beyond to supplement my first aid reading for anatomy! DIT helps to memorize things because they review it and have those Lewis notes!!! I also go on YouTube and find videos where people have a system to memorize it I like this one for the aortic arches it matches anatomy and embryo it’s a 2 for 1 ! And this is “cut throat” pass comp the first time and I haven’t studied during the semster style of reviewing 😉 Of course you could be more thorough but I talk in this way because you only have time to watch videos and move on ya know 🤷🏾♀️. https://youtu.be/M1-LOHHEmwY #usmleprep #medschoolnotes #anatomy #embrology #nbme (at Knoxville, Tennessee) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bmn6IekgET5/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1dvvr1gcx0oet

I’ve officially passed my National Board of Medical Examiners® (NBME) Comprehensive Basic Science Exam (CBSE)!! The exam that Caribbean medical students must pass in order to take USMLE STEP 1. It’s a crazy exam and our school doesn’t really give us enough time to study for it when we are required to take it the first time. I missed passing it by 1 point my first attempt! So if you don’t pass it the first time don’t worry you can take it again and it’s not unusual! So I’m happy right now, time to celebrate before I get back to business Sunday after church! Lol! P.S. -Always call to follow up with your school if your not hearing back about something because I wouldn’t have received my scores today if I didn’t call. They claimed they sent them Wednesday and had to resend them! 🙄😂 I’ll also post some videos and posts on things that helped me study! #usmle #carribeanmedschool #medschool #medschoolblog (at Charlotte, North Carolina)

Add highlighter to the obicularis oculi or a lighter shade, and conceal at the bottom to hide your endless nights of no sleep dark circles ! The nasalis and procerus can use a little highlighter as well if your going out on your study breaks . Highlight your frontalis, and at the bottom of your face, the three chin muscles depressor labii inferioris, depressor angulioris and the mentalis. Choose a good foundation to match your skin tone for your levator labii superioris. Countour or bronze if your running late to clinicals the zygomaticus minor and major. I like to color correct and conceal my obicularis Otis and risorius so that my smile looks fresh and flawless allowing my lipstick to pop!
