My own opinion is below the cut but I didn't want to detract from the important message in this post.

I hadn't thought much about this because I don't write or read stories with trans characters very often, both because of a limited supply and because as someone who's always been fairly comfortable with the gender label given to me by society, it doesn't resonate as much with me. I can absolutely sympathize and agree one hundred percent that there should be stories out there for people who do resonate with them, and I'll gladly cheer on both writers and readers. However I am always reluctant to say I empathize because it's not something I've gone through and I never ever want to seem like I'm diminishing, cheapening or demeaning others' experiences. Therefore I'm so glad op has said this and said it so well and in a way I think everyone can understand. Therefore I'm reblogging because it needed to be said and it's so much more genuine coming from them then it ever could be from me.

why do you hate transfem vil so much? can't you just like separate the art from the headcannons and enjoy it without thinking about it. I don't really have any headcannons but I think transfem vil is just as valid as transmac or nb or gender fluid vil (maybe it's just because I don't have any strong headcannons but idk I think all versions of a character are okay)

ill try to be as nice as possible wording this but im bad at wording things so my apologies if this still comes out aggressive sounding or something

transfem vil is a harmful hc. that's it, there's no going around it there's nothing to defend it because transfem/woman vil isn't like the the other transfem hcs for twst, his was created solely because people saw vil; a man, who acts and dresses in a "feminine way" and went "yeah okay that's a woman!" and they just kept pushing and pushing it. see from here there's nothing too bad you might think (personally; i still dislike hcs like this, but it's not like how i dislike transfem vil) the problem here lies because vil is anti gender roles, he's mentioned that himself countless times and has even gotten angry when gender roles where pushed by any character in-game, the transfem vil hc is taking a character that breaks gender roles and pushing him back into them. idk if u rlly know about the struggles of gnc trans people but ill tell u bestie it's BAD. we're constantly excluded and even harassed by members from our own community because gender roles have been pushed so deeply into their minds they can't process the fact a trans man, might want to present fem, or that a trans woman, might want to present masc. and for that, for the simple way of how we express ourselves we are constantly belittled and have our experiences as trans people invalidated, (by both cis and other trans people) a character like vil is important representation to the gnc community, both cis and trans, but since we're talking about the trans community ill be focusing on it. both transmascs and transfems have talked about their dislike to the hc and ive met more than 5 ppl say that an hc like this causes them dysphoria because it's taking away the little rep we get all for the sake of what?? pushing gender roles once again.

for more personal reasons; this hc brings me TERRIBLE dysphoria and anxiety and the people ive seen that have it have been extremely toxic and most of the time also fetishizing towards trans people which makes me extremely uncomfortable, i dislike the hc, i dislike the community around that hc and considering ive gotten harassed and even called the t slur by some ppl that have it id say that i have more than a few rights to complain about it

Riddle’s mother insisted he returned home and Professor Crewel offered demanded that you stay with him over the holidays after finding out that the cafeteria ghosts would be gone throughout the break.

If you two were still new into the relationship, Riddle was anxious over this separation, he’d never imagined a day without you, let alone a month? The sweet redhead begged you to keep in contact with him every day, no matter what.

He knew that his mother would set him a schedule filled to the minute with studies and magic practice but he managed to convince her to give him 30 minutes with his phone, in the guise of keeping updated with his dormmates as the Housewarden. He may even try to wake up a little earlier just to text you good morning

But Riddle is not the most familiar with texting slang and lingo, being the type to type out every message with proper grammar, spelling, and explanation points.

At first, he sounded like, albeit sweet, a daily weather update. Riddle once read in a book that a good conversation starter is “Nice weather we have” and just went with it.

As the days went by, Riddle has gotten more comfortable and soon the 30 minutes doesn’t seem enough for him. He wants to tell you more about his hometown (even if he couldn’t leave his home), mention how Trey and Chenya would occasionally sneak a visit, even little tidbits of something he learned from his studies you might find interesting, anything to spend time with you.

If you send him random videos you found online, Riddle would be so confused and won’t understand the humour of it but will text you it was funny just to make you happy (this precious confused child).

Whenever Riddle unintentionally texts you something sweet, Crewel gives you an exasperated look your way as your joyous gushing would startle the puppies.

But Crewel sighs with a little smile on his lips and let you be, better Riddle than those trouble-making Heartslabyul duo. At least with Grim, his trained dogs can keep him in check while the two of you are here.

Riddle is incredibly happy to be able to speak with you everyday but secretly he’s mentally counting the days when he could see you again at school.

His messages

“Good morning, Rose. Today is forecasted to be windy where you are. Be sure to stay warm”

“The cat is adorable. However, I do not understand what is a “blep”.”

“Grim was reprimanded by Crewel and his dogs for trying to steal extra snacks? Perhaps Heartslabyul should adopt a few as well”

“It’s already 2 minutes before I must get ready for sleep? It’s unfortunate but I must go for today. Good night, my love. I will greet you first thing in the morning”

Ruggie was surprised that you were going to stay with Professor Crewel this holiday break but he was going to be busy with seasonal part-time jobs anyway so he wasn’t planning on visiting you (Crewel would’ve sent his dogs on him if he did, anyway).

Due to his irregular work schedules, you couldn’t predict when Ruggie would text you. Different part-time jobs would give him different break times so you and Grim could be helping Crewel to feed his puppies and suddenly you had to hide the cute text your boyfriend sent you from a suspicious Crewel.

“Pup, who was that?”

“Just Ruggie…don’t look, it’s embarrassing!”

Ruggie may even write over-the-top lovey-dovey messages to you, partly to annoy Crewel, but mostly because he does mean them

But sometimes Ruggie would get too tuckered out to text you and would apologize for not replying as soon as he could the next day.

It’s understandable, though. Which is why you tried to text more to lift his spirits, so that everytime he opens up his messages, he reads your little motivational messages.

“Don’t forget to eat lots, my hardworking hyena! I’m so proud of you <3”

Ruggie’s coworkers won’t get a single explanation to Ruggie’s sudden burst of energy in the second half of the day, nor his wagging tail. But they can guess that is something to do with you, judging by the goofy smile the hyena beastman has on throughout his shift.

His grandmother is very aware of your presence in Ruggie’s life, not that he’s very subtle. She sees the way Ruggie gets a toothy grin so early in the morning just by looking at his phone, or the way his ears perk up when his phone vibrates.

His messages

“Mornin’, sweet lil thing. How’s life with Mr. Tall, Dark, and Grumpy? Shyehehe, wouldn’t be surprised if he gave ya some homework while ya there”

“Grandma made some of her famous donuts. When we come back, I’ll make some for ya so look forward it”

“The kids are badgering me to show ‘em the pic of ya. Even Grandma is curious! She wanna know who’s been making me so happy so…do ya mind?”

“It’s weird. Even with my work and the kids, I still feel kinda bored. I wanna see ya soon. I can’t believe that I might want school to actually open sooner”

Holidays would be a busy time for Vil. Even if he specified that he’s prioritizing his studies, he would occasionally agree to a gig or two, just to ensure he stays relevant in the business.

Funnily enough, Professor Trein offered to house you during the holidays since his wife heard that you were spending the holidays all alone in your depreciated dorm (what’s the difference with any other day, though?) and wouldn’t let that be. Both Trein and Vil live in the Shaftlands but it was still miles away from each other and with Vil’s busy life, you couldn’t really see each other over the break.

Cautious of his situation, Vil is careful with when and where he is when he’s messaging. It’s not that his agency would ever let anybody with ill intentions come close to him, but he doesn’t want to drag into this world where social vultures could harm you.

Vil’s texts are professional but always sweet and filled with concern for you. Asking you how was your day, if you have eaten yet, and if you remembered to take care of yourself (then reprimand you if you did forget).

In the comfort of his home, Vil would video call you as he does his skincare routine, content with listening to you as you tell him about your day and talking about the most random things, because you look so beautiful to him when you do.

If you gush about how amazing the Shaftlands was as Trein and his wife showed you and Grim around, Vil would entertain the thought of showing you around his hometown with you. Just the two of you.

One day, Vil’s father was passing by as the two of you were on your video calls which is when Vil finally introduces you to his father. The older man is pleased to finally meet the one who’s making his son so happy and even excited to return to school. Vil chose not to comment on this.

His messages

“It may not be as cold there as it is here, but be sure to put on your moisturizer. Just because I’m not there to take care of you doesn’t mean you have a day off, sweet potato”

“Oh, you saw my interview this afternoon? Well of course, I was nothing short of pure elegance. But thank you, my dear. I truly appreciate your kind words. Hmm? Of course, I will tell you my next appearance”

“Sweet potato, your eyes seem tired today. Are you alright? You stayed up watching movies? Good grief, I told you how bad that was…you were watching my early works? …That is no excuse, we can watch them together when we return to college”

“Professor Trein told you and Grim that you could visit my town sometime next week? Hmm, I will discuss with my agent and I will show you around myself. Hmm? No, it’s no trouble. What inconsiderate man would think a date with his beloved would be trouble. I will see you soon”

Epel was surprised that you were actually going to be closer than he realized when you told him that you were staying with Professor Trein and his family over the break.

However, Trein’s town still isn’t exactly close and Epel was going to help out his family on the farm throughout the break anyway so the two of you couldn’t meet up as much as you really wanted to.

Texting while he was working outside wasn’t easy with the gloves Epel had to deal with so he opted with taking pictures, voice messages, and video calls whenever he could. He sends you pictures of some of the newly harvested apples and raves over the great harvest this year, which you found absolutely adorable (but you kept that to yourself).

He tried his very best to be sneaky about his calls to you though, because the townspeople would tease him and gush about young love whenever they catch him sending messages on the job.

“Look at my lil’ apple. All grown up an’ smitten”

“Grandma!”

It wasn’t any less embarrassing on your end as Trein’s daughters were also staying during the holidays and quickly caught you on your phone leaving cute messages for Epel. They’ve taken up the older sister role and lovingly grill you over your relationship.

“Does he give you flowers or chocolates? No? Hmph, how disappointing”

“He may be a hard worker, but if he isn’t a gentleman, he’s not husband material!”

The sisters were only a little bit impressed when after you jokingly told Epel about that embarrassing conversation, there was a crate of genuine Harveston apple juice. Atop of the crate, there was a note formally wishing the Trein family well and thanking them for taking care of you.

Epel may wanted to prove to you he can be a man, but now he also wants to prove he’s a gentleman…and also husband material.

His messages

“Is it cold where ya are? Be sure to get real cozy and warm. Huh, Grim’s been complaining? Haha, Shaftlands chills ain’t no joke”

“The town’s real happy about the harvest this season. Gonna be another year of delicious foods this time around. I really wanna share with ya when we get back to school”

“Do you like the apple juice I sent ya? It’s made with the apples I picked myself, you know. Gotta only be the best for ya afterall”

“Grandma has been naggin’ to bring ya over to visit. To be honest…I want that too. I miss ya a lot”

Dear annon, objectively you are correct. Jade narrating things sounds funny and cute in general. Unfortunately I have a cold and just took some nyquil ヽ(・∀・)ﾉ Whoops.

"The humble shrimp, according to all known laws of hydrodynamics should not be able to swim. Their little legs are much too small to propel them through the ocean." Jade does not say this out loud, instead he continues to prop his head up on his hand and observe the Lounge's newest employee slaving away over the stove, signature reserved smile on his face. "The shrimp of course, swims anyway, because the shrimp does not care about what mages think is impossible."

Not that you are cooking for the lounge (yet) Jade had just invited you over for a little... he had said it was to study. What you had no idea, your patience maybe? He certainly hasn't moved since inviting you to help yourself to the Octavinelle kitchen saying something about how "humans have such interesting uses for leftovers."

"Bullshit." You think, punctuating the curse with a particularly harsh scrape to the pan. "He just didn't want to cook his dinner tonight."

"Imagine if you will, a pan of rice." Jade is idly toying with a spoon, swapping between waving it like a conductor or holding it still to speak into it like an announcer. "Truly a blessing to the hungry masses, a staple food if you will."

"Oh please no." You are tempted to spit in his plate but he would just put an unnecessary type of emphasis on thanking you for the food.

"It is presented to you fried," Jade continues, clearly deeply amused with himself "but this time, it has not been fried by a trustworthy fellow human-"

"You are an eel." You decide to settle your need to be petty by giving him the smaller fork, which does get you a regretful sigh but does not stop Jade's recapping the last episode of Twisted Wonderland.

"But by a shrimp." Jade loves it when you cook for him, not that he really wants to admit to that out loud lest you stop. Or huff and puff in embarrassment, he wants to save that for much later. Sometime when you are back in the Coral Sea and tucked neatly against his chest, safe and very much completely his and not able to run away. "The humble shrimp is proud of it's cooking."

"I am not an it, I am your partner." You are not exactly mad, you are proud of your cooking. And proud that, just like he does for his brother, he will eat all of it and then find something to complain about with a big smile on his face. Jade once again twirls his conductor's spoon, with a hum that sounds sort of like an agreement.

"The shrimp is very proud of their cooking," he amends "and the eel is very happy they want to share with him." You push your food around your plate in embarrassment much to his delight. He can't resist pushing you just a bit further, getting up as if to make for a cup but pausing to kiss your cheek before setting his kettle on the stove so it's ready to repay your favor once dinner is done. "Do be gentle with me," says the eel, heart beating horrifically hard against his chest "I am much more fragile than I look." He very much does not expect to see you darting up to kiss his lips when he turns back from the stove, the shrimp darts away with a smug giggle as the eel stands stunned, savoring the warmth of their affection before he returns to his seat.

Yes, the eel thinks he is keeping this one. Forever, ideally.

Octavinelle Romantic Headcanons

Time for my favorite dorm! Would you believe me if I said I originally took Idia’s hand and I wish I had taken Floyd because we are on the same psychotic wavelength.

Romantic Headcanons

Azul Ashengrotto

This man will be completely oblivious to his feelings for months. It’s not that he’s trying to suppress them; it’s just when it comes to emotional vulnerability, he’s not used to those emotions just yet. He’s never fallen in love with a single person, so he’s not going to recognize it at all. His mother probably never sang songs about what it feels like either, so he’s not going to let it click until it’s at the point where there’s no mistaking it.

He enjoys having you at the lounge, and whenever you come in, it's automatic VIP service. He thinks it’s more of a "Thank you for all you’ve done." Nothing more, nothing less. Besides, he at least recognizes that he and the twins have come to like you as a person. So, of course, one of his friends gets a better service. He gets oddly annoyed when you bring your friends along; nothing wrong with that. They’re rambunctious and can cause problems, so of course, he’d be annoyed.

Sadly nothing gets past the twins, and they notice how Azul treats you. Surely at this point, he’s repaid the debt with a drink on the house every time you come, the best booth in the house, and making sure his staff gives you special treatment. It keeps up despite his debt being paid which isn’t like Azul. Not to mention Jade sometimes comes into his office and sees Azul sighing longingly at the thought of something. Or how Azul will make an appearance at your table every time you come in to make sure the service is good.

Jade has to spell it out for Azul to realize, “Oh, I do like the human, don’t I?”. After that, it begins with him plotting. He’s a businessman, and he understands that aspect. If he’s to date you, it would need to be mutually beneficial for you as well. He already knows what he wants from the deal. Quality time with you, shared moments together, physical affection. Now, what would you want? He’s already giving you VIP treatment at the lounge, but perhaps he can find things you enjoy and take you to them?

He begins inviting you to his office for some tea or coffee, making notes of your personal tastes, and getting to know you better. Finding out what you’re passionate about and making small notes in a special notebook he has to hide from the twins (they find it eventually). Even asks your advice on how to improve the lounge and what you’d like to see. Asking if you’d be willing to work directly under him and help him organize contracts. This will go on for weeks, and eventually, you’re at the lounge almost every day, sitting in his office and chatting or doing your own schoolwork in silence and sometimes asking him for help.

The twins are the ones who have to get involved. All this courting, Azul being distracted as he thinks about you, needs to end. So the twins are the ones who drag you around and talk Azul up, finding out if you really like him. Obviously, you do, or else you’d be declining his offers. You’re very busy, so your showing up daily to spend time with Azul was a big thing. The Leech twins relay this information to Azul, and he’s both embarrassed yet relieved.

The next day he gets your favorite drink and dish from the lounge and sits on the couch across from you. He has a piece of paper with a written contract on it. It doesn’t look like his normal one, and he hands it to you. He seemed a bit tense, but you took the paper anyway. It was…to say the least, eye-opening. It was basically asking if you’d go out with him as well as all the benefits for both parties. Don’t you dare laugh at him; he’s approaching an unknown topic in the only way he understands. He’s doing his best; please appreciate it. Sign your name, maybe even put a little heart at the end, and hand it back to him with a smile, and he will be smitten.

He will treat you like royalty. He is still trying to figure out how to go about the actual dating, but he’ll be relieved if you take initiative. He’s pretty good at keeping his composure for the most part, but he can’t help how his face feels warmer when you hold his hand, begging him to take off his gloves so you can feel his skin. You’re going to have to be the one to show physical affection first so he can gauge where you two are in the relationship and what he can and can’t do yet. Once you show one thing you’re willing to do, he’ll just do it all the time. Kisses on the back of your hand are his favorite way to greet you, along with that smirk that has you dropping everything to him.

He tries to be suave most of the time, and while sometimes he gets away with it, you have to hold back giggles at how adorable he is. It makes Jade laugh, and Floyd retch at the sight, but you wouldn’t have it any other way. He is always going to escort you home from the lounge when your stay is over and even will allow Grim to come and visit too if that’s what you desire (he’ll only come for the food then ditch the moment you two are acting like in love fools).

Sometimes, if you fall asleep on the couch, he’ll play with your hair and tell you how much you mean to him. If you’re still conscious, just pretend to be asleep for his poor heart. You mean a lot to him and are willing to put up with a lot of his issues. Jade one time walked into his office to find Azul kneeling next to your sleepy figure, holding your hand and resting his head on the cushion, also asleep. He snapped a photo and will be using it against Azul in the future. If you find out, though…Jade best send it to you so it can be your new screensaver.

Bonus Bullets: It’s going to take a lot in your relationship for him to show you his true form. You had seen his overblot, but him naturally? You’ll have to bring it up a few times with him and be going steady for months before he agrees. He’ll probably invite you to his dorm room for a bath (you can wear a swimsuit if you’re more comfortable, he assures you). He has a huge bathtub, like most students in his dorm, to accommodate his true form. He’ll be hesitant and have you get in first, and he’ll get in behind you.

Compliment him. He will be flustered and at a loss for words. Sure he’s not as insecure as he once was, but this is you he’s showing this form to. The one person he absolutely cannot handle rejection from. So if you compliment him, he won’t be able to calm his racing heart. He’s sure you can feel it on your back. If you turn to him and cup his face, telling him how beautiful you find him? You just broke an entire merman, but he will die happy now. Give him a kiss, and you’ll probably feel his tentacles wrapping protectively around you. Don’t comment on it; just accept it. Bathing together is going to be a regular thing after this.

Jade Leech

The thing with Jade is that unless he decides you’re worth pursuing, he’s not going to do it. Between his duties at the lounge as vice warden, keeping Floyd in check, and his club/hobbies, he really doesn’t have time. If he thinks you'll be a “chore,” if he gets into a relationship with you, no matter his feelings, he will ignore them and end up ignoring you. There is no way to prove to him either if you’re going to be a chore or not; he’s mainly up to how he sees it. Chances are, though, if he does have it down bad for someone, he’s going to be more inclined to see them as a “break” from everything rather than a “chore.” Just don’t make him do everything for you.

After he’s deemed that you’re going to be more of a breath of salt water rather than a nuisance, it’s going to be a game to him. Finding out what makes you tick, what flusters you, and how he can use it to his advantage. Don’t put it past him to use mental manipulation on you to get you to fall for him. He’ll use every trick in the book to make you fall hard for him. He’s almost a yandere in this aspect, pulling at your heartstrings until you’re fully twisted around his finger.

When he decides there’s no chance you’d say no to going out with him, he’s inviting you to a private booth at the lounge for dinner. His treat, something you speculated at first. Surely, there was an ultimatum here. He wanted something from you. Still, that polite smile turned into a pout as he asked if he was really that untrustworthy. The answer is yes, but you bit your tongue and took him up on the date. He simply asked if you’d like to start going steady. It would’ve been super romantic, with the candle between you and the atmosphere, if you couldn’t see Floyd out of the corner of your eye cracking his knuckles. The answer was already going to be yes, though, so you didn't have anything to worry about.

At first, going out with Jade is like navigating a stormy ocean. It’s scary and dangerous, but the promise of what comes after is always lingering. When the sea finally calms down, you can see the beauty of the sun shining through the clouds. Jade will always be polite, asking if there’s anything you need, helping you with schoolwork, and making sure you have fresh food on the table. He’ll be bringing you a lot of delicious dishes when he notices your fridge is looking sparse; just be expecting a lot of mushroom dishes to be served.

Once the initial awkwardness of getting into a new relationship is over, you’re going to notice Jade is far more relaxed in your presence. His shoulders are no longer always slightly tensed up as if an enemy is going to hop out from behind a corner. He talks more freely, the words falling from his lips before he puts too much thought into them. It’s like a whole other Jade, one that’s more honest and only you get to see. When there are others around, expect the same sickeningly sweet Jade, but when it’s just the two of you, it’s more casual.

He doesn’t mind teasing you a bit more now, being far less sneaky about it and blunter. Seeing your reactions always gives him so much joy. He isn’t one to go for too much PDA, but if he knows it’ll get a reaction out of you, who is he to not indulge? Expect him to lift your head by placing a hand on your chin, so you’re facing him until he leans in close and whispers in your ear to have a good time in class. His lips barely touch the shell of your ear, but it’s enough to distract you for the rest of the day.

Jade’s kisses are always soft and gentle when you least expect them. If you’re helping out in the lounge and he sees you doing dishes, he’ll wrap his arms around your waist and push you forward until your shirt is getting wet. When you turn to complain to him, he captures your lips quickly and then chuckles at the squeaky noises you’re making. Spray him with the hose you’re using to wash dishes. He’ll give you a disappointed look and promise that he’ll get you back at a later day.

Be expecting a lot of nature dates or dates to the garden. He’ll be explaining every form of mushroom you guys come across, as well as other plant life. You’re going to be an encyclopedia of mushrooms by the time he’s done with you. It’s totally not so you could help him nurture the ones in the garden when he’s too busy. He would never trick his beautiful S/O like that. While going on hikes, be expecting to be gone all day, though. He’s a lot of fun, though, and if at any point he realizes you need a break, he’ll find a good place to sit down. At the end of the day, don’t be surprised if you need him to carry you down the mountain. Your legs will hurt if you’re not used to hiking.

The good news about his hikes is that nobody else joins you guys, really. He plans them out just for the two of you, and as Floyd hates hiking, he never bothers to ask to join. You’re going to discover the natural beauty of this new world. Your favorite location is probably a hidden cave that had luminescent mushrooms growing that shined so bright it lit up the cave. Jade let you sit between his legs as you guys ate your dinner there before offering to carry you back to your dorm.

Everyone is going to be cautious around you. Unless they were already part of your squad, expect students to be cautious. The thought of the scarier eel twin looms over their head. Not to mention Floyd is going to be protective over you as well, judging by how his brother deemed you worth his time. If something happens to you in the school, Jade is going to know and take care of it for you as soon as he can.

Floyd Leech

Floyd takes a liking to you almost immediately. Sadly not in the romantic sense, but more of the “You’re ridiculous how are you alive?” sense. He’s going to be laughing at you a lot, every time you mess up he’s somehow there to see it. You rarely ever see Floyd in a bad or grumpy mood because he finds you too entertaining. It’s like an instant mood lift for him when you walk through the door, and all he wants to do is mess with you.

He’s going to sabotage you on purpose; there’s no doubt about that. You just have the best reactions and somehow always figure out an alternative to fix things that are endlessly creative. You’re his little Shrimpy that can do the impossible despite your lack of magical prowess. It doesn’t take long for those close to Floyd to notice the instant mood change he has when around you. In fact, it becomes so obvious that when Azul or Jade need something done and Floyd is in one of his moods, they invite you to the lounge. Sometimes it backfires, though, and he sits at your booth and just talks to you the entire time, but at least he’s not running people out of the lounge with his foul mood.

When it clicks to Floyd that he actually likes you more than just as a piece of entertainment, he wastes no time. He wants to start doing all those gross couple things, liking holding hands and stuff. So when it clicks, unlucky for you might be midnight, and he’s showing up at the Ramshackle dorm. If you don’t answer the door fast enough, you might not have a door left over. When he sees you half asleep and rubbing your eyes, he can’t help but pick you up and swing you in the air. You’re going to be confused; Grim more so than you. A quick glare at the demon cat and Grims' running back to bed.

After he finishes swinging and calling you cute when you’re all sleepy, he’s going to just confess. “Hey, you should accept that you’re my Shrimpy from now on, okay?” Is that a confession? You’re too tired to think about it and just agree with him. He’s going to make you say it as well. “Say it. Say ‘I’m you’re Shrimpy,’ okay?”. Ask if you can go back to bed if you say it, and he’ll pout but say yes.

Sadly that’s a lie because he’s going to be dragging you out. You don’t even have time to grab a jacket; he just takes his off and throws it around your shoulders before leaving the dorm. You’re probably going to be gone for an hour or two inside Mostro Lounge while he makes you a midnight snack. You’ll be sitting on the counter, still sleepy, as he whips something up and is basically feeding you, calling you cute again. Hopefully, by now, it clicks exactly what you’ve gotten into, and if you smile after figuring it out, he’s going to lose it.

You never know the kind of date you’ll be getting when you are with Floyd. Sometimes he takes you on a whimsical adventure to get some stuff for the lounge that Azul tasked him with that he really doesn't want to do. Other times you find yourself being dragged fully clothed into a pool with him when he swore up and down he just forgot something at the Octavinelle pool. It’s really hard to be mad at him when he’s peppering kisses all over your face, though, his tail wrapped securely around you. He knows a spell that will dry your clothes right off, though, so no harm, no foul.

Floyd is more motivated around you. Again, going with you being his personal mood stabilizer, everyone is going to notice. You find it odd how often Ace is begging you to come to practice or games for the basketball club. Whenever you’re there, Floyd is always doing amazingly, so you never understand when Ace complains about how Floyd sometimes just grows bored at the game and gives up. You’ve never personally seen it, but you also doubt Ace would lie like that, and it does seem like a total Floyd thing to do anyway.

PDA is now part of your life, whether you like it or not. Floyd is a handsy, kinda fellow and always wants you wrapped up in him. It becomes common to come into the cafeteria and find you on his lap, feeding yourself and him because he “Can’t spare to use his hands when they’re occupied with squeezing his Shrimpy.” It’s just a little endearing trait of Floyd’s that you’ll need to accept. Besides, the kisses are worth it. They always leave you breathless, and he gives them all the time. You’re running late for class? Not so fast; you gotta pay the kiss tax. He will block you from your classroom unless you do.

Just like with Jade, people are going to fear you because of your boyfriend. Unlike Jade, who will go and deal with anyone bothering you in the shadows, Floyd will outright clobber them right in front of you. If you tell him not to, he’ll just do it later in some dark hallway later. If Floyd comes over to Ramshackle with some blood on his knuckles, try not to think about it too much. In his own words, “Disrespecting Shrimpy is the same as disrespecting me.”.

Floyd will have calm moments around you. You’d think if it was too silent, he’d get bored. He just enjoys being around you, though, even if you insist on doing homework and not playing with you. He’s going to have you on his lap again while you do homework and eventually fall asleep behind you. It’s the cutest thing, too, him nuzzling your neck while asleep and murmuring things under his breath. No, they aren’t going to be romantic words in his sleep. They’re more random, and sometimes his sentences strung together don’t make sense, but it’s fine.

Making a Tied Fleece Blanket for the NRC First Years

Notes: I made matching fleece blankets with one of my best friends and sheesh, if someone made one of these for me I would absolutely melt. So that’s pretty much the plot of this—the NRC first years melting like pining snowmen in sunshine.

I am presently in my Sebek era so please, just this once--put the Sebek slander aside and enjoy how cute he is. His part is probably my favorite one in this list, he's just so precious...

Ace:

This is definitely the first year that teases you about making him a blanket.

He's too grateful for it to truly come off as mean, but he's got that "are you in love with me or something" energy all the way until you threaten to take it back; that is when he changes his tune.

Like "no, this is mine now, shove off"

Jokes on him though, because with the way he's constantly wrapped up in that blanket in the Heartslabyul dorm, he gets teased way more than he's ever teased you.

Trey teases him, Deuce teases him, Cater teases him... even Riddle has said some things! Dude... not cool.

He does what he wants, though, so tease him or not he's still walking around with the blanket draped on his shoulders.

"What's that, you guys? You're jealous the Ramshackle prefect hasn't made you a blanket? Well, it's not like they could go around making one for just everybody... I guess they had to pick their favorite... hm."

In essence your blanket is the heart of 90% of the teasing Ace is involved with, whether he be the victim or the assailant. It's an endless cycle, and it's going to continue to be until someone either removes the blanket from the premises or one of you confesses your feelings.

Ace isn't embarrassed to use the blanket when you're around--in fact, whenever you're in the same dorm for the evening, he'll have it draped on his back like a cape.

Just call him the King of Hearts and Blankets.

Let me tell you, if anyone ever damages this blanket, they are in for it.

Spill something on it? Dead. Rip it? Dead. Get cat or Grim hair on it? Dead.

He's not about to share this blanket either. He'll waste every breath bragging about it, but everyone else can only look, not touch.

In general he's probably the loudest about receiving this gift from you. He loves the thought that went into it, loves the practicality, loves how warm it is... and, most of all, he loves how it’s from you.

Good choice in gifts, Prefect. Now it's his turn to spoil you--brace yourself!

Deuce:

This sweet, sweet boy... is literally so confused.

Was it his birthday? A holiday? Did you mean to give this to him?

Once you confirm that, yes, you meant to give this blanket to him for no reason in particular--he's speechless. I mean, really speechless. He almost couldn't thank you because he was so stunned by the gesture.

He immediately tries to think of ways to return the favor. He'll offer to study with you more, bring you a few drinks or snacks before class, little things that he hopes add up to bringing you the same amount of joy that you brought him.

You catch on quickly, though--you just know him so well, don't you Prefect? You tell him he doesn't owe you anything, that you had fun making the blanket so really it was a win for both of you. He still doesn't know how to express proper appreciation for the gift, because he seriously treasures that thing.

The first thing he does is send a picture to his mom--of course he wants to show her, it was one of the best gifts he's ever gotten! Bad move, though, because now his mom is trying to convince him that the two of you are unconsciously dating and--even though she's never met you in real life, she's kind of starting to sound convincing...

Or maybe she's just trying to help Deuce realize his feelings for you, but either way, some sort of message is getting across. And that message makes Deuce's heart pound every time you're around.

He brings up the blanket so much that eventually you assume he likes the pattern and shape of it, so one day you buy a bunch of fleece and invite Deuce to Ramshackle to teach him how to make one for himself.

Grim likes to lay on the fabric as you work and wrinkle it up. It proves very difficult to get much of it done, but well... Deuce loves the time he's spending with you. Maybe if he weren't already trucking along at the pace of a snail with a broken back, he'd try to go a little slower and extend your time together.

All good things must come to an end though.

Eventually his blanket is finished, and proudly he hands it off to you, telling you it was his thank-you for spending the time with him and teaching him. It's a little messed up--his cuts were uneven, some of the strands he cut never quite made it into a knot, he'd accidentally had one of the layers of fleece flipped on the wrong side...

Still, you already treasured it. Now you both had cute fleece blankets! It was perfect!

Immediately you propose a movie night together where both of you can curl up under your blankets and watch something on TV. Deuce accepts readily, but the whole time he can't help but think....

He wanted to have this evening together with you again, but next time, he hoped it would be in a more romantic context.

Seeing you all curled up in the blanket he made you gave him the confidence he needed. It was decided then--the next time you two do this, you would be aware of his feelings, and hopefully you'd be able to call your time together a date.

Just you wait, Prefect! He's gonna give you a confession you deserve!

Jack:

Now, since you were an individual who came to Twisted Wonderland as poor as dirt, Jack was in the business of lending you clothes to wear during your outside-of-school adventures, since you couldn't very well buy much for yourself. It was mostly hoodies and jackets, but he let you know you had free rein to his closet any time you needed, regardless of what you wanted to borrow.

He just wanted you to keep warm, okay?! He meant nothing else by it! It was just a friend looking out for a friend, so...

Anyways, because you did this you'd often tell Jack constantly how much borrowing his hoodies and jackets meant to you, and he never really understood why you were so grateful. They were just clothes, right?

You would try to explain it to him--that wearing his clothes just made you feel so safe and comfortable, and you enjoyed having a reminder of him on your person whenever you could, it just made you feel so close to him and it truly melted your heart that he would be so considerate. He'd usually just brush your words off with an embarrassed and curt "Don't worry about it", but now things were starting to change.

He didn't think wearing a hoodie was half as life-changing as you making him a whole blanket. For absolutely no reason at all, just because you cared about him.

His tail was wagging even before you handed it off to him. You talked about how you made sure to get the right size fabric, pick the colors and patterns you thought he'd like best, cut the fleece and tie the knots with care--you were just so thoughtful, he wasn't really sure what to make of it??

And the blanket was so soft and warm and it smelled like you-

Not to mention, every time he saw it he couldn't help but think about how you'd tied every single one of those knots. All by yourself.

All this just to show him a little bit of love. Gosh, he was just melting inside.

He protects the blanket with his life. He's somehow convinced himself Ruggie is out to steal it, to the point where he's threatened the poor hyena, then yelled at Ruggie when he replied with, "Dude, I don't want your weird homemade blanket, I could make my own".

Like no Ruggie, you couldn't. This one was magical and special and perfect. You wouldn't get it.

It's not just a gift to him. It was a token of your affection, proof that you had been thinking of him. Even if it got too hot in the Savanaclaw dorm to use as a blanket, Jack would just fold it up and use it as a pillow for the night, because frankly he was quite addicted to it.

During that one Camp Vargas trip, though, he'd made the reluctant decision to leave the blanket behind--he didn't want it to get damaged, you know. That trip though... he slept horribly, he really missed that blanket.

So much so he almost invited you to stay in his tent as a replacement. Almost.

...He'd have to work up a lot more courage to do that in reality, though.

Basically, that blanket is his ultimate comfort item. Whether he's stressed, or angry, or just having a grey day, you could easily find him in his room with the blanket in his arms.

He just hopes one day he can make it so that you two could share the blanket you made--maybe on a movie date, or just lounging together in one of your dorms? Don't worry Prefect, he's building up the confidence--he's just waiting for the right time, he refuses to mess this up!

Epel:

And you didn't make it with any fabric Epel would consider 'girly'. Kudos.

As hard as it was to witness, Epel had a whole enemies to lovers arc with the blanket. It's like his internalized toxic masculinity had a fight to the death with his crush on you and his crush won over, not without an epic anime battle taking place in the middle.

He just stood there at first, wondering if this was the equivalent to receiving chocolates and flowers and stuffed animals. The homemade quality felt very... gentle, and the panic of you not seeing him as the man he wanted to be was high-key freaking him out.

He was overthinking everything. After a minute of gawking you just told him he didn't have to pretend to like it if he didn't, and it was only when he blurted out how much he loved it that his thoughts started to clear up.

That was right... he loved it.

Okay, so he loved the blanket. But what did you mean by giving this to him?

Epel always had this sort of stormy look when he was overthinking--it was like you could see the dark clouds rolling in his sky blue eyes, like you could feel the electric of impending lightning in the air around him. Finally you ask what was on his mind, and he tells you.

Oh, was that all? Silly Epel, you didn't need a reason to do something like this! You did it because you thought of him--don't worry, you had fun making the blanket, so it's not like you were putting in rewardless labor just to send him some kind of subtle message he was missing.

You suppose you'll make the message as clear as possible. "I was thinking about you and wanted to show you how much I care about you."

Oh.

...so he loved the blanket a bit more now.

That's basically how things were going--he'd notice something about the blanket, or just think about it a little more, and suddenly he was more and more attached.

Can you imagine his reaction when Vil said something about the colors clashing with the established palette in his room? Like listen here you social media clown, this blanket is perfect and precious and it belongs everywhere so why don't you shut up and mind your own business?!

...

Vil was terrifying. It worked out okay, though, because Vil soon found out the blanket was from you, and his previous interest in harmonious aesthetics was quickly replaced by an interest in Epel making a move on you.

Come on baby potato, you represent the Pomefiore dorm--the dorm of beauty and grace and perfection. There's no way you shouldn't be able to woo the Ramshackle prefect, you hear?

Just know that if Epel starts to act differently around you, it isn't entirely because of the blanket. There's also a Vil involved, and that Vil really wants the two of you to get together.

Sebek:

How many times did you have to explain to this guy that the blanket wasn't a ploy to get Malleus's attention?

No, you didn't want him to give the blanket to Malleus on your behalf.

No, you weren't trying to curate Malleus's favor by getting in good graces with one of his knights.

No, you weren't trying to bribe him to tell you more about Malleus. You were well aware he'd do that for free, anytime and anywhere.

Goodness, Sebek, can't you see this is just about you? You care about him. You made a blanket to show your affection for him. Those were the only elements in the equation.

Oh, and you did see the patterns of fleece in Sam's store that made you think of him. That factored in too.

Sebek still tries to connect your gift-making and gift-giving to Malleus, but you don't really mind. If you were the type to crush on perceptive and sharp men you'd be making the blanket for someone like Jamil or Azul, not this overenthusiastic mint-chocolate-chip half-fae with the same gung-ho personality as Naruto's Rock Lee.

Ooh, better yet, he's got the energy of Nishinoya from Haikyuu. Kiyoko was to Nishinoya what "Wakasama" was to Sebek. Now that's a critical-thinking analogy English teachers ought to praise you over.

You have to admit, you're a little surprised because… well… Sebek thanked you after that by saying your name. Not "human", not "Prefect", not some insincere nickname that implied inferiority--your name.

Like an equal??

If Lilia hears about this he's gonna think you and Sebek are one wedding bell away from tying the knot. Something about that blanket has made Sebek respect you on a whole new level and, frankly, you were starting to wonder if it was just Lilia playing a prank on you at this point. It was almost too good to be true.

Unlike some of the others, Sebek doesn't really bring the blanket up that much. Sure--he uses it, he loves it, but he doesn't really see the point to it. Driving it into the ground that he likes it might make you regret giving it to him, and that was the last thing he wanted.

Instead, he made sure to express his full gratitude in one fell swoop--through a beautifully written letter, done in remarkable penmanship and expressed with words that made clear his obvious intellect.

Dear Friend,

I write you this letter today in response to this most lovely gift you've bestowed upon me--a fleece blanket of two patterns, containing a duplexity that shows a comprehensive and vast understanding of my nature and values on your part. I commend you for your consideration and obvious attention to craft and detail. One should think such a wonderful gift would be more fitting for Lord Malleus who, although he is remarkable and admirable in every way, doesn't quite fit the character you've established within the finer details of this blanket. Alas--I can tell you've crafted this entirely with me in mind, and the more I dwell on the details the more I feel as if I understand myself with the lens through which you view me. The green is a shade I recall telling you I adore, and the lightning pattern that so resembles the Thorn Fairy's magic is an ode to one of my favorite stories to tell. You've shown you truly listen to me and care about what I have to say, which is a precious and priceless thing.

I write this letter to thank you for your kindness. In this letter I vow to return your affection tenfold, to such lengths that a human like you could never replicate. For my master is Malleus and Malleus alone--I serve my land, my family, and my mentors with all my heart and strength, but so long as I'm around I can still promise you will never need to feel alone, for I care just the same about you. My protection, my respect and my strength is yours to trust in.

Thank you again, Prefect. I shall treasure this gift for all my days to come.

Hey everyone! So I know it's early, but I need to start now if I'm going to do this! I actually don't want to write for this, because I want to focus on art for a while! However I do want you all to be able to participate too and help choose, so here's how it's going to work.

1) Choose a day and a character (note some prompts may require more than one character so if it does make sure to send in two!) and send in your request either via ask or dm.

2) They must be Haikyuu (or TWST) characters. I will not be taking OCs in this particular project.

3) Requests are on a first come first served basis, and the list will be filled out as days are claimed.
