Looks like they’re using the top end of a chopstick to write it. Cool!
Also - that joke totally killed me! Top level humor for archaeologists! 😆
i never realized cuneiform was made with the corner of a cuboid tool, i thought the wedge shapes were carved such that you would press straight down with the tool at a 90° angle to the clay

Boosting this for visibility.
Even if these haven’t been used where you live or are protesting - gear up before you head out and know how to avoid the path of the sound.

Congress is back in session this week. If any of these Republican senators represent you, let them know in no uncertain terms that they must not enact Trump’s Big Ugly Bill that would make devastating cuts to Medicaid and food assistance programs to finance tax cuts predominantly going to the super rich.

This is so beautiful. It eloquently expresses my belief as well - to be so lucky to have met my wife. To live and love the best you can because this is all you’re going to get. Yup. That’s it.

Nice day with the Hot Wife wandering through a nursery, picking out native plants for the garden. When we moved into our house 24 years ago, we planted a bunch of random stuff that we liked and added to it over the years. For the past couple of years she’s been slowly replacing the non-native plants with native plants and adding stuff to have a rolling bloom so pollinators have food year-round. She’s created an amazing garden. And dude, I look at that first photo and damn, she is so sexy. She’s even hotter in her 50s than she was in her 30s. 😍 After the nursery we had a nice lunch in Frederick and went home. It was a lovely day together.

hello i’m a butch in maryland and wondering where you get good crab during the season here!! i’ve been wanting to get a seafood boil for my family and thanks for all of the pics and your lovely tags in your posts i love seeing happy queers
Hi! That’s a tough question! If we’re going out for crabs, we go to Cantler’s in Annapolis. When we’re getting a bunch of them to eat, we get them at Wild Seafood in Jessup and have them steam ‘em. When I go fossiling in Calvert County, Seester and I hit up Stoney’s, or one of the restaurants on Solomon’s Island. Hopefully that helps. If we’re on Kent Island, we usually hit up one of the restaurants around the Kent Narrows. I hope that helps!
After re-reading your ask, I think Wild Seafood is your best bet. That’s where we get steamed crabs for our annual Crab Fest.

First crabs of the season! The Hot Wife has nearly been converted to a Marylander…except for her disturbing habit of dipping crabmeat in malt vinegar. 🤢

This episode is brilliant - and what a great title “The Bitter Suite.” Not only are the songs actually good (I love the soundtrack and have it on cd, because I’m old), but it’s also a great showcase for Lucy’s voice. All that aside, it advances the plot: it’s not a silly one off. This is where we finally mend the rift that had grown between them as Xena and Gabby work through their feelings. And there are so many feelings in this episode, it’s just fantastic. One of the best episodes of the show.
It aired in 1998. By comparison, Buffy’s “Once More with Feeling” aired in 2001 and gets way more recognition. The Bitter Suite is superior in every way (and I say this as someone who a big BtVS fan back in the day - whereas I’m still a XWP fan).
Don’t believe me? Then listen to the Xena Warrior Princess: The Bitter Suite A Musical Odyssey by Joseph Loduca. It’s available for free on Spotify.
I’m gonna do that right now.

In our relationship, 99% of the time I’m the one who plans dates and stuff for us to do, like, go see a cool exhibit at a museum or a going to a concert or whatever. Today the Hot Wife asked me to go hiking because it was such a beautiful day. Of course I agreed and suggested Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary because the last time we went, there were soooo many mushrooms everywhere, it was amazing. And it’s pretty and just a nice place to hike.
Best. Day. Ever. Didn’t see any mushrooms, but I got to spend the afternoon wandering the woods and boardwalks with my Boo.

Not to get all Gen X, but (1) write it down in an actual book, not electronically. (2) Hide the book somewhere your parent(s) won’t find it. (3) Write it in code.
The 80s paperback version of the Hobbit (yellow cover) has an illustration of a runic inscription in the front pages of the book and a translation of it later in the book. You can get the whole alphabet that way. That’s what my friends and I used to pass notes in class. I still use it occasionally.
I hollowed out an old history book, glued all the pages together that are after page one, and glued the last page to the back of the book. Let it dry completely. Then cut a hole into the glued pages. It takes a lot of effort, but is worth it. I had that book for years, then passed it along to my oldest niece.

Nice view from my desk today. 😜 The Hot Wife is building fencing around our garden. She “forgot” to bring her Nalgene water bottle out with her (accidentally on purpose I’m sure), so I filled and took it out to her and complimented her on her hard work, while she preened.
