Think my mind has become so scattered after living in Alberta for all of my life and being surrounded by white women and fucking OIL that the soup that is my brain has spit out this idea that I'm not sure has any merit.

But white women are kind of like oil, y'know? White men (oil magnates) extract them to depletion for money and status and legacy, oil is the entire reason for their success, but while they raise up the magnates, the rest of us are polluted and burned and destroyed in consequence.

This is a terrible metaphor, and it stems mainly from an insane dream I had, but it makes sense to me kind of.

Our lives have been turned upside down by war. My home has been reduced to rubble, and my husband lost his water truck, which was our only source of income. We’ve been forced to evacuate twice—from Deir el Balah to the Nuseirat camp—and now, we live in constant fear of what the future holds.

To make matters worse, Adam was born with clubfoot and urgently needs surgery. The cost for his treatment and specialized medical boots is at least $3000, but this surgery isn’t even possible in Gaza.

I recently graduated as a nurse, and I dream of building a better life for my family. But to do that, we must leave Gaza and start over in safety.

I love tutoring kids in math (particularly polynomials and radicals) and watching their faces as they slowly realize that math is just a ouroboros of the same variables, concepts, and theorems repeated over and over and over again into its very highest levels.

And then I have to remind them that memorizing multiplication tables is very important because it’ll make their lives so much easier and that 11x11 is not 111 but is in fact 121. A kid I tutored got 100 on his math 10C final exam and his mom baked me cookies. Math is great.
