One year into community college

I officially completed my first year of college classes about three weeks ago. I'm just getting to writing about it now because, to be completely honest, I just didn't feel like posting anything. Right now I'm writing this in-between working on assignments for my summer classes. ( I wanted to get ahead a few credits.) No one asked but I kind of wanted to go over my personal experience in community college. I am going to split up this post by semester as my fall and spring semester were very different. I took all online classes for my fall classes and all in person classes for my spring semester.
Fall 2024:
As I mentioned I took all my fall classes online. I had originally planned to take five classes in the fall, but I had to drop one class due to technical issues. Overall, I had an okay time with online classes though I did have a few issues with the structure with some of the classes. I also felt overwhelmed by the amount of work needed to complete online classes (hence going all in person next semester.) I had little to no direct interactions with the campus itself so my experience for this semester with be kept to my experience in my classes.
A few things I would like to put before I write more specific points on each specific class. Online classes generally require more work than in person class and much more work. You have to effectively teach yourself the material and organize yourself throughout the class. Some classes will have a more organized class structure (via a "week-by-week", or by module, etc.) but even then you have make the time to follow that structure. I wouldn't recommend a full time schedule to students who need to work full-time even through online classes.
I will have the classes and my thoughts listed below:
CIS 105 (Computer Information Systems): I had to drop this class and take it next semester in person, as my laptop was not strong enough to run the programs needed to complete class work.
ENG 101 (English) : A fairly normal online class. If you need to slim your time on campus for any reason I would take this online. My class was fairly structured; you would complete a module per week. With one exception of the last module as it took two week to complete.
FYE 103(First Year Experience): So far this is the only class I would recommend every student take online if they can. This is the easiest class I have taken so far, but the class works as an introduction to college and what is expected to you. Pay attention to what you learn in this class.
MAT 151 (College Algebra): To put my experience in this class frank; this class was hell. I would regularly be up until 1-2am finishing homework for this class. This topic covered in this class is so integral to college that they have to REALLY drill it in but it leaves a rough experience for students. I have actually talked to other cc students from other schools and we all agree you should take this one in person.
Spring 2025:
I took all my classes in person this semester. the classes in community college are small. I don't believe I've had classes under 20 people since kindergarten. Gave me a lot of time to meet and speak to everyone in my classes though. I really enjoy my campus as well, it has multiple nice areas to hang out in out of class.
ACC 111 (Accounting) : My professor for this class was a kind of an odd guy. But the class wasn't to difficult and the topic was well explained. There was quite a bot of homework but nothing that I couldn't handle.
ECN 111 (Economics) : I had a great professor for this class so my experience will probably be biased. I loved this class; the topic was interesting, the work wasn't necessary hard, and I liked how the lectures were structured.
MAT 187 (Pre-Calculous) : This class was originally held in a longer period than it is held now. I don't know how any community colleges have handled their courses, but the one I attend never changed their course schedules back from covid. This was so fast paced I never felt like I could actually focus on anything longer enough to really understand what was happening.
CIS 105 (Computer-Information Systems): I took this class after having to drop it last semester. This class was simple but fast paced. There was only homework if you didn't complete your work in class.
ENG 102 (English): This half of my introductory English credit was focused mostly on proper research for college level work. This class was structured around analyzing novels and their film adaptation. Your experience will depend heavily on your professor.

You know I thought about for a minute and I remembered that I walked off a city rail I needed to go home right as the doors were closing yesterday . My sister was still inside the train and I just stared at the doors fully expecting to be left behind. Again I got lucky though and they opened the doors again. (I had never used the rail before before and I was looking for the placed to check you tickets at.)
I think I just might be a little dumb but very lucky. Only kinda Arizona's fault.
It's raining really hard tonight. Even for places with normal climates this is a strong storm. I was in bed when something must have knock my window out of it's frame. I got up immediately; however instead of fixing it, I just looked out at the storm. I, surprised more by the rain, said "oh my god look outside," to no one.
Then water leaked onto my hand and I finally processed that my window was out of it's frame. I fixed it after that; must've been like a minute of it slowly falling before I did anything.
This is what living in Arizona will do to your brain. You'll be more focused on it raining then your window falling out of it's frame. I'm very lucky it didn't shatter or crack in any way.
