My community college had dorms that were kinda goth-themed and I found out that Shadow the Hedgehog set his on fire and I HAD to rescue Kirby. Kirby was back in my dorm taking a nap. Somehow I wound up in a kebab joint and a board game area.

Even though it is spring break, I am using this time to get ahead with school work. I feel like half of my time going to school is trying to balance life, work, and school. Any tips?

when you realize…
other people in the fandom are lame. I made a study group in my greendale-esque community college (no srs this was a weird cc but it was so funny so whatever) a year ago and they watched community too… or so claimed they did. But they didn’t actually like it the way I did. When I made references, they smiled but didn’t go back and forth in conversation or say the next line. And they literally didn’t care enough to even to get other members in the study group 😭 like bro how you gonna say you wanna join my fake community/greendale study group but then never actually participate in the jokes and assign each other roles. Like I was Jeff and Abed cuz these bitches were being boring as fuck like pierce and ruining the mood. Man istg those were the lamest community fans I’ve ever met. Jfc I hope I don’t meet any community fans like that ever again. Not one reference or one conversation about the show unless I brought it up and even then they didn’t talk much. EVEN THO THEY SAID THEY WANTED TO MAKE A STUDY GROUP LIKE THEIRS. Y’ALL. WHAT. I’m thinking they were def lying about watching it/finishing it 💀 cuz there’s no way you watch 6 SEASONS of community and walk out like a normal person. You become Changed forever.
Just to add: yes ik it seems dumb but the best way I can describe is like… imagine you finally meet someone like you or watches the same stuff as you etc and then you talk and they are the lamest mfs on earth who actually don’t talk or share anything about the said interests. Imagine you had a bff and you finally met but they never once talk about your inside jokes and understand what you say … it’s like ??? Huh??? What’s with the mood switch? Why are you hyping it up and then not doing shit lmaooo. It’s just disappointing tbh cuz … you expect them to actually be on the same energy as you

one of my favorite parts of taking online college courses is reading the introductions of the hardworking middle-aged mothers and fathers trying to get their education 😭 you deserve the world

Ok guys I know some of us are commuters to college and some travel fairly long distances so here's some tips!!
First things first is that you need a good backpack that has lots of room and is sturdy to last you a few years
You are an hour or two away from home so carry some medications like ibuprofen, pepto pills, allergy pills, etc I personally use a round pill organizer with compartments that screw together so it doesn't take up much room
Also a small first aid kit with some bandaids of different sizes, triple antibiotic ointment, the pill thing, pads/tampons if u have periods, a brace for any joint u have issues with (if applicable), etc
I try to bring my own snacks so I'm not stuck paying vending machine or fast food prices for a bag of chips
Carry everything you could need for class. I have my laptop, charger, a 5 subject notebook so I don't accidentally bring the wrong notebook on the wrong day, a pencil case with black pens, colored pens, highlighters (love the erasable ones), 1 or 2 sharpies, etc
I also carry ear buds, a phone charger + brick, mini stapler, tape, and anything else I might need for the classes I am taking
Give yourself about 15-30 extra minutes to get there, especially during construction season because u never know what construction could pop up
Buy the parking pass, I know it's expensive but good luck finding parking outside campus parking lots
Or don't, one of my friends said if she gets caught once a week and pays for the ticket it's still less than the parking pass but that's ur own risk
Make sure your textbooks are in your backpack before you leave. You do NOT want to be an hour away from home and find out your reading your textbook in class and it's sitting on your desk
Bring a mask even if your campus doesn't require one. When the person next to you is coughing all class you will probably want one and you can't just slip out for 10 minutes to walk to your dorm
That's all I have for now but I'm sure I'll think of more because I'm writing this on my lunch break :) have fun at college this summer/fall

I work at a community college and one of my students, who is very quickly earning every certification possible and tutoring others who are taking classes he took, just kept moving higher and higher up in society until he was so famous I  had to sneak into his backyard to get updates on his academic progress.

Support artists in your community!
Last year I started taking a sculpture class at a community college in Oakland (which is why you now are seeing me post sculptures on here), and it has radically changed the way I experience art museums. I now have this new experience of seeing work that engages with ideas that my classmates are, frankly, doing better with far fewer resources.
This isn't a ground breaking observation obviously. I have known, intellectually, for a long time that art is a game of connections and who you know and resources. But it hits different when you see it in real time, played out across very expensive and fancy museum floors.
It must be extra frustrating for teachers at these colleges, constantly seeing students come through who are doing amazing, original work and getting zero recognition or access to the spaces in which "success" in the art world happens.
I have no illusions that I am going to be able to dismantle the fucked up power structures of the art world, but what I can do is support and encourage the artists in my community and you probably can too. I guarantee that many artists around you are arranging their own shows in garage spaces, or warehouses, or community centers. Go see them! Buy their work! Share their stuff on Instagram or Tumblr or whatever!

I've decided that community "college" is just high school 2.0, and that is not intended as a compliment 😡 (baby sitting people who show up last minute to get peer reviews on their essay and they don't return the favor😑) It's supposed to be I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine, but I guess in 2024 its you scratch my back, bye!
