"The Comfort Zone"

I've been going to therapy for a month now, it's been a great experience for me so far and I'm learning a lot about myself and the way I handle my fears to navigate everyday life.

I made this piece based on a recent talk I had with my therapist about how the comfort zone is sort of like having chains that fit very comfortably, they keep us from doing things we don't want to do, so we stay in a cozy cocoon like state while also preventing ourselves from growing on many aspects of our lives, when we could be transforming into a new stronger version of ourselves if we dared to remove them.

Phew, this one took me a while!

I wanted to keep playing with the cluttered style and decided so make some Super Mario World fanart, this game was my first videogame ever, I got it for christmas when I was 5 years old and life was never the same ever since. It holds a very dear place in my heart and I still love it to this day, a total classic <3

I'm having a lot of fun playing with this style <3 It's like a puzzle mixed with a comic and a storybook or something, not sure how I would describe it, but I like it and am excited to see where I take it next x)

I recently did another pokemon themed tattoo commission (I only did the design not the tattooing part), you can see the finished result on the 2nd slide :D This time I was asked to make a chibi design using the client's 3 favorite pokemon, archeops, flygon and lurantis. This is a take on the Fierce Deity Link mixed with the traditional japanede kumadori makeup from the kabuki theater. This is another design I feel could work both as a tshirt or tattoo. I took a break in October and focused on drawing monsters with ink and I'm feeling reinvigorated to get back to drawing some good ol' Smash Bros fanart! This is probably my favorite take I've done so far on the hero of time himself, Link! Jack Skellington! The Pumpkin King 🎃 Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas holds a very special place in my heart. I loved it as a 90s kid, falling completely in love by the world created by Tim Burton, Henry Selick and the amazing team of artists at Disney, it had a very big impact in my life. When it returned with a vengeance during my teen years I couldn't be happier to see so much stuff for this movie that seemed would just be a cult hit. It's my favorite musical and its world is so well built I can imagine myself walking through its dark streets and crooked houses. Throw in Danny Elfman who sings in one of my favorite band "Oingo Boingo" and you get a perfect mix. I'm currently reading its book sequel "Long Live The Pumpkin Queen" and I'm loving it 🖤 And with this we close this Spooktober series.
