Animal rights activists protest horse carriage industry in NYC

        Animal rights activists staged a protest Monday evening against the horse-drawn carriages stationed along Central Park. Friday marked the anniversary of the death of Charlie, a carriage horse who dropped dead suddenly on 54th street in 2011.

More than 80 activists showed up to support the event that was co-sponsored by Friends of Animals, Last Chance for Animals and NYCLASS.

A veggie burger and vegan cheese company, Impossible Foods, has raised a $108 round of funding, according to Tech Crunch. Investors in the round included Viking Global Investors and Khosla Ventures; Microsoft’s Bill Gates; and Horizons Ventures.
