Excerpt:

Frigidity is the first sense to return to him. Illya's very first thought is that somehow, he ended up frozen in a block of ice. His very second thought is that he cannot breathe. Water rushes to fill his mouth, his nose, pours into his lungs. The thick wool that was meant to keep him safe from the cold weighs him down, rendering his attempts to claw to the surface futile. Illya's heart pounds in his ears and panic seizes him. If he can't breach for air…. Something that feels impossibly like arms slide around his waist, comparatively hot against his skin. His vision begins to darken and for a delirious moment, he believes that the hands that are turning him around will belong to his mother, come to take him home. But it isn't the phantom visage of his mother, he sees. It's a man.

And when Napoleon sees it, at first he lets it go. Then Gaby dares him to try it too.

And he does. And Illya catches him

And then it’s just what’s expected. Sometimes you’ll hear Napoleon yelling “Peril” in the distance, and a loud “Cowboy, NO–” And when you see them, it’s Illya holding Napoleon in his arms with Gaby on his back… or vice versa
