posting the longer version of my previous reblog bc it was being weird and glitchy
Thoughts after watching this trailer a few times:
Are we seeing this quasi-ragtag group just getting their bearings? Or could this possibly be a glimpse into the struggle they will continually face. I've thought about this before (as im sure many have) but this trailer has me wondering again: will the lack of cohesion in the kitchen and the looming deadline to pay Cicero back cause The Bear to crumble?
We love an underdog story. We root for the characters we love to beat the odds, making the impossible possible. However, this show hasn't shied away from showcasing the way many restaurants in the area have failed. How unrelenting and unforgiving this industry is, in general. One of the restaurants Sydney went to on her "tour" shut down soon after that visit. So it isn't unrealistic to think that The Bear is being set up to be an example of putting blood sweat and tears into this industry and coming up short.
I'd hate for this to happen mostly because Sydney has already dealt with this heartache. She's already started a business from the ground up and suffered from its failure. At one point, when talking to her dad, she expresses that she doesn't think she could do this again, if she has another one in her. Her feelings are understandable. But our girl is just too good, too talented for this to be the end. Yet, I can also understand feeling burnt one too many times by an industry you thought could be a forever one.
I also want The Bear to succeed for Richie. His time at Ever showed him how he could grow and change with The Bear. He doesn't have to be stagnant. He can see his purpose. He talks about struggling with that in S2 'Beef'. I don't want the potential failure of The Bear to derail Richie's growth. If The Bear is destined to fail I want everyone to come out of it with other prospects, but I especially want Richie to continue to pursue this new purpose. Maybe at Ever. Maybe somewhere else.
As for Syd, I truly want to the world for her. If this is the end of The Bear I hope she becomes CDC (or EC) somewhere else. Maybe she's able to open up her own place (brick and mortar) down the line. I want her to get her stars because she deserves them. I want her to love going into work every day (or atleast most days like let's be realistic lol).

this moment lives in my head RENT FREE, okay! Sydney's side-eye/nearly knowing look, Carmy's face, Marcus' big ass smile when he opens it and reads the card. Just lighting up the whole room. Listen. LISTEN!
I'm not saying they hooked up in s2 (also not saying they didn't...), but s3 better give me more of them.
does this train of thought make me delusional. I mean maybe...but can you blame me???

OP said he wants to be walked like a dog and you know what...FACTS!!
Carmy in reference to Syd:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Do y'all see this grown man BEGGING for Sydney to put him in his place and set his ass straight?? S1 Carmy was arrogant and didn't think twice about saying whatever the fuck he wanted. You don't like how he runs his kitchen? Go fuck yourself and get the fuck out. S2 Carmy is begging Sydney to let him know when he's wrong because he doesn't want her to leave him again. DO YOU KNOW HOW SIGNIFICANT THAT IS FOR A CHARACTER LIKE HIM???
A part of Carmy's characterization is that he's the one that abandons people. He didn't need anyone. Carmy literally ghosted his family and shut anyone that was a distraction out of his life, and here he is doing everything he can to make Sydney stay because he needs her. If the vibe is even a little off he's like what's wrong? What happened? What did I do? He literally wants Sydney to tell him what to do.
Y'all I'm SICK.

Season One Episode Six, where Syd handles the rowdy John and Mr. Carl outside of the beef and Richie is running around trying to find his gun to defuse it. Richie and Carmy are shown handling violence with violence so often (or in Carmy’s case sometimes just shutting down) and that scene just really highlights the type of dynamic change in the Bear Syd is responsible for.
She reaches out to those guys with food, feeds them and gives them a reason to connect. In the face of violence her first instinct is to offer comfort, connection.
Or maybe I’m trippin idk hehe

Me thinking: nahh talk that shit. Let them know!!
Knowing full well I'd try to stay away from the drama too. But yes to all of this.
Me, whenever I log into God’s given internet just to be hit with a new rumor/info regarding S3 and the fate of SydCarmy, even though I knew that the chances of them becoming canon were actually zero, but deluded myself into being positive about it ‘cause as the greatest thinker of our time, Ayo Edebiri, once said “I’m delusional, dawg!”
“It’s not over until it’s over, guys!” said I, crying, cursing and throwing up.

Ooooo I like this...never thought about a mothers day ep.
Okay so I went back to 'Bolognese' bc I couldn't remember if the opening was in april or may and that matters. Friends and fam happens may 26th (according to their calendar), so a mothers day episode would only potentially work in S4. BUT I still very much like this idea. Maybe this could be tied in with Marcus' mom's (presumed) funeral eposide?? People often get sentimental/emotional/reflective during major events like weddings, funerals, etc. Who is to say that Marcus' mom's (potential/probable) passing won't bring up these types of feelings for our beloved Bear family?
I can't remember whose, but I saw a tumblr post a while back that said they could see Richie and Syd having to drag Carmy's ass to the funeral because he refuses to go at first. This would make sense considering his unresolved issues with his own mother and death (not going to Michael's funeral).
i was working yesterday (mother’s day) at my restaurant job and i started thinking…
a mother’s day episode of the bear.
mother’s day is known as one of, if not the, busiest and most stressful day for the restaurant industry. i know at my place, we take it very seriously and anticipate it all year.
we also know our character’s in the bear seem to have a common theme of difficult and/or sensitive relationships with their mothers and mother figures in their lives.
- nat, carm, & mike with donna (obviously)
- nat becoming a new mom!!
- syd and her late mother
- marcus and his (assumed) late mother
- richie & tiffany (eva’s mother)
- maybe explore tina as a mother? (her son louie is featured in 1.07)
i think having an episode based around the event of mother’s day would be a really interesting way to continue to develop the character’s tumultuous relationships with motherhood and the mothers in their lives while also emphasizing the stressful environment of the restaurant on its busiest day of the year!
i also wanna add that this could be a good opportunity for syd and carm to truly connect with each other on the topic of their mothers. while they do have different experiences, both have an untraditional relationship with their mother, and i think it would be nice to see them truly bond with one another while speaking about it.
let me know your thoughts!! you can always send me an ask or reblog/reply, i would love to see what you guys think too.
and happy mother’s day to anyone who celebrates!
