SPACE ELEGANCE
The Before and After of my restyle of Dina Caliente's room :)
I was inspired by the backstory of the Caliente sisters being born of the cosmos. I combined elements of comfort and elegance with a nod to possible roots in space. I also stuck to a darker palette and warmed up the lighting. I love it!! I guess now I'll have to redo the others rooms too.

I was feeling themes rooms the other day and started with this kitchen design. So far I've called it Purple Passions. The monochromatic vibe was strong that day. Debating should I make a kitchen of each colour? Tackle the rainbow?

I love building crystals formations. Whenever I just need to do a repetitive more meditative build I do small decor pieces like this. Though I still haven't chosen where I will display this one :)

Alternative way to build crystal formations - where you place the crystals first and arrange rocks around them :)

So lately I have found myself really into building tiny homes in The Sims 4. I love how much detail can go into a small space and challenging myself on the builds. However I realized I kept having to create spaces for my Sims to work on their skills.
So I had the brilliant idea to build a Skill Building Community Centre. Including the basement and the roof - there are 5 different floors for the Sims to level up, hang out, and socialize.
I cannot even say how long the whole build took but lets say hours. :S

The Inside of The Heart House Build
Here's a peek inside at the decor I put in the house. In my head I really wanted to give it a pastel cozy aesthetic. When I tell you I forgot the bathroom until the end and it almost was my undoing -- sigh. Anyone else struggle with circular walls? Any tips or tricks? :)

This Build almost broke me...
Started playing The Sims 4 a little over a month ago, so naturally, I decided to dive right in and try building a heart-shaped house 🤦‍♀️💖. Guess I’m all in from the get-go!

ps. it only took like 8hrs and fighting constantly with the 'invalid circular room' limitation

Finding Joy and Creativity in Sims 4
As an elder millennial (haha), I’ve always been a fan of video games, but I never spent much time exploring this interest. Between career shifts, personal milestones, and the general stresses of adulting, gaming wasn’t something I had time to indulge in. Recently, I discovered something I didn’t expect to find—an escape, a creative outlet, and community all wrapped up in one virtual world: The Sims 4.
What started as a casual curiosity has quickly turned into an unexpected joy and an escape from the day-to-day pressures of the real world. The beauty of The Sims 4 lies in its ability to offer a world where you can control everything: from building dream houses to creating fascinating stories with unique characters. It’s a world where the biggest stressors are choosing the right outfit or figuring out which career path to pursue for your Sim. For someone who has been navigating the ups and downs of a career shift, the game's low stakes and infinite possibilities have been a breath of fresh air and a welcome escape.
What makes The Sims 4 even more special is the thriving community around it. As I began immersing myself in the game, I stumbled upon a whole new world of Sims gameplay videos. From creative build challenges to storytelling adventures, I found myself drawn into a space where others shared their love for the game and its endless creativity. I consumed content at a rapid pace learning various tips and tricks along the way. I was inspired to pick up the controller myself. I quickly became obsessed. Pretty soon I had a town full of pixel people whose lives I was in charge of. I am invested in their day to day adventures. Soon their individual stories were generating in my mind and I found I needed an outlet. In the end I decided why not try creating content of my own? I’ve learned in life there’s no perfect time to start, and perhaps NOW—amid career changes and finding new footing—is the time to try something new.
The joy of building stories, designing homes, and simply creating in The Sims 4 has been a wonderful escape, but the real magic is seeing how this game can connect people from all over the world. The Sims community is full of passionate and creative individuals, many of whom share tips, create mods, and celebrate the game in ways that make you feel welcome no matter your experience level. Connecting with like-minded people who appreciate the same things is something I look forward to in this experience.
As I continue this journey, I’ve realized that gaming isn’t just about escaping—it’s about building something, learning, and connecting. And for me, this creative journey in The Sims 4 has been the perfect space for that. I can’t wait to see where this experience takes me, and I hope to connect with even more people along the way.
If you’re someone who’s ever thought about jumping into The Sims or exploring a new creative outlet, I encourage you to do so! There’s a whole world waiting for you in the game, and who knows? You might just find unexpected community.
Have you ever used a game as an escape or creative outlet? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences in the comments!
