I just saw someone really dig into epic in an Instagram comment (should have known better than to open insta comments, that’s on me) and I. Am overly sensitive about the things I love so I of course have things to say.

One:They called it “elementary” and said that the production and writing were bad.

First of all, I don’t even think it’s professionally produced??? It was casted through Tik Tok and it started as a college assignment didn’t it-? The fact that it grew so much is INCREDIBLE.

Maybe the writing isn’t always perfect, but I think it was very good.

Secondly: They said that people praise Jorge too much and need to criticize him more

I have. Lots of thoughts about this. Criticism is good, it can help a lot. That being said, I think there’s no way Jorge HASNT received criticism. He gets praise for epic because people like it and what it evolved into is incredible, especially considering where it started. I think it’s unfair to put Hamilton level “professional broadway recorded musical” level production expectations from a musical made ENTIRELY ONLINE. Obviously the production isn’t on par with professional recorded musicals, be so for real.

Lower your expectations, let people enjoy things and stop being so over critical, please.

What’s with queer people disrespecting and putting down other queer people….the homophobic call is coming from inside the house because why are we STILL clinging to outdated stereotypical ideas of gender roles??? And just outdated stereotypes in general?? Being queer has always been about pushing those boundaries, why are y’all still refusing to accept that?? okay so the the zephyr crew has:

a very disney princess esque bright eyed transfemme who is just the most precious

a guy who's rowdiness speaks to him like a venom symbiote and also has no straight explanation for any of his behavior

an octagenarian gunslinger who joined a pack of coyotes after his divorce and who's first words when he was introduced were "dribble a little piss"

a (not great) toysmith with a haunted past and a slavic accent

a 6 foot tall butch with a sick prosthetic arm and just the most wet cat of a husband

and a famous author who's novels fell off after the fourth or fifth one

truly the adventuring party of all time

There was no part of me that was prepared for Ally to say that Olethra was at full health, then say she was at 11 hp. Like yeah, no wonder she’s stealthing across the ship that girl will take one hit and go down 😭

I love the character concepts this season

Proper rich boy, youngest of seven, who’s actually really into adventure and men fighting.

Heroes journey protagonist type but she’s transfemme and extremely endearing.

Divorced elderly cowboy assassin.

Captain Ahab as a haunted Slavic toymaker.

The greasiest biggest saltiest sailor with a tiny husband.

An author who hangs out with wild boars and moose, collects bugs that kids send him, and fights industrial pollution.

Everyone is instantly so lovable and fun.

Zac playing a badass looking ex-con gunslinging cowboy but then we meet him for real and he's immediately talking about piss and his divorce and he's kinda anxious and jumpy and takes his 38 year old dog with him everywhere and everyone calls him Pappy. No notes.
