Not every Pixar film should be a tearjerker sobfest like up

Up is the most romanticized Pixar film because it literally is just the first 10 minutes with Carl and Ellie, the rest of the moie is just okay. I don't even think most people that claim they fucking love up and it's a toptier pixar movie could tell you want the plot of the rest of the movie is. I don't even think they'd recognize the villain.

Watching Fantasy High for the first time and I love every single choice Lou has decided to play Fabian. 10 out of 10 character no notes. Everything he says, the funniest thing I've ever heard. Fabian is an icon, a legend and he is the moment.

Sometimes I hear people criticize Pixar films and it's like did they actually stop being good or maybe did you just stop being a child?

because I know that we love to say how Pixar can be enjoyed by all ages and speak to even adults but we remember that these movies are first and foremost for kids.........right?

I don't know man it feels like people have grown up and attached these lofty ideals and themes (which they definitely do have) to Pixar movies and they've kind of become a parody of itself. Like every movie is about The Theme.

Like I think Elio beats you over the head with the theme as much as Soul and Inside Out 2 do but Elio's really the only one about a child and their experiences. People want Pixar movies to feel like they did when they were a kid and that is literally impossible.

Any if you know any kids take them to see Elio it's good and it honestly does not desrve what ever weird campaign is being run against it

What a funny joke, we were all pretending that Snow White's failure was finally the box office records follwing in the trend of hating on shitty live actions but actually once again it was entirely due to..... you guessed it ......racism. It was racism, people getting upset that Disney cast a brown woman to be snow white and that Rachel Zegler didn't just keep her mouth shut like a good little girl (she just repeated Disney's marketing talk for these disney princess movies like they always say their versions of the princesses are more "empowering" literally look at Speechless from Aladdin.) Really had us in the first half tho

but then lilo and stitich came out and made 800 mil and HTTYD will probably do the same.

Y'all say that you're tired of the live action slop and overabundance of sequels and you can't even go watch Elio in theaters. so like what is the message being sent exactly?

Everybody has a million and 1 excuses for how a live action animated movie is good despite being nothing like the orginal or being mediocre compared to the original. But god for bid a new animated movie not be a fucking masterpiece and even then......

Why exactly would Disney stop making live action remakes when only 2 have really flopped in theaters? (4 if you count sequels to Maleficient and Alice in Wonderland) and atleast 3 have made upwards of a billion dollars? Like people can bitch and moan about how Disney doesn't make original movies anymore and blah blah blah but they'll still make atleast 500 mil on their next Live action remake so why should they care?

Their last original animated movie that could even be considered kind of a success still flopped at the box office so like what exactly does anybody think is going to happen? What would be the incentive to make more movies like that? When only the pixar sequels make a billion and nobody liked Moana 2 but it still made a billion dollars so yeah this is where we are going to be for the forseable future cause I will bet hard cash that Zootopia 2 is going to break a billion as well.

disney is first and foremost a business and there is literally no concrete proof that the live-action remakes are a bad business model except for a bunch of people bitching on the internet. if they can just make them mediocre enough and no race swapping and music removal whatsoever (because yeah guess why Snow white and mulan flopped).

Anyway Elio is a good movie and everyone should go see it, it deserves not to be thrown in disney's junk drawer.

My most maybe controversial take on the live action situation is that if at this point you are still actively watching and going “hey guys this wasn’t that bad” at these live action movies you are not a real animation fans you are a fan of the OG movies despite them being animated. It’s just a blatant lack of acknowledging how the fact that these movies where animated shaped them

Because at this point it’s literally impossible to ignore the actual harm these “live action” movies are doing to animation.

And if I said that the more interesting conversation is how interesting it is that Sabrina had been in the industry for 10 years had been putting the work in but only really like astronomically blew up when she started making the overly sexual nonsense outros? How the more into the blonde nymphette aesthetic she leaned into the higher she climbed specifically on the more sexual aspects of her persona. How the more interesting conversation is that society likes and actively encourages celebrities to sell them sex but only ever up to a point. Only until the imaginary arbitrary line is drawn in the sand and suddenly it becomes too sexual.

Same thing happened with Sydney Sweeney she rose to fame on Euphoria you love Anyone but you with all the bikini shots and sexy scenes and then didn’t engage with her character in white lotus or anything else Society was determined to turn her into a sex symbol and now she’s leaning into the joke of it it’s a problem. Same with Megan thee Stallion and Cardi B they came out the gate talking about how much they love sex we loved how sexually aggressive they were but then W.A.P comes out and suddenly you’d swear they have never mentioned sex before the way people reacted. Same thing with Ice Spice I don’t think at any point people really thought she was a good rapper but it didn’t matter cause she was fun and sexy but now she’s no longer fun so it’s bad that’s she’s sexy. It’s a tale older than Marylin Monroe.

And there’s the problem society wants female celebrities to sell sex as long as it’s fun and wink wink and we get to be in on the joke. But the moment it’s not the moment that it might seem that they actually like it or want to play into it, then we cant have that.
