Exercises for all the homies who want to have a long career drawing.

The true problem with being an artist and drawing all day (as I wanted my whole life) is that human backs are not designed to hold that position, so it is very common for artists and designers to have really stiff shoulder blades, creating a chain of muscle strain towards the arm AND the back… and a lot of pain.

These are some physical exercises for artists and honestly anyone who works at a desk.

The other day we had Todd Ramsey, founder of Yeti Farm Creative come in to speak to our class.

He covered his whole career in the industry up to this point and all the ups and downs he experienced. From the early shows he’s worked on to an accident that broke his drawing hand and how he overcame that by retraining his left hand.

We were also able to tour their studio a couple weeks prior. It was really cool to see an actual animation studio as I’ve never been to one before. The space felt very welcoming and open, seems like a nice studio to work in. I was surprised by how many artists there went to CATO too. It’d be really cool to get hired there after graduation!
