The Ghost With The Most
The Ghost With The Most
Happy Halloween everyone!
Spooky season is officially over but that doesn’t mean I can’t share with you my Halloween costume.
This year I decided I wanted to dress up as Beetlejuice because I thought it would be fun and it looked really easy. And it was. Beetlejuice is such a classic and iconic movie and character that I was like “sure, why not?”.
I bought the striped blazer, the leggings, the…

I know I disappeared for a while… I went on a trip that extended and that kind of messed up my schedule and right after that I got chickenpox and I spent 3 weeks at home, feeling miserable. And when I was finally able to go back to work, there was a lot of work waiting for me. I know this shouldn’t be an excuse but I also didn’t feel like blogging; I had no idea what to talk about so I decided not to post for a while. My mindset and how I perceive things has changed in this past few months and I think now is the best time for me to continue creating content, which is something I really enjoy. I’ll do my best to keep posting, probably not every single week but at least once a month. If you would like to see more of me (on an everyday basis) you can follow me on Instagram.
So, what I’ve been up to?
Besides the trip, the chickenpox and a lot of work, I went to the concert of one of my favorite bands, it was AMAZING! And did I mention I met them? Oh yeah! I met the band! It was incredible!

MORAT
I spent a bunch of money on new clothes… I love fashion, that’s what I majored in and all that but I’m not the typical girl that buys new clothes every week/month, I’m actually very organized when it comes to my finances and buying clothes most of the time isn’t a priority but I decided I deserved to treat myself to a few new clothing items, some I needed, some I don’t even know when I’m going to be able to wear them (like the gorgeous sweater from Lulus that I bought but probably will never wear unless I move somewhere cold, in case you guys forgot, I live in the Caribbean, sweaters are not for the Caribbean).
I got a few pieces from the Comfy 2.0 collection from XLE the Label, and if you’re like “what’s that?” let me tell you! that is Lauren Elizabeth’s clothing brand and it’s amazing! Lauren is one of my favorite youtubers, she’s been one for quite a few years now and she’s just incredible, she doesn’t care about what anyone thinks about her, she’s usually bare faced with a messy bun on her videos, she’s really relatable and funny.. She just announced she’s coming out with a podcast soon and I honestly cannot wait.
Anyways, these pieces are a few of the ones that I got that are a little too hot for the Caribbean but hopefully it will get a little bit colder by mid-December till February so I’ll be able to wear them.
I got a few pieces from Lulus (which is one of my favorite stores), I don’t order from there very often because they’re a little expensive for my budget mainly because I have to convert the currency but it’s actually not expensive if you earn in US dollars (which I don’t) but they have great pieces. I got a pair of light wash distressed jeans and omg I love this jeans, they’re from the brand Eunina, they`re so comfy and the material (90% cotton) is so soft that it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing jeans; I got this light brown sweater, that I still don’t know when I’m going to wear it because it’s still soooo hot outside. I got this burgundy strapless jumpsuit for a specific event I have coming on, the event is in November but I like being prepared so here’s a picture from the store. I also got this earrings, this was something to get out of my comfort zone, I usually only wear small earrings but I thought they would look amazing with the jumpsuit (and let me tell you, they do).
I also bought my Halloween costume, which I’m very excited about and you`ll see when it`s closer to Halloween…
I also bought two eye shadow sticks from Nudestix and I’m obsessed with them and I kind of want everything from Nudestix. I got Gilt, which is like a light goldy shimmery color; and Immortal, which is more like a bronzy brown color. I tried them together and I’ve tried them individually and they look great either way. I’ve been using Immortal on my everyday make up lately.
That’s a few of the things I’ve been up to lately (at least the most interesting ones). I hope you all are as excited as me that I’m back. I have a few other posts planned for the upcoming months so stay tuned.
Love,
Karla

Things I've Learned In Life
Things I’ve Learned In Life

I’m turning 24 today so I decided to reflect a little on life and tell you a few things I’ve learned throughout the years.
If you don’t feel like doing something, don’t do it.
If you like it, wear it.
You deserve to spoil yourself every once in a while so don’t feel guilty after spending money.
It’s okay to be a curious soul and to learn about different things.
It’s okay not to be okay.

Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer Review

I know I haven’t posted for a while and I honestly don’t have any excuse of why, I just didn’t feel like thinking about what to write about. Sorry not sorry. But I’m back and I have a review for you guys. I bought the Revlon Hair One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer a few weeks ago and it has been life changing for me.
Throughout the years I’ve tried different types of brushes that are supposed to…

I’ve been debating all weekend if I should upload this post. I didn’t like that many things this month so I decided to show you some of those things and tell you guys a little about what I’ve been up to in March.

SUCKER BY THE JONAS BROTHERS. I’ve been screaming and fangirling the whole month. THE JONAS BROTHERS ARE BACK! My teenage self is very happy about this. Every time I listen to this song I just want to stop everything and dance. I had it on replay for two weeks and I still listen to it on a daily basis.

Mirage. It’s a Spanish movie about a woman that’s trapped in a time wrap and then travels to another dimension… Kind of… and there’s also a murder involved… it’s so confusing but so good. I’m not an expert in explaining movies but if you’re still interested in watching it you can find it on Netflix.

The OA. It’s a mystery, drama, sci-fi, supernatural, fantasy show about traveling to other dimensions and it focuses on a girl that was missing for 7 years and then she returns to tell her story. The part 2 of this show came out on Netflix this month… it was so weird and confusing and good at the same time. I liked part two a lot more than part one and I cannot wait for part three to come out. Again I’m not an expert in explaining things but if you’re still interested in watching it you can find it on Netflix.
I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with exercise. But I’ve been working out this month. I did the March workout calendar from Blogilates most days. And when I wasn’t feeling those videos I did some yoga with the help of the Down Dog app.
I’ve been taking lots of classes on Skillshare. I’ll show you guys some of the projects I’ve done so far.
I went to see A Star is born (finally). I really liked it.
I watched The Order on Netflix, it’s a new show with magic and werewolves and all that stuff. It was good.
I went to Fresh Fresh Café to grab lunch for a friend’s birthday.

Till next time,

The OA.
He estado tomando muchas clases en Skillshare.
Fui a ver A star is born (por fin). Me gustó mucho.
Me gusto.

Falafel veggie burger
Hasta la proxima,
karla

I’ve been thinking about re-doing some pieces and updating the quality of my portfolio for a while now. While looking through and making marks on what I wanted to improve, I was shocked at how much my illustrations have changed over the past few years. So I decided to take you guys with me down memory lane from my first illustration in college to the ones I’ve done recently.
When I was around 8 years old I decided I wanted to be a fashion designer. I would spend all day drawing pretty dresses. As I grew up, that turned into looking through fashion magazines, researching big designer, reading fashion blogs and trying to learn everything I could about the fashion industry.
I majored in fashion design at a local fashion school here in Dominican Republic. I spent 4 years there (2013-2017). It’s a good school, I learned a lot but they focus more on teaching you how to sew than any other aspect of the fashion industry. In my case I like the creative process a little bit more; I know how to sew and everything but I rather conceptualize the idea and illustrate it.
Most of my teachers focused on illustrating a specific way and with gouache so I had to teach myself other illustrating techniques through YouTube videos and courses. Sometimes I take my favorite fashion illustrators as a reference when I have trouble illustrating a specific area (face, a specific fabric or type of hair, etc.).
The majority of these illustrations were made with gouache while I was in college. Some were made with a combination of gouache, markers and watercolor pencils while the rest are just plain pencil sketches that I consider look kind of cool.
I have more illustrations that I could have shown, but they were too many. There are more my professors kept them.
As you can see it has improved a lot. Hope you guys enjoy this post. I’ll see you all next week.
Love,
Karla

Como puedes ver he mejorado mucho. Espero que les guste este post. Los veré a todos la próxima semana.
Love,
Karla
This first ones were with the same teacher.

First illustration. I call this one “skinny wet poodle hair”

Learning how to do hair… Kind of..

Learning how to illustrate denim. Hair still not good.

Fringe and plaid… hair is improving.

Learning stripes.

More denim, more stripes, plaids improvement

Denim, plaids and stripes. Hair improvement.
Illustration of a project inspired by the 60s
Illustrations of a project where we had to choose a country and an animal for inspiration. (Greece & a peacock)
This ones (and the furry one on the top) were with another teacher.

The teacher wanted to see how we illustrated so she made us do a super simple one. We can see the hair improvement.

She tried to teach me how to do sequins.
And, another teacher.

She teached us how to do fun collections for kids. This is probably one of my favorite works.

She teached us how to do guys… Clothes: check. ABS: CHECK! Face: not good at all.

More boys. They look kind of confused. The one with the cap is my favorite.

Spring/Summer collection 2016. They look better without faces.

Last collection before graduation. 2017.
Then I spent almost a year without illustrating. I received Fashionary sketchbook for Christmas and started illustrating again.

December 2018. See what I’m saying about the faces?

I usually only wear makeup on week days because I have to for work but if it was up to me I would only use it for special occasions. I’m a big fan of the “no makeup” makeup look and I try to wear as little makeup as possible or not makeup at all (especially on the weekend). I’ll try to explain my process and products the best I can. Also, I filmed a little video for you guys of how I do my makeup each morning, be aware that how I do my makeup may vary depending on the day.

I don’t usually wear foundation. I really only use it if I’m going to an important event and there’s going to be lots of pictures taken and I need extra coverage. Depending on my mood and how my skin is looking I’ll use a cc cream. Currently I’m using the Avon True Color Ideal Face CC Cream in medium beige. I’m neutral about this one; I don’t either love it or hate it. The main reason of why I got it is because it was cheap.

Most days, when I’m not using the CC Cream, I put concealer right after my moisturizer. I’m currently using the MaryKay Perfecting Concealer in light beige. I just make a few dots where need it and under my eyes, and later blend with my beauty blender. This product is good but I´m not sure if I´ll buy it again.

Right after that there´s a step I don’t do every day, sometimes because I’m in a rush or don’t feel like it. That’s setting my under eyes with translucent powder. I currently use the Maybelline Master Fix Setting + Perfecting Loose Powder. I really like this one; I’ve had it for a while now.

Then comes the fun part; the perfect trio. In case you’re wondering what I’m talking about, I’m talking about bronzer, blush and highlighter. This is probably my favorite part of doing my makeup.
First I apply some bronzer on my temple, under my cheeks and on my jaw. I’m currently using The Balm Take Home the Bronze Anti-Orange Bronzer in the shade Thomas. I love this bronzer a lot; I’m definitely going to buy it again.
Then with the same brush (Luxie 1010 small contour), I apply a little blush, I’m currently using Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in the shade quirky. I love this blush and I’m getting a new one soon.
And then we sparkle (I’m talking about highlighter). I don’t use highlighter every single day but most days; 4 out of 5 days. I have two that are my favorites and I alternate between them. The one I’m using in the video is the Morphe mini highlighter in the shade Spark, which you can see is all broken because my sister accidently dropped it (I’m getting a new one soon so let’s not worry about it). This one I apply with a brush on my cheekbones and I take a little with a finger and put it on the tip of my nose.
The other one is The Balm Mary Dew Manizer liquid highlighter & all-over illuminator. This looks super natural and is super easy to blend (I usually blend it with my fingers). I apply 3 dots on my cheekbones and a dot on the tip of my nose.

Then I’ll add some mascara. I’m using the Artistry Studio NYC Edition Lash Boosting 3-in-1 Mascara in Gotham Black. This mascara is so cool, you can adjust the brush depending on the look you want to get and it´s waterproof so it can last all day long.
And lastly but not least, lipstick. I love nude lipsticks with a little tint of pink. I alternate between the Milani Amore Shine Liquid Lip Color in the shade Charming and the Bite Beauty Matte Crème Lip Crayon in the shade Glace. I have a bunch of lipsticks in different shades (mostly nudes and reds) but these are the only ones I use on a daily basis to be honest. I usually apply my lipstick in the car on my way to work.
And that´s how I do my everyday makeup. I hope you enjoyed this post. I´ll see you all next week.
Love,
Karla
—————-

Normalmente no uso base.

Karla

It’s Friday! Yay! Am I the only one that has been waiting for this week to be over?
Anyways, this week I have an outfit post for you guys. I wore this outfit to work the other day, and I was like “I really like this outfit, I need someone to take photos of me in it” so I grabbed a few co-workers and told them to take photos of me. National Botanical Garden

A few weeks ago I went to the Dr. Rafael Maria Moscoso National Botanical Garden with my sister. The whole purpose of this trip was that I needed to take some photos for a mobile photography course I was taking on Skillshare.
We spent the whole morning there that Sunday; we went to see almost all the sights. There you can exercise, do yoga, photo shoots, you can have a picnic with friends and…
