Hey, it's been a while! How you been? Hope your not overworking yourself!

Anyways, I have a few things I want to ask / say:

I was looking through the confirmed characters and realised that punz hadn't been introduced. I'm guessing that he doesn't appear in the comic / does have a roleswap, but I am wondering how he would look in your design.

Also, I was wondering if the kid at the beginning that conner is talking to might be Michael?

PS. I love your design too much man. I have 3 main people's designs who I love and one of them is you.

I'm alright! I'm trying to get stuff done while I'm not busy as to not overwork myself later hahaha

Punz is in the comic, but he definitely won't appear for a while. I did a design sheet for him, but really, I didn't need to change that much. I think the idea of him being one of the only non-magical humans (both in the canon dsmp and in my au) goes well with his character. I really only have a handful of characters who I leave as Just a Guy(TM), and Punz is one of them. I think, when writing fantasy, it's good to leave a couple of normies/close-to-normies to even things out. You don't really want to overwhelm your audience.

On that note... bc he hasn't shown up (and I don't want to spoil his role by showing his old design sheet), I don't have a good picture of him! Here's a rough sketch I whipped up:

The big question of the new minecraft update is: is the happy ghast better at collecting new mobs from far away or is the classic way (drag around with lead/boat)? The answer I found is: the happy ghast wins.

I was waiting to play with the new warm and cold mobs until the happy ghast update, since I thought it would make it so much more streamlined than the old way (drag around with lead/boat with rockets). I don't play previews, so when it came out, I decided to run a test: I would get the cold biome mobs first with the happy ghast, and then get the warm biome mobs second the traditional way. Either way, it was thousands of blocks away from my base, so it was going to be two long trips. I immediately noticed how slow the happy ghast moved--it wasn't painful, but it wasn't like an elytra. So, after collecting the mobs without much of a hitch, I shrugged and thought, "I bet the old way is still faster." I WAS WRONG. I went to go get those warm biome mobs and lost two leads, killed two cows on accident (one suffocated in a block while in a boat, the other glitched out of a boat while flying and died), and literally just lost a cow in a boat after it snapped off while flying. This process took so long and so many back and forth trips (due to the cow problems) that I needed to take an xp break to kill a bunch of mobs at night to repair my elytra--fully mended when I went on this journey. So, tl;dr, the old way may technically go faster, but that if there's not bumps or hitches or glitches. The happy ghast is the better method 100%.

Roleshuffle, Part 51! I can't help myself. If I don't have a slapstick joke within five pages I'll explode. I cannot help myself. Part of me is so excited for when things are going to get serious in my comic, but at the same time, I am going to miss the silly slapstick jokes :(

Here's my original design sheet for Wilbur as per @feather-sapace 's request! As I said last time, I made these a few years ago, so give my old art a bit of grace! There's not super a lot to go off of here, since a lot of it has been redacted, but let's get into it! (And these are for my Roleshuffle AU comic, if you're new!)

I don't really do a lot of out-there things with my Wilbur design. The biggest thing I do is give him a tiny little man-bun, armor, and wings. I think probably the biggest debated thing about any Wilbur design (AU or not) is whether or not to give him wings. He's canonically Phil's son, so hypothetically he should have them... but real-life Wilbur always shut down this idea (to my knowledge). But, well, sucks to suck, because I can do whatever I want with your character and if I think your ideas are bad I'll change them :) (Do NOT get me started on Utah and his stupid *insert pompous British accent here* "Oh, it's a metaphor for death actually" NO absolutely not, cheap character ending, how dare you do this to the dsmp character I love to hate. Make that man LIVE with the "trickster always gets away" ending he DESERVES.)

Aaaaaanyways, rants aside, I gave him wings. I really wanted to accentuate the lighter sides of Wilbur, and really play on that arrogance mixed with incompetence in my version. The wings are not only a cool design feature that makes him unique, but they also help add to the sort of clumsiness I wanted to add to the character. I mean, sure, Wilbur can fly, but that doesn't mean he's good at it. c!Wilbur does and says a lot of silly things, but most of them are taken very seriously because of how much the people around him are star-struck with him. So, when making his Roleshuffle AU character, I asked myself, "Would people take him seriously if they didn't already look up to him?" And the answer I found was no. This presents a much lighter version of Wilbur: he's not power hungry, because he has no power to get hooked on in the first place. His want of people looking up to him doesn't turn into full-blown, Long-John Silver levels of manipulation, because people don't look up to him. So, instead of him being power hungry, he's just a little arrogant, and instead of him being manipulative, he's just a silly/theatrical.

One of Wilbur's flaws that I did keep--and I imagine will get worse as my Roleshuffle comic goes on--is his insecurity. That matches really well with what all happens to c!Sapnap, so I'm really excited to explore that dynamic, particularly between him and Foolish.

And I hear you ask, "Why give him a little man-bun?" Well, I wanted it to be clear--especially for that first arc--that he's (attempting) to play the part of the warrior. The more average, shorter Wilbur haircut he normally has just didn't give off that vibe for me. So, I tried to think of hairstyles that he would choose to still have that certain flair that he would want, but also not completely unrealistic for someone playing the part of the warrior. I landed on the man-bun.

A while back, @feather-sapace asked for the original design sheets for Wilbur and Foolish, so, here they are! Just remember that this was art I made a couple years ago, back before I started my Roleshuffle AU comic, so it's definitely a touch old. But let's start with Foolish!

A lot of people do a lot of different things for Foolish. He's kind of one of the weirder skins to make a design for--it's not super cut-and-dry like Ant's or Tommy's or George's or something, but it's not as necessarily out-there as Dream's is, or even Skeppy's, for that matter. So, when designing him, I had a lot of wiggle room to interpret/make my own. Since in the canon dsmp, he goes for a fantasy desert theme, I tried to kind of keep the same vibe with his design.

He doesn't really have any clothes on his skin, but unlike with Ant (who gets a free pass since he's an anthropomorphic cat) who can just roam around without any clothes and have it look normal (in the same way it's normal for Techno not to have pants), it really would be strange for Foolish to do that, since he's more humanoid. So, I gave him a fun little outfit, instead. Fun fact! You only really see this a couple of times, since most of the time he has his shark hat on, but his robe (tunic? dress? idk) doesn't actually have a back above the middle-tie-thingy. Neither does his tank top, technically. Why, you ask? Well...I just kind of wanted to. Oh, also, his eyes aren't just shaped like that. It's canonically eyeliner. I think the only time thus far he's seen without his eyeliner is after he got hit by the minecart, lol.

In other design terms, you have the issue of the shark itself. Foolish's skin is based off of a totem, but it also has these shark elements. It's never clear if that's supposed to be because he's a hybrid or if he just... wears that for some reason. So, I went with the latter of making it into clothes, even though this wasn't particularly true to the skin--he only has bits of the shark on him (the head on his head, shark-y hands, etc.). The hat is cool, though, and even though we haven't gotten to this yet, I tried to give it LORE so it'd not be as random.

Speaking of LORE, you may notice that Foolish's eyes glow in the original design sheet! He doesn't do that in the comic. Not yet, anyways. One of the big things I wanted to do with this comic is fix the ending problem and (since they're 100% connected) the problem with c!Dream. I left Foolish's design open in a few areas to changes later down the line in the story. I want to justify the canon dsmp's attempt to have its audience sympathize with c!Dream by actually altering parts of the story to make him, well, sympathize-able. We are suuuuuper close to getting to the point where this is going to become relevant in my comic--it's in the next arc! I think my idea will still make Foolish a good villain and such, but still leave room for audiences to still think of him as human.

Oh, also, his bead earrings were originally blue, but since simple is often times better in designs you have to draw over and over and over again, I changed it to his iconic green. Having too many colors on one character can be overwhelming for you to draw all the time, and it's not very cohesive, so it's important to remember that complex designs aren't always better designs when making characters.

I kind of wrote a lot for this, so I'm going to talk about Wilbur tomorrow in his own separate post. Hope you enjoy!
