I can't go over everything yet (spoilers), but I do want to talk about a fun thing about Techno being in the role of Wilbur in my Roleshuffle AU.

So, in the dsmp canon, Wilbur doesn't find Eret out due to two reasons: 1. Eret is competent. He's a good liar. 2. WIlbur is too arrogant to think someone would do that.

On the other hand, with Techno in the role of Wilbur and Connor, above all people, in the role of Eret, I hit a wall. Would Techno figure him out? I decided Yes, but also No. Think about c!Techno. He lets people betray him. When he teams with Tommy, he asks Tommy a few times if he's sure he wants to do this. He doubled checked that Tommy wanted to betray him. Twice, if I'm remembering correctly. When Quackity invited him to the prison, Techno knew it was a trap. But he went anyways. He let Quackity betray his trust. I feel like this is partially because of Techno's hubris ('TECHNOBLADE NEVER DIES"), but there's more to it than that. See, when Techno has friends, he protects them at all costs. He wanted Ranboo to make it, and got angry when he was killed. He wanted to protect Phil more than anything. He cared about the Syndicate. He cared about Tubbo, and felt bad enough about killing him to apologize to him. I'm not positive, but I think that's the only time in the series that Techno apologizes. Ever. So, in short, Techno wants and values his friends, to the point where he'll give them second chances again and again. He'll let them betray him right up until the last second, giving them all the chances they need to take it back. He wants them to take it back.

I feel like there's also a point similar to this to be said about Techno and his inability to lie (I think the only person he lies successfully to is Tommy, who would've believed anyone at that point in his arc), but that's a conversation for a different day...

Will you release the character design sheets of each character? Your designs are so unique and I have a lot of fun looking at them! About Wilbur, is he an elytra or some kind of bird? His wings are kind of blocky. It's cool.

Also Jack Manifold I love him. He looks so banger! He was my favourite in dsmp and I'm excited to see where you'll take him in role shuffle.

I love asks like this! Thank you! I made my original design sheets 2 years ago, so they're kind of bad. But, it's probably a good idea to redo them anyways, so I'll give you the updated version (with the old at the bottom of the post). I'll probably have to do these one at a time, but I'll start with Jack since you like him so much :) (Also, I'll go more into this when I post his sheet, but Wilbur's a bird of sorts)

He's super fun to draw, mostly because he's very expressive with his glasses-eyes. Since I'm trying to go for a more fantasy-vibe, I replaced the sweatshirt with a snazzy poncho. Anyways, here's the original character sheet below, with spoilers blacked out:

This redesign page of my Roleshuffle AU Techno has been sitting in my drafts for a while, so let's talk my Techno design! I already have a post discussing why I made him based off an overworld pig, so check that out first if you haven't seen it. I can't really summarize it.

Something I'm doing to show "the voices" getting louder without having to use text is making his pupils get bigger, and potentially have little red glints. I know normally the more insane a character gets, the smaller their pupils gets, but I wanted him to appear a little more animalistic. While the small pupils give a very manic, crazed look, I wanted Techno to look completely focused--almost too focused. As aforementioned, animalistic. I probably won't get to the point of what actual pig eyes look like (fully black with the whites in the back), but I do want to get a similar idea across. This choice also makes him look less aware of any dialogue going on, which I is something I've been trying to do with "the voices". No thoughts, only Blood For the Blood God.

Also! I swear during a Techno stream he had a skin with a blue sweater. Maybe I dreamed it, because I couldn't find it anywhere, but I distinctly remember his chat teasing him for it, with him responding "It's a sweater!" But I digress. Perhaps I just imagined that.

Below is the original design I had for him, and was one of the first design sheets I did (if not the first ever; I don't particularly remember). I was originally not leaning into such a cartoon-y style, but I really got into that style as I started actually making the comic. (His mildly realistic teeth in that top left image haunts me.) In other notes, I think either because of the way I did his legs originally or the way I did his head originally (both were a bit elongated), he didn't look short. Part of that is because if you measure out his full-body shot, every portion of him is roughly the same length. I.E. his head is the same length as his torso, and his torso is the same length as the legs. If you take any character design course, one of the things they'll probably note is that for unique character designs, it's a good idea to mess around with proportions (both length and width). It's tough to figure out, but once you have that idea in, you can make your characters look more unique. For instance, while Techno's longest bit is his torso, in width, he has smaller legs and a bit smaller head. On the other hand, Ranboo's longest bit is his legs, and in width, the widest part is his head (if you count his little floppy-ear-thingamajigs). I really struggled implementing this tip for a while, but woooo, once I did, my designs got a lot better. I still could stand to put it in more, to be honest haha.

Also, personal note: I didn't mean to go on such a long break, but finals have been rough (3 essays, all at least seven pages...yikes). Anyways, I'm going to have a lot to catch up on, but I AM NOT DEAD. The comic will go on! It just might take a bit, and I thank all of you for your patience! :) (Also, I'm still running character asks if you're interested!)

Tommy is completely, 100% fine and has in fact bathed at least once a week.

A not-so-brief discussion of my Techno design, mainly because I'm really proud of it....

First of all, don't get me wrong, I love the big, burly, Piglin-style designs of Techno, and the anime-looking hybrid design with the ~snazzy~ braid is nice. However, when I was designing Techno, I really fell in love with the idea of him just being an overworld pig. For one, it's skin accurate, but to delve deeper into it:

Techno, like all of the sbi children, runs on theatrics. While Wilbur uses it in terms of his charisma and wit, and Tommy practically runs on distractions and diversions (of varying success), Techno creates an air of intimidation. And, it's not that he's naturally intimidating--he's playing it up. It's theatre. Naturally, he's mildly awkward, cracking jokes, and, above all, scared of death. If you go back to a lot of the moments before a battle or confrontation, you can see that he's panicking. Whether it be as obvious as when the Butcher Army came for him, or a little more subtle, like when he and Dream were prepping for the big L'Manberg battle. That isn't the most intimidating personality.

He knows it, though. That's where the theatrics come in. He dresses himself up in red and armor, with a glittering crown. His tactics are terrifying, even if they aren't the most effective. He lets withers loose, even though they may attack him or his allies. He brings in so many wolves that he can barely move. Dream, to contrast, uses more effective, more technical methods. He sets up TNT droppers, he makes lava walls, he fights alone. While his methods are more effective, in the final battle, who are people more scared of? Techno. He uses those tactics not because they're technically the most effective, but because they're intimidating. Think of his iconic phrase: "Technoblade never dies." Making that something that people automatically associate with you will make them afraid of you, and that's on purpose. Techno uses these theatrics to seems intimidating.

I decided to draw him as an overworld pig because he isn't naturally intimidating. Drawing him as such forced me to make him intimidating through other means. Expression, camera angle, lighting, ect.. As my comic progresses and we get more into battle scenes, you'll see more and more what I mean, but yeah. I love my silly little Techno design.
