Random writing thought: the best stories are often the ones that only you could have written — but also the ones that you could only write at this one moment.
I couldn't write All the Birds in the Sky from scratch now if I tried. But the me of 2013 couldn't have written The Prodigal Mother either.

“They’re off, and the big excitement this match is the Firebolt that Harry Potter is flying for Gryffindor. According to Which Broomstick, the Firebolt’s going to be the broom of choice for the national teams at this year’s World Championship-” “Jordan, would you mind telling us what’s going on in the match?” interrupted Professor McGonagall’s voice. “Right you are, Professor- just giving a bit of background information- the Firebolt, incidentally, has a built-in auto-brake and-” “Jordan!” “Okay, okay, Gryffindor in possession, Katie Bell of Gryffindor heading for the goal…”

One of the joys of discovering a new city has been discovering new coffee shops to lurk about in 👀. . Found two new cafes today that perfectly fit my aesthetic and I’ll be back for sure! Today was spent scouring the internet for jobs and sending out a million resumes. Scottish people, hire me! 🙏🏻. As well as a lovely jaunt through Caledonia Books, which you can see on my stories. . Finished it off with a peaceful hour spent reading in the Botanics and embracing the Scottish sun. All in all, a lovely day in my new city. . (at Il Cappuccino)

I’m honestly in love with the new Grisha covers. The originals are beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but these have something all their own.
I’ll be honest, I’ve bought books just for the covers on occasion. It’s hard to resist. But when it’s a beautiful edition of a book I like?… Well my wallet knows what’s up 😂
Have you ever bought a book just for the aesthetic?

“When I was a teenager I began to realize that a lot of the books I read didn’t have characters that looked like me,”said Kaya. “Realizing that made me feel invisible.”
So she decided to change that and created an app where she could share her database with other young readers.
After taking part in a Black Girls Code hackathon, and learning the ins and outs of iOs during an internship, Thomas devised an iPhone app that functioned as a directory of 300 books showcasing characters of color.
“Young people should be able to see themselves represented in literature, so they know that their stories are important and that there are authors who […] celebrate their background and show the real lives of people like them “
Support her initiative and develop this app for black people to feel they are represented too and that they can find books they can relate to. I feel like this should have been done long time ago, but nobody cared about black authors and books with black characters.
