I have a separate, sci-fi worldbuilding thing, it takes a backseat to the Har Fang project, but I occasionally work on it.

Technically this should be "Known extant sophonts" since there is another extinct civilization but I don't feel like designing them right now.

Except for the Orytarians, these are all the human names for each sophont, not the names they use for themselves. This is because Orytarians and Humans have a very similar vocal range and thus are able to speak each other's native languages.

Grabbers are able to speak all other languages due to their vocal apparatus being morphologically similar to parrots. Mech Shrimps communicate with each other in clicking sounds, and normally use either Grabber translators or writing to communicate with other sophonts. Manta vocalization has some overlap with humans, and they can technically kinda speak each other's languages, but it always sounds off and stilted.

I redesigned their species a bit a while back, naturally that means I had to redo their ref sheet for artfight!

While Har Fang takes priority in my worldbuilding and spec bio work, I do have a separate sci-fi project on the back burner that Charybdis here and their species belong to.

I have sketches of the other sophonts done, just need to finish them and write up their lore! Some day!
