Second Option (HexTrick)

"So, you didn't fix the lights, then." Trick smiled, sipping from his cup of coffee, watching as Hexsy fixed the backup generator. The duo were inside Threes Coffee and Bombs, Trick watching as Hexsy worked. Hexsy was telling her about a time when Tyler, Three's baker, had called her to fix the lights. "Yeah, well, its not like she ever responds to me when I call, so." Trick laughed, rolling his eyes. "And How often does she call, Hex?" Hexsy thought about it for a minute, then rolled her eyes, realizing the magicians point. "Oh, whatever." she said, swishing her tail in their direction. Trick smiled, avoiding the hit, and leaned back over the counter. She wanted to say something, anything really. A compliment. Something that would get the mechanics attention. But just as she started, the back door opened, and the cafe owner walked out. "Bout time your lazy ass showed up to fix these," he grinned, teasing Hexsy playfully. Hexsy laughed, playfully swatting at him with her tail. "Hey, be lucky I'm doing it in the first place. I'm not exactly getting paid for this, you know." Trick couldn't do anything else but watch as the playful banter took place in front of them. He looked down at his coffee, trying to distract himself with anything else. Anything to avoid the way they looked at each other. The way they laughed, the way their conversation flowed so easily. He wanted that more than anything.

But clearly, it wasn't going to happen anytime soon.

Hexsy kept fixing the lights as Smg3 "ridiculed" her, Trick all but forgotten. "You know," Smg3 started, holding the ladder for Hexsy, "If you really want something for your work, I know a nice restaurant nearby that we could go to." Hexsy froze. Trick froze. The air was tense, as if he'd just asked something criminally insane instead of a simple "come to dinner with me" question. Then, Hexsy smiled, and Trick knew it was over. "Yeah. Dinner works." Hexsy said, her ringlight tail glowing a soft pink. She climbed down the ladder, having fixed the rest of the lights. Smg3 nodded, giving her hand a soft kiss as Hexsy rolled her eyes playfully. "Dinner it is then. See you at 7?" he asked, looking up at her. Hexsy nodded, pulling his hat down. "See you at 7, dork." He grinned walking back to the back, only then did he notice Trick. "Oh, hey Trick! When did you get here?" He asked, and Hexsy turned around, finally remembering her friend. "Oh, yeah! Sorry, Trick. Completely forgot about you."

If only she knew how deep those words hurt. Then she wouldn't have said them. But Trick smiled, waving it off like it was no big deal, like he was content with being her second option. Because he was. Everything was fine.

At least, thats what she was going to tell herself.

Can you believe its been 5 months since we first started actually talking to each other 😭😭 I mean this is the most loving way when I say that I think we speedran this a little. Oh well. 💖 Nova, you are SUCH a positive role, not just in the server, but in everything you put effort into. All the games that you play, the art you draw, the videos you watch, and ALL of the conversations you have, you put all of your energy into. You never leave anything unfinished or halfway through. You see something, and in your special confident way, you decide "I'm going to put all of my effort into this, and make sure I have a fun time while doing so." And it's not just you who ends up having a fun time. It's everyone that you share the experience with. Even if we have a bad day, we all leave a conversation with you with that tiny feeling that tomorrow will always be brighter.

Speaking of how your presence causes us to improve our own confidence, being in vc with you always cheers me up. Sometimes when I have a bad day, I just think "Ok I just have to get through these next few hours and then I can hop on call with Nova." I'm so used to people shying away and not wanting to be as passionate about their work as they'd like, but not you, you stand tall and you say as loudly as you can that you love what you make and you want to share it with others. It sounds silly to say but I honestly look up to you so much in that way, please never lose your passion for what you make because whether you realise it or not, you doing what you do radiates onto others in the best way possible, and makes all of us want to be just as passionate with their work as you are with your own.

I always love listening to you talk about what you love, regardless of what it may be, and I'm so happy I get to share it with you every time you open up and show us what you enjoy. Nxva, when i first saw you appear in my ask box many months ago to infodump on how Hexsy and SMGL:E were similar, I adored your art style and the character so much. I thought the idea of the ring light coming to life was incredibly creative.

Few months later, when a certain burger man opened up a server and YOU were in the VC, i recognized you from Tumblr, and I was very excited and nervous. I'll admit, i was a little overwhelmed by you lol, you were very talkative and it caught me off guard LMAO /aff

But gradually, as we continued appearing in VCs together, I grew to enjoy your presence a lot, because your infodumping on Hexsy and her lore was so fun, and how excited you were about the stories you wrote and drawings you drew always made my day. You never fail to make me laugh and i thoroughly enjoy your company.
